A suggestion to help lessen the stress when you have water issues is to put those empty jars you have to use and just can a bunch of water.

I'm going to need the link to that jar lid lifter! My water is out, too! My past self purchased 8 each of the 5 gallon water jugs from beprepared and we were able to use those to get us through. We had enough to water our horse and our chickens as well. I'm pretty grateful to my past self! I learned about my future self and my past self from watching your videos 😊

I went 3 weeks without water in the Fall. No fun! Only good thing is it’s just me and I do take my meals to work for dinner. Breakfast. Is easier for me to deal with than if I cooked dinner at home. Had to shower elsewhere though. My sons have been gems and helped me get it fixed. I can deal with no electric easier than no water.

I had no hot water recently. My husband committed suicide in 12-23-2023 and we were unaware that my husband had been playing with the water Hester and turning the pilot light down.. we sat for about a week without hot water until I decided to have a neighbor come over and we checked the water heater and found out the knob was turned to 1. I thought there was s problem with the water heater because we did have hot water until I went to take a bath and took one cold as u know what bath omg! It took hours for me to unfreeze because it was during the most coldest days in my state.. glad I didn’t waste money calling anyone.. a lot of people yesterday atleast 15k were without power right around me but, luckily I wasn’t affected.. I hope u get ur water back soon because ur gonna end up like me with backed up laundry.

Not having water is hard. Rose Red Homestead had a great idea for storing water. She stores in her empty quart jars. Brilliant! 23:46 Becky your chicken turned out good. I do have a GAME CHANGING PRO CHEF FRYING TIP for you that CHANGED & PERFECTED MY FRYING PROCESS.😊 I learned it 10 years ago from my oldest sons friend who worked at a restuarant/chef. TRUST ME, After you do this step, you'll NEVER go back to frying coated/breaded meat veggies etc any other way again!! The tip is 3 fold. First, RESTING THE BREADED MEAT ETC 10 MINS BEFORE YOU FRY IT. While resting, THIS is when you get your oil hot. But don't put your breaded meat, veggies etc in the oil until it has both rested 10 minutes AND your oil is fully come up to 350°. This is because the resting process BONDS the 3 step breading to the meat & forms the "batter" we are creating with the flour, egg, & crumb mixture process. Without the rest phase, it doesn't bond & create the batter we are trying to create onto the meat or veggie. Instead, unrested 10 min minimum, the coating will either slide off or shift during not only the transfer, but during the flipping, or moving the meat to add more pieces in. You then risk losing sheets or sections of the breading coming off during flip or moving or sticking to the pan. Or risk the breading sliding, so you get bald spots on the meat unevenly coated with clumped thicker doughy spots in other areas it shifted to, & the parts that slid off or stuck to your tongs etc burn in the pan when slide off or when come off in sheet sections when flip or move the meat. When you don't let your breaded meat rest 10 minutes to bonds & form the "batter" its intended to create, it can't properly create the breading WITHOUT that resting phase. Once you rest it 10 min after the final coat of breading, when you go to put it in the hot oil it STAYS PUT...it wont shift or lift off in sections or flaps nor bald in some areas/doughy in other areas. But it WILL FRY PERFECTLY & stay evenly coated over your meat etc & create a perfect golden crunchy crispy texture you're going for from breading it. The 2nd key step is getting the oil to exactly 350° before you put the rested coated food/meat in the oil. If not using an electric skillet to ensure perfect fry temp of 350°. Then just test the oil with a wooden spoon. When the oil starts immediately bubbling around the wood, you're ready. Wait til it does do that before add the meat. or again you risk losing the breading & a soggy final product if oil not 350. Or the other fool proof method if no wooden spoon, is to step back and flick a TINY drop of water in the oil. If it crackles & pops, your at 350. Making sure you rested the breading 10 mins & not laying it in the oil until the oil is 350...this WILL ALWAYS GIVE YOU THE PERFECT RESTUARANT QUALITY FRY YOU'RE GOING FOR. And lastly, 3rd final pro tip...ALWAYS season your FLOUR with salt pepper & any other seasonings you want your breaded meat or veggie to take on. Don't season the crumb layer as it will burn off the seasoning when it hits the oil. AND beat your egg VERY well til foamy so as to prevent batter clumping too from egg not mixed well. Now you'll have the PERFECTLY coated perfectly golden perfect crunch & perfect flavor of your fried foods you were wanting to achieve. (Salt again AFTER the fry is done too unless going in a dish with other ingredients seasoned or salted too). If serving a fried food as its own dish, frying in peanut oil is a flavor game changer too. This knowledge COMPLETELY upped & perfected my frying game 100% . I'm sharing this BECAUSE I know you will appreciate the info. ❤😮🎉😊 And also I MUST say, I have learned ALOT of cooking knowledge from watching YOU in the kitchen as well. Especially regarding canning. MUCH LOVE MY FRIEND 😮& HAPPY FRYING! ❤🎉😊

