Watched Day9 play for 20 mins. Bought the game for €10. Been playing for the past 6 hours. This is an amazing game, better than many above this price tag. Do yourself a favor, go buy this game, it's cheap, you support the Devs and you'll have plenty of fun with it!

You should also check out Islanders - the dev's previous game. It also has the hallmarks of simplicity of rules but insane depth in systems.

@@azure5584I guess he didnt do the first one, so you are correct if you want to be exact about it. He still started it with 3 mutators which is a lot more than Ive seen others do; most people dont bother with any on their first run.

One more thing about cell shading: Some objects needs a solid thick black outline, so it contrasts to the surrounding things. That gives it that "comic-look" as well. You can see it done with the trees here. And some of the mountains. Notice how it gives on of the bigger mountains behind the base a 3D-like effect on the right side, as one black line "cuts" into the side of the mountain. Very subtle and nice

This game reminds me a lot of that 2D pixel kingdom building game where you'd explore during the day and fight off monsters at night, it had a similar money UI and a pouch that could overflow. Happy to have that kind of craving fulfilled!

I wonder if he ever figured out that some units have bonuses against other certain types of units. On the desert map, even just 4 spearmen is really good because they counter the horses and the monsters that rush towards the Nexus. You basically just go as far as you can full eco just using 4 spearmen on one choke with 8 hunters roaming on the other choke and you boom into being able to upgrade all towers to max and it makes the level kind of easy.

It's funny that to achieve complete RTS zen you had to go back to the very roots and make something inspired by Herzog Zwei. Like going into a 35 year long circle. (yes, of course Herzog Zwei is archaic, clunky and cryptic as heck in comparison, but it's still kinda similar)

I love Day[9] and he's such a beautifully intelligent human bean, but ugh, he's got those moments of stupid that make me pause the video. Grabs the perk that makes him deal super low damage while buffing his troops' damage, then doesn't buy troops and loses due to low dps. Then repeats that. Like... nnngh! Just frustrates my inner autist. Pick the intuitively stronger option, please!

26:00 what do you mean land destruction is extremely rare ? You get it for 2 mana, if not 4 or you have a 5 mana creature for land destruction..

My understanding was that Day9 was referring to how land destruction is not a playstyle which is commonly used because to play the game we need land. It would feel miserable if every deck was land destruction in all formats. That's why you find in Standard land destruction is very rarely seen (or found behind various conditions) . Of course if you are referring to the whole of magic, the rarity of card type still applies. There are innumerable cards with draw or that deal damage. In comparison, land destruction is a very small portion of cards available making it quite rare again.

It's also just not good. It's not so much about it being "rare" but rather that it's not meta. You can do it if you want but you're going to lose to someone doing actual meta things.

I haven't seen Day9 since like... end of SC2 years, almost a decade ago. I almost didn't recognize him, he's like bald and overweight, glad he still has the same sense of humor and incite though.
