He was absolutely still elite the next season just Uber focused on defense the big 3 all took hits offensively....but your def right he wasn't the same offensively.....KGs in my top ten all time list....in his prime he was absolutely amazing....it was so nuts seeing him in Boston....I'm a Philly guy and remember being so jelly that year....mustbot been an amazing year for Celtic fans.....I'll take this team over any of the super teams that followed..even the kd warriors or stacked heat....KG is my all time 4
I still remember this game like it was yesterday. I knew at that very moment that they would win the chip. They were so dominant defensively. Had KG never suffered that knee injury in 09 in Utah, this team would've easily 3peated. He was never the same player after that injury
I love kg but they wouldn’t easily 3 peat. That 08 Celtic team had to go through multiple game 7s in the east. And they wouldn’t beat the lakers 3 times in a row
KG will forever be one of my favorite players. The passion, athleticism, and smarts that he brought to the game was incredible. Good to see Scal out there too!
Paul pierce was my favorite in 07 Celtics team. I also started to care more about nba during Celtics 07-08 season. Never stop loving this team after 07.
Amazing how Boston turned its season around within one year. You just knew Pierce and KG had it along with Ray Allen the moment they formed that trio. Boston trading the 5th pick for Allen was a sign they were not going to rebuild and preferred to remain competitive.
rebuild? they didnt have anyone that was the rebuild bringing in garnett and allen lol. it won a ring and changed the culture and many winning exciting seasons. still upset they didnt pull the game out today. fucking dumb ass mavericks and dagger threes . thats now three times in a row theyve played where they won the game on last second three. gtfo.
@@justinbaronofsky360 there were no legends in the lakers aside kobe. Gasol was the only other relevant star. Bynum was always injured. Artest is a thug. Fisher isn't a star.
They probably would have but Garnett blew out his knee in the middle of next season. They had the best record in the league at that point that year too.
I can almost guarantee there was a lot of owners, coaches, players, and fans that were shaking their heads after watching this game knowing a freight train of a team was ready to steam roll through the NBA. My favorite team of all time.
and they call Giannis a "superstar"....I hate how people forget about true greatness for the sake of moving on to the next thing. Garnett had the inside presence, the rbs, the passing, the handles, and could shoot from ANYWHERE and make it consistently.....THAT is a SUPERSTAR. People should stop using that title so lightly.
Kg always reminded me of a bigger MJ....just with the crazy competitive nature the defensive dominance the trash talk the fade away....even the look with the bald head......man I think kg is the best power forward ever....Tim Duncan was amazing but always had pop and lots of hof's...... nothing against Timmy hes my number two power forward ever....but KG in his absolute prime was amazing if he got out of the timber "woods" earlier he'd probably have more hardware
If he was a Celtic his while careeer he’d have four rings and he considered the greatest power f of all time. His intensity and dominance on both ends was unmatched
I was watching the game live when ticket went up and came down on the leg😠....change history..This starting 5 never lost a series with everyone healthy!Rondo,#####,Truth,Ticket and Perkins
He was the only legit superstar of the big 3. Overall, the best PF I've ever seen, his mvp season was better than Duncan, Malone and Barkley respective mvp seasons. The major difference is his defense, the guy was a monster on both ends.
@@justsayin669 I think they are on a equal level considering the offense, but on defense KG had the edge. His lone MVP season is the most dominant performance of a PF in NBA history (regular season, of course). But, unlike Duncan, KG wasn't able to sustain this crazy level of play for long. Still a star when he arrived in Boston, but those crazy prime years were gone.
@@RRRRRRRRR33 They are both right there with eachother on offense and defense. KG may have had a slight defensive advantage if any, but they are both top 5 all time defenders. Both of their primes were virtually the same length too, about 10 years. I would say Duncan's prime was 1997-98 through 2006-07 and I would say KG's prime was from at least 1998-99 through 2007-08. Duncan may have been at all star caliber for 1 or 2 more years than KG was, but that's about it.
Had the pleasure of watching KG and Duncan’s careers from start to finish. Hard to say if they were the “greatest” PFs of all time, but I’d definitely say they were the best.
Huge fan of KG since his wolves years. I was so upset when kobe got his revenge the following year. Celtics 5 back when rondo was averaging 12 assist per game.
Kg is my fav power forward hakeem is playing center so that hakeem is best center Kg can shoot outside and inside Can dribble the ball can pass can defense all around thats why i like The big ticket Kevin Garnett
The Big Ticket... if he had the team Duncan had he would have been the best big man ever to play. Hes already top 5 with 1 ring. His best teammates was Sam Cassell and Wally Szerbiak oh and Troy Hudson. KG did everything better than Duncan except have a winning team
I know right, and dont forget the timberwolves drafted ray allen in 1995 but they traded picks withe bucks and they got stephon FREAKING MARBURY, and it was not TERRIBLE, but they blew that trade. And his next best teammate was latrell sprewell who was old and near the end of his career by 2003 they got him in the trade
Rafael Garcia yes. Tony and Ginobili were picked really good. And dont forget that garnett got too much fucking money. So if he wanted better teammates, i dont know, maybe he should have thought about getting less money huh people?
Y'all hear the cheer when Garnett sinks his first free throws? Multiply that noise by a million when Hayward sinks his first shot at the garden next season!
