This song is basically called "tough guy " in Korean, the cliches like wall slam and overall demeanor were popularized by dramas and anime, both Korean and Japanese, so they are to be taken with a grain of salt 😅 sign of the time, if you will. Great reaction, I also love this baby BTS song and V's growly voice. From what I've read they got backlash for objectifying the girl in the video but I also think that was the director. I don't know how much input they had at this early stage in their career. They continued for a while with this bad boy image and sound, I'll look forward to seeing your reactions to War of hormone and Danger. Baby Bangtan is worth watching, all videos , in order. The growth is so amazing to watch. Even as new ARMY, it makes you feel so proud as they get older. It's hard to explain but you get it.

Everyone has their own mentality, so focus on them (Korea). Especially. that everything is described here, like in a drama. (I'm talking about how Suga behaved with the girl). It describes a feeling that guys don't understand when they see the opposite sex. Boys tug on girls' braids to attract attention, because they still don't understand how to explain their feelings in words. And at the end of the video, where he gives her a rose, the moment is shown that he becomes romantic and can already explain his feelings with words.
So glad you like baby BTS, but you must remember they started out as a Hip Hop group, so must of their earlier songs and videos are in dark clothes and eyeliners. But they have matured and evolved to the awesome human beings they are now. Borahae💜💜💜💜💜

The lyrics are a little problematic, they were trying to describe that first crush and the confusion, almost aggression it can cause to teenage boys, crazed with hormones. I don't think they ever thought that this was good behavior but rather the emotions they experienced at the time. However they have since apologized because while for them it felt very genuine they understand it made some people uncomfortable. The song Boy With Love is almost an apology, or at least a show of growth.
To add some explanation to the lyric, "Hold me tight or I jump on or over you.", it is not the thing you may imagine. Just imagine you and your girl friend are on a fast running bus. If you didn't grab something hard to stand safe, you or your girl friend would fall over each other for the bus' sudden stopping or changing moving direction. So it finally means "Why don't you accept me as your someone before it's too late.
Ohhh, interesting explanation, I really didn't understand what was meant by that, to me it just sounded a bit like the English expression "to jump someone", so I was a bit puzzled. Thanks for making it clearer.

I was surprised, too, but I kind of think that they might not have had much input about decisions in their early careers and had to do what the people in the industry (directors, producers etc.) told them to do. I really didn't agree with it, but like some people said, they seemed to have been uncomfortable with it as well and were probably directed to do so by the director of this MV.
@@YouandMe14 yeah and if you would see their MV’s before this, these were even harder hip hop because at the time they were really still trying to find their style and it was sort of the brand or direction given by the company. Would highly recommend you watch “the rise of bangtan”. It’s a really well made RU-vid docuseries that shows their story from the start.
@@YouandMe14 I just finished watching American Hustle Life the other day and these guys freeze up like crazy around girls so I wonder about that LOL. But I definitely agree they were going for a different image at this point in their career. It seems like after their initial success they were granted more freedom to how they express themselves.
They definitely were a bit angrier during their first years. But i love it. The way I interpret this music video and song is like they are exposing the immaturity of how teenagers express, handle and think about love. Boy WITH luv is supposed to be kind of a follow up to this song, with them showing a more grateful, mature and fun type of love; showing how they have grown from angry teens to maybe more well rounded adults (unless people would disagree with me).

Great reaction! If you read about their thoughts about it it is main inspiration for Boys With Love. They said that a Boy w/ love is much different than a young Boy in Luv. A boy with love will treat you better in general - I am paraphrasing but you should really Google search that yourself. It’s one of the videos that they wish they had handled differently but they like the song. That’s what I understood from interviews.
Plus this is the time in the company with a lot more focused on their image and as they grew they got more say and they didn’t want their image to be all about the girl. Or aggressive.

So, the whole theme is obviously a product of the time and image their inexperienced, unsure, baby selves were going for - it's all very tropey. Keeping that in mind, and the fact that they are so aware of themselves now, it's quite safe to enjoy their early material for what it is - portraying youthful infatuation. There's a video where they watch their debut No More Dream and We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2 performances - the best part, hands down, is when J-Hope said, "You can see the passion in our eyes," and V responded without missing a beat, "That's the eyeliner." In all honesty though, especially in hindsight, everything they did to try and get the bad boy image really just made them look younger and cuter. Really, you absolutely nailed your "Then vs Now" of them - it's a natural process, I think, since nobody is going to know exactly who and what they are as artists when they first start out. Boy In Luv has some pretty iconic parts: "ABCDEFGH Hakuna Matata" - An absolute favourite fan chant, this is one of the many inside jokes in House of ARMY (a must-watch once you're more familiar with them) "Wae nae mameul heundeuneun geonde" - This line is just really, really catchy. TXT also references the song and these specific lyrics, complete with the shoulder-shimmy move, in their song Angel or Devil! (Not to mention their stellar cover at 2019 SBS Music Awards.) The HIGH NOTE - even more impressive when you realize it's actually Jimin and Jungkook harmonizing on a high note as it slides up.
I love watching their first music videos...it's so awesome coz it shows you how their music matured with them as they grew from hormonal teenage boys to young caring men. I just love it 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
