My 2000 5.9 magnum ram has an erratic idle, and intermittent whistling and sucking sound along with power loss. It normally runs normal after reaching operating temperature. I recently acquired the truck as a project for my son, so no history. Thanks my man, love your channel.
That’s how a help video should be made. Simple to the point and professional. Great job. I have a 96 5.2 Limited. Was looking for info on cleaning air flow sensor and this popped up. But your explanation could explain a common issue in these such as won’t go into reverse unless in sits in R for a few mins and won’t shift from 2nd to 3rd until driven for a distance then letting off of the throttle quick. How do you troubleshoot the throttle position sensor? How do you meter it to check it? Would like to see you clean air flow sensor on same Jeep (96 preferably)
My 99 Dakota 5.2 five speed is doing something weird need some help while driving if I put the truck in neutral it idles stop about 2200 I have check the tps and the iacv changed both new cleaned as I was supposed to not getting anything inside the holes etc etc any advice
Great video, My 97 jeep zj does not shift correctly and sometimes the speedometer bounces around even while not moving..I`m starting to not like my jeep..always something weird
Hey whats up man im a big fan of your videos I have a 94 jeep grand cherokee my self so your videos always come threw when I needa do some work on it realy apreciate it man keep it up !! if I need to ask u questions where can i reach you ??
I have a problem with my gas pedal geting stuck and not leting me push it down past a sertin point it gives it gas but not enough to downshift and speed up ...any idea what it might be ?
@@LuisQuezada-ts7zy as silly as it sounds my slush mat sometimes gets caught under the pedal and prevents me from accelerating from time to time Lol. Im not sure what it could be off hand without being there to take a look at it.
I was wondering if you noticed that the Holley install for the TB project you did shows them installing the TPS opposite of what you did here. I am only commenting because I am following your lead. Which is the proper position of the TPS I am confused. Thanks!
I ordered the TPS sensor for my 96 GC 5.2 but it didn’t come with a gasket. I’ve seen in other videos that there wasn’t a gasket on the sensor with their 5.2...so does this really require a gasket?
The mopar sensor for the '93-96 models dont come with gaskets because its built in.. For the '97-'98 models the sensor will come with a gasket, some will be the o-ring or paper
Hey got a 5.2 and it was running like a beast for the year I’ve had it rebuilt tranny 30,000 miles again and engine rebuilt 100000 miles ago and it still runs great but now when the engine warms up and I slam on the gas to test if it revs correctly if I do it to quickly the engine will like choke and sputter sometimes it’ll save it self from Turning off but most of the time it stalls out I’ve changed the cables ,distributor, plugs alternator tps iac I don’t think it’s the map sensor but I guess that’s my next step any ideas???
maybe the MAP - did you change that? any luck? also I hear the intake temp sensor (located usually in the kegger) can be problematic during high heat/engine...also look up blown plenum gasket - common problem for these 5.2/5.9
Hey Barricade, I need a hint. I started having problems with shifting gears and engine stall/ cut off randomly. I decided it had everything to do with the TPS and replaced it but the engine stalled again. Then changed the IAC motor and the stall and cut off dissappeared. The next morning when I started the engine, the rpms went to 1.5k and the check engine throw code 23 (TPS voltage...) and the gear shift was not happening properly. When the engine reached work temperature, everything got ok. Now I wonder whether to blame the new TPS or to change the intake air sensor. Both coolant sensors on the block have been changed. Not sure what except the TPS governs the gear shift and idle and where the temperature reading comes from. Or should I calibrate something TPS/ IAC? When engine gets to work temp, all is ok.
Try pulling the throttle body and cleaning it with TB cleaner and a q-tip. The area where the IAC valve is housed may have alot of build up. Also check the condition of the wiring. Its also a good idea to make sure your battery terminals are clean and making good contact and if possible do a voltage drop test because a bad alternator can give you those symptoms before completely going out on you as well.
@@barricadegarage5361 I know for sure my alternator is going bad, because now & then the check engine light comes on and the charge gauge is sitting to 12V. I rev it up to the limiter in order to fix it and start to charge again and it's ok for the next couple of weeks. Battery terminals are old and need to change it. What's most curious is why it's running bad till it reaches proper temperature. Do we have the battery temp sensor or any other temp sensor that might read bad?
That sounds like an Idle air control valve issue. The best way to figure out the problem is to look at the live data from a scan tool but heres a quick video to familiarize yourself with the IAC and its function ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1LzM0mruL9A.html
Left my jeep running for 3 hours with AC on. Do you think that would have messed anything up. It did not overheat but I was above halfway. Also where should i go get the front steering components? Need the all lol
The engine works harder with the A.C running so its normal for it to be just a tad past 210 degrees but I wouldnt make a habbit of leaving my Jeep running for 3 hours under any circumstance unless im driving it. I dont know exactly what your looking for but heres where I got the steering linkage for my '96 ZJ.. www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-9pc-Complete-Front-Suspension-Kit-for-Jeep-Grand-Cherokee-5-2L-V8-/152566778409 I ordered the steering stabilizer here.. www.ebay.com/itm/8731730-Rough-Country-N3-Steering-Stabilizer-for-Jeep-TJ-XK-MJ-ZJ-WJ-GM-/163743047132 And heres the ZJ steering linkage installation video..ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pAHoNI8TkOw.html And Heres my steering box replacement video:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Mev9d2-N0lM.html
@@garymarlow2333 I havent had to do that on any of my Jeeps but I did one on a wj with the 4.0 motor and yes it was a pain in the ass. If I need to do this on my V8 im going to show you a "cheat code" with easy to follow instruction thats going to make it easier for everyone to get the job done
@@barricadegarage5361 thanks for links. I got a friend with small hands and told them what to do. They got it off and back on haha. It was just a tad past and didn't go further. I broke my track bar right in half so I parked my jeep for about a week. Went to crank it up for just a few minutes. Walked off and forgot till 3 hours. First time I've done it and last time. Only 160k miles and I did water pump about 10k ago. And everything was good just alot of pressure. But thanks for info

The TPS also will cause the engine to buck or punch up a couple hundred rpms only with the cruise control set.. I've had this going on both 98s I've owned. Its REALLY ANNOYING!
