This video shows exactly what I needed to get my 2004 Toyota Tundra running again. My thottle body actually looked like it wasn't very dirty. It must have been much-needed cleanup that was not visible. I highly recommend this being done. It can be done completely in about a hour and shorter time if all the tools are laid out in advance. The cover is good to put parts in. Some people like to replace the screws, bolts or nuts so they don't forget where they go. Personally, I've lost them trying that, down on the motor somewhere never to be found. Thanks for the awesome information.
This is an 05 or 06 engine with the drive by wire/electronic throttle control. 2000-04 Tundras have still have a throttle cable. You also skipped showing clamping off and disconnecting the coolant hoses.
This video is for a post July made 05 to 06 2UZFE 4.7L Tundra and Sequoia. This is the updated engine that went in the first year 2nd Gen Tundras. At least in the US. The title should be corrected to reflect that. If this an 00 to early 05 Tundra or Sequoia then it has been engines swapped with a updated engine.
Thank you for the video, very straight forward and I was able to follow through on my Sequoia. But after all that the idle is so high and I don’t know if there’s any reset or calibration to do.
Jeez what’s with all the trashing of this video not fully providing the exact info you want. How about be happy he posted it? If you can’t figure out a socket size let someone else work on your car and watch Mr Rodgers instead.
People want every little thing handed to them. I do it now but this video is several years old at this point and some folks just can't seem to grasp that. Thank you so much for commenting and watching.
EXCUSE ME BROTHER DONT TOUCH TO MOVE THE WARE FĹY DESCALI ER NEVER TOUCH TO DONT PASS NOTHING TOUCH IM HAVE MY TOYOTA TUNDRA V8 4.7 2003 IM NEED CLEAN THE THORO BODY MEN
I know this is an old video and I'd like to thank you for it, helped me quite a bit. I do have a question though, is there supposed to be a gasket between the throttle body and the air intake? I didn't see one on mine but I noticed they sell a gasket for my 2005 Tundra with the 4.7l V8?
Thank you for the video, i did the cleaning and after install all back, the engine is 1500 rpm all the time, i run a few miles but nothing change, is there anything else i need to do to set the rpm lower? if you can help us with that info would be great. thank you!
I’d of wiped the junk off the top outside of housing while I was in there, was that a oring seal between those two sealing surfaces or nothing at all where you unbolted that thing from ?
Throttle body cleaner is safer to use. The rubber shaft seals as well as plastic pieces and the electronics inside won't be harmed by proper throttle body cleaner spray, and it won't remove the coating some TBs have applied to the inside.
2CarPros As I said, the formulations are different and can cause issues for the aforementioned reasons. Do not use anything other than throttle body cleaner for throttle bodies, and mass air flow sensor cleaner for MAFs.
2CarPros FoMoCo specifically stipulates TBC be used due to Teflon coated butterfly valves. Anecdotal evidence is not sufficient. Guys will tell you they use straight tap water in their cooling system for years and have no problems. They'll tell you they run no thermostat and have no issues. That does NOT make it ok or safe to do. The manufacturer knows their components best.
Great video, but I have a question my 2000 tundra had the frame replaced, after replacement we start engine and it idles fine but when given throttle it will not rev above 1500rpms no matter the gear you are in. We replaced throttle body since with new OEM but the issue still exists. Any thoughts or guidance on where to go from here. Thank you
That is a pretty complicated question more than I can't answer here. If you like you can head over to our website www.2carpros.com and ask this question for free. One of our automotive experts will be along shortly to help you out. Thanks for watching!
@@phslion Negative. It occurs most often when I tow my boat/trailer on the freeway and get off on an exit. As soon as I release the gas pedal it dies. I have to wait several minutes sometimes for it to restart. Also, if I drive about 15 miles and then let the truck idle for over 20 min, it will die at idle. It has something to do with pulling RPMs above 3000’ish and then the truck can’t recalibrate to the lower RPMs.
@@stoweman34 I've just been helping someone troubleshoot a similar issue. All sources seem to indicate look at the throttle body, gas pedal position sensor, and try a idle relearn. Idle is all controlled by the ECU on these. Interesting it won't instantly restart, a part must be failing when warm. Maybe test your O2 sensors and watch fuel trim levels on a scanner.
Im getting codes P0123 and P2135 and multiple misfires and i reset everything i cleared the CEL and discinnected the battery to make sure it was for sure dealing with the throttle. But no more codes popped up for the TPS sensors. But it is still running rough and feels like it's misfiring. But AGAIN those Throttle Position Sensor codes never popped back up. Could it be my TPS/Throttle body but not tripping the CEL?
excellent, i dp have a Tundra 2001, it start on P or N, but when I do gear at D or R it turn off immediately, what could cause it get off? could you help me?
@@mahtoosacks try to clean your mass air flow sensor with rubbing alcohol or specific electronics cleaner, very easy you can you tube it, if that doesnt work following this video and cleaning rest of intake wouldnt hurt
There are 2 hoses on the bottom of the throttle body that you don't show being removed. What's the best way to take them off? I squeeze the clamps to loosen them, but the hoses seem stuck on there pretty good. I don't want to tear a hose or anything.
I know I'm 2 yrs late but those are coolant hoses that have a simple clamp that can be pressed to remove the hoses... plug them as soon as you pull them.
the sandwitch34 dude I’m in the same position with my 01 tundra Tell me what helped you! Shits in limp mode. Fixed alternator blew main fuse jumping it backwards fixed that it now runs but in limp mode and I had same exact problem pedal goes 80% of the way no response and then catches and jumps Up to 2.3k rpms
Mine is a 05 with the drive by wire I believe. I get vibrations when I put it in gear while idling but goes away in N or P. Can a dirty throttle plate cause that? Also will this procedure mess up a throttle body that’s driven by wire electronically and not cable?
What about the idle relearn. After cleaning the throttle body now it really idles too fast. You should have showed the second part how to relearn the idle.
So the great thing about the LS series from GM is that they are fairly similar. It would look a lot like this but arranged a little different. Thanks for watching!
The only way to TRULY save on fuel costs with any throttle body is with The Gadgetman Groove! This tech has helped over 10,000 just like you, now in 44 countries. (Facebook: Gadgetman Michael) it's a simple adjustment i can do to increase mileage by atleast 25%. These engines usually see between 40-70%, power is increased, and emissions lowered so much you can't smell you're exhaust anymore. It works everytime. Contact me to learn more. Id love to help. Sorry, I realize you asked this a while back. But I believe the sequoia's have the same 4.7L engine Tundra's have. So as long as it's a 4.7L, it's likely the same.
Each year, make, and model, is sometimes different, depending on the generation. It IS the Responsibility of the person doing the work on the vehicle to do this on their OWN! Don't rely on others if your the final wrench. Continue to research, till you get it Right.
robert smith - I spoke too soon.. I disconnected two lines that weren’t shown on the video and figured out coolant flows through them. Thanks for posting the video though. Helped me out and got it done. Runs better now when I use the AC. My truck use to die out.. all fixed now 🍻
Why use carb cleaner on a throttle body? Not the smartest idea. Lol throttle body cleaner is safer for the throttle plate coating and any sensors. Good video
I have been using carb spray on throttle bodies for 10 years and have had zero issues. My father has been doing that since throttle bodies came out with zero issues. Thanks for watching!