Oh Becky I felt your pain over not having running water. 2021, Texas froze over. The majority of the state lost electricity. Once everything thawed, city pipes started bursting. The pipes in the home, survived. Unfortunately i still didn’t have running water. Ever since then, I have kept 4 cases of bottled water and 8 gallons of water. Which I cycle thru like my can goods. Just an idea, maybe look into doing the same. My husband grew up in Washington and says it’s normal to lose power and/or water in winter, especially if you live on the hills

Now it’s so rough.. I must say though I do RU-vid too when I can but, I find it extremely tough to do the editing right now. My life is so overwhelmed. But, Becky does her videos early and might be busy for a week or two but, then gets time off because she uploads videos later then she videos them which gives her some time off during the week. And that’s why she does the freezer meals so she doesn’t have to cook all the time. She’s kinda hinted at this plus says a certain day and it’s a couple days later. Like she gives herself weekends off etc. nothing wrong with this however, it’s good to have a schedule so u do have time to urself.. before my husband was gone I didn’t have time to myself and now I really dont have time to myself. Becky does have a husband who is much involved in the infants life and works from home sometimes which allows her more freedom then say most families.. again not a bad thing wish I had that and now I really won’t get that being a single mother.. I don’t care how much social security pays me eventually it will never allow me the freedom as having two parents in the home vs one.. I wish I had what Becky has but, at the same time someone else’s life might appear happy in a video but, behind the scenes not all cupcakes and roses.. all I’m saying is what appears fancy in videos is not what reality may look like.. it’s rough with kids no matter what.. I love Becky’s videos and look to the content aspect of it because I know.. know one’s life is perfect.. mine isn’t, urs isn’t, Becky’s isn’t etc.. I can do a lot with two kids but, usually it’s not quiet it’s hard for me to make videos in stores because my kids don’t behave I have to do photos with voice over., trust me u try to make it work.. being a mother of 4 such as yourself. If u had a schedule with ur husband u too could make things work like Becky does.. I won’t have this option because I’m a single mother not by choice. Recently that is.. but, bless u for all that u do!! Ur a tough cookie to be juggling it all with 4kids I envy u!! Good luck to u dear take care..

Ohhh! 600k! 🎉 We were faced with possible frozen pipe problems over the last few weeks. Husband was almost upset with me for being so nonchalant about it. I just made sure to run laundry every day. Run the dishwasher every day, full or not. Made sure to fill up gal containers of water for the feral cats & our pets every time I emptied them so I was always ahead. I have plenty of bottled water & stored water on hand, and disposable cookware and dishes/silverware. I can’t prevent a water main break, so all I can do about the situation is be prepared to go without. 😊

You are amazing!! You took the pantry challenge to a new level! :) Hope everyone is safe during this crazy weather. I love that you film all your prep work like chopping veggies and shredding cheese. It's pretty helpful for those of us who are still learning!!

A few years ago our pipes froze in Texas and I had to melt snow to have for flushing toilets. lol luckily we could fix our guest house fast and had that to shower and such while we repaired the main house.

I had water, but for a week+ 😷 I had to stay in my room, away from infected housemates. Luckily I have a mini fridge, but Meals in jars & freezer meals plus a hotpot saved me ❤

This is where water storage becomes important. I have 5-6 50 gallon water barrels sitting empty because I haven't found the right place to store them. Our neighborhood did a challenge once where we went for 1 week without either water, electricity for cooking, or any food shopping. The only one I couldn't have handled was the water, and I still haven't learned, apparently, because my barrels are still empty. Good for you for rising to the occasion and allowing/ using family for assistance!

Recently found (and loving) your channel! Commiserating about the storm ... we're in Portland, and we were without water AND electricity for a week! And still better off than several of our neighbors who had house and vehicle property damage from falling trees! It felt a little apocalyptic here for a bit, but no humans or animals were harmed, thank goodness! Hope your homestead is getting repaired and back on its feet!

Sorry you lost your water. Now its the time to plan for storing water for drinking, the chickens, dishes and a way to heat up water for use as a sponge bath. We also have a back up composting toilet that we use a five gallon bucket and some wood shavings/sawdust. Hope you solve your water situation soon.
