Hi Tessie. The cookbook is from me. I hope you enjoy it. 😊 I love that you have kept your home original. So much of the old stuff is lost because people want to modernize everything. I like the charm of the original but then again I love history in general. I have always felt like I should have been born in an earlier time period.

I grew up near a big and famous city but i lived out on the island. We picked sea glass. One time i found a note in a bottle from across the Long Island Sound, Connecticut, it was awesome.

I believe the glass pieces are Sea Glass. You are right, years of being in the ocean and sand makes the pieces smooth. You can make jewelry out of them. People collect sea glass.

YAAAAAY, Owen!! What an incredible box of goodies! Every single item in it is meaningful. Now that -- ladies and gentlemen -- is a true friend. That does look like "sea glass," Tessie, and I believe you're right in assuming that it was "tumble polished" in the ocean waves. It took a long time to collect all that! Please, please, Tessie, don't ever paint over the beautiful wood in your 1963 mobile home! It would really destroy its value and its charm. I'm so glad that you truly appreciate what "vintage" means. In my husband's family, there was a bedroom set (large headboard and dresser) that had been bought in the 1860s. (The bill of sale was still with it.) Some "expert" convinced the family to "re-finish" it so it would "look more modern." Bingo. In an instant it went from being a valuable heirloom to being practically worthless -- not to mention awful-looking. As you know, you can always put light colored curtains in the window and have lighting indoors to brighten things up, but once an interior is "modernized" past all reversal, it's lost forever. You are a wise woman to hold on to what's valuable. One of the best Thrifty Thursday hauls ever. The books were in mint condition; that will provide hours of enjoyable reading. Now, I only have one question before I sign off for tonight: *Are you sure you have enough clothes pins??* 😁😁😁

My Grandma was an excellent cook and had her recipes in the newspaper. She had a super small kitchen about 5 ft wide from counter to fridge and 10 ft wide the other direction from sink to table. So I've always loved how you can have a small kitchen and still produce great food! Love your cookbooks you find!💕

Thrifting is the best! My mom had those clothes pins with the rounded tops and I would swipe them, draw faces on them, and wrap little spare pieces of cloth around them like a dress, lol. Love seeing what treasures you find!

I love thrifting! We live seriously in the middle of nowhere, so there isn't a thrift store for 30 miles. Well, we have a little one here but it is mainly just clothes.. like a consignment shop. So, I don't get to go thrifting often but when we go to the city for lumber once a month or so.. we stop at the thrift stores! Good finds Tessie!

My Grandma call the straight carved type of clothes pins 'Clothes pegs'. I just LOVE old cookbooks too!! That Sea Glass is so fun! It's often found in places along the beach that were old dump sites. Hope your having a good week!

Sea glass is beautiful, I made a lovely wind chime with sea glass sea shells and drift wood! So think outside the box and have fun! You could use your wooden clothes pins and sea glass and make wind chimes!

My husband found me some of those close pins, and, if I remember correctly, they are made in the USA. They were quite expensive, but they last forever. I think you will love them. They are so much better than those with the springs. You definitely made a good buy with those clothes pins.

The thrift stores here have been hit very hard. Not nearly as full as they usually are. People may be holding onto their things instead of donating them and I have noticed way more people in them when I go there.

I love the things you got, both from the thrift store and from Owen! I wish I had a decent thrift store near me because I love going and poking around. I’m dreading winter, like I do every year! I’m really excited for Spring to arrive because it’s my favorite time of year, with Summer coming in a close second. I’m really excited to plant a garden next year; instead of just flowers like I do every year, I’m going to plant a few vegetables. Since I’m learning to can, I really want to try & grow a few things and can them!! I would love to look at that canning book/magazine you got today! (I’ve got the bug 🤣🤣)

Really nice intro. Very cool old books and I love the roasting pan too.👍😀 We have 2 boxes of that water proofing. I told the spouse I felt it would snow here, in East Central Florida, this year.
