Me playing Exanima: Drunk idiot roleplaying and hurting himself as much as he hurts others. Gil playing Exanima: Drunk Martial artist whose inebriation has no effect on his ability to kill with style.
nice to find out such detailed basic information on how to attack after playing the game for 6 years. i couldve played 50 with Sui Generis still not out and not realise how the targeting system works.
You got into it at the end there, but the overhead drags can also be used to hit shield side legs with great consistancy. If you start the overhead straight on, then drag the mouse to the right in a sideways arching motion, the swing will always hit low on their thigh or ankle around their shield. Im pretty sure this has more to do with the AI thinking the shield hitbox is bigger than it is though and not properly moving to counter. My reasoning for this is that Im pretty sure the AI actually will move to block this attack with the small metal buckler which is a significantly smaller hitbox so the AI is aware it has to respond to block it. if you do this drag, the AI will just eat it 9/10 times and it requires very little skill in footwork to pull off.
Thrust is so op. I would like to put my two cents in: if you think about your thrust almost as a LtR, you can pivot on your left foot, drawing the cursor to your character's right just at the start and load up, and kind of side step into the enemy just before you want it to land, the speed and power are increased and it becomes a deadly close range attack. Hope that makes sense. Damn now I have to boot up exanima!
I've been playing this game on a controller, and it's been pretty fun. But it does suck not using THIS level of control. I have been able to manage shield bashes and some polearm throws(with less success).
Hello, please explain. Why does the character in your video move so well and hit so quickly? No matter how hard I tried, moved less, paused between blows, he still seemed exhausted and didn’t want to hit.
All I can do is guess. There seems to be some weird stuff with daggers and lighter weapons that look like exhaustion, or if you're trying to thrust at an ogre, so it could have to do with your weapon. Spears and two hand swords of any size are accurate and responsive. You might want to hit up the bare mettle discord if you're looking for more specific tips.
just wanted to ask if you will ever do a video on takedowns because I have been winning tourneys left and right and I have a lot of weapons and armor sets as of now and though I win tournaments fairly easily I wanted to ask how could I takedown an enemy (knock them onto the ground) I have done it a few times on accident and it feels SUPER easy to do in practice mode but when i go into an actual arena I seem to fail so it would be nice for you to make a video regarding that
I've got a few vids about grappling and throws from previous patches, if that's what you meant by takedown. I plan to do vid about hitting power eventually.
yeah i meant throwing people onto the floor, i didnt watch those videos because I assumed that since it is now 0.9 things in old patches /updates wouldnt work@@GilGamesHello
Almost everything in those videos still works (demo reel - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3cQ1DtdLD0I.html), but the information isn't 100% anymore. If you're easily winning tournaments, you could probably fill in the blanks.@@Mercc_
I've only recently started using magic besides mind sense and I know there's the new force thamuturgy stuff but I haven't seen any good videos that show people the steps to getting undead minions/having them not slaughter derren and all that fun stuff. Thanks for the response!
Functionally, that you point on their body where you want to attack. Technically, that your cursor exists in 2d, but you stab in 3d. In order to guess the height you want to stab at, the game generates imaginary 2d skeletons over the 3d characters and compares your mouse to those skeletons. Without a skeleton to aim at, you'll always do middle height.
I JUST LOVE SUCKING AT THIS GAME, I JUST LOVE BEING STUPID, I JUST LOVE NOT BEING ABLE TO DO THE THINGS PEOPLE LIKE THIS DO AND I FUCKING DO EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAY AND I STILL FUCK UP I LOVE THIS SO FUCKING MUCH, BUT HEY MAYBE ITS BECAUSE I HAVE 40 HOURS ON THIS GAME INSTEAD OF 100 ILL JUST REWATCH THE VIDEO OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER LIKE I HAVE BEEN DOING EVER SINCE LAST WEEK WHEN I GOT THE GAME AND STILL FUCK UP, ILL PUT MY DAMN CURSOR ON THEIR HEAD AND YET THEY STILL DODGE OUT THE WAY, ILL TIME IT AND STILL THEY MOVE OUT THE WAY, I WISH MY BRAIN COULD COMPREHEND SUCH SIMPLE TASKS,
It's ok not to succeed. Practice is essentially failing with purpose and then even after practicing it takes time for your brain to process the experience into skill. I have practiced these moves for literal years and have felt the way you sound. If Exanima was simple or easy, no one would watch my videos and you just got the game last week. Cut yourself some slack. This video isn't exactly comprehensive, either. You can find a lot of help on the Bare Mettle discord if you bring gameplay clips.
@@GilGamesHello When i made this comment i think 3 days ago i was very angry, this was mainly because your videos would pop up into recommended and i would try to re-do the things you do in arena mode and would fail harshly. I calmed down and it hit me that not only is this a game and I'm acting like I NEED to learn this, but i didn't need these fancy moves such as the false edge to win, all i needed was patience and timing with my attacks, I haven't played arena since I made this comment and I'm stuck on level four because of the demons, not sir, I destroy him, that's irrelevant I have been able to knock people onto the floor and have learned ONE fancy move that kills almost anything in a single blow which is the swing-overhead. I would really like to say thank you because man was I pissed commenting this looking like a fool but now I kinda realize how dumb I looked so thank you for the encouraging words.
People skateboard for fun because it's fun to do tricks, but when was the last time skateboards got a content update? Maybe if I wasn't making videos I'd find it boring. The community stuff like sharing clips on discord adds a lot of value to the experience.
@@GilGamesHello yeah no I get that analogy but I mean as a player of the game aren’t you like extremely disappointed that the devs barley work on the game anymore and just keep it on life support?
@@goombatsperagallo7459 I don't know what you're talking about. They recently released v0.9, with a new story level, new features, material system, and force magic then put out a dev diary, including a video, 2 days ago. No, I'm not disappointed.
@@GilGamesHello I mean ofc ik abt the new update that’s why im here lol but that was there biggest update ever and that was after like a strait year of no new content whatsoever. I’m just wondering if I’ll even live to see this game finished because they sure are taking a very long time (10+ years now)
