I would mostly agree. Thrustmaster is basically the oldest sim wheel manufacturer that's still at it. I have a T818. They purposefully made certain things separate for the sake of increased profit margin; however, they learned from this on the T598 and included items like a desk clamp/mounting kit. They also just recently released an entire QR UPGRADE (not adapter) that attaches to a good amount of standard-style TM rims (I believe 9 of them technically) how the original twist on adapter section of the rim attaches to the rest. It comes with proper cabling too and removes the adapter situation. Very cool option. They definitely listen for the most part, but they REALLY like to take their time on showing that they're listening. In my opinion it's always been worth it to wait so far. T818 was the best sim racing decision I've made and blows my Moza R12 setup out of the water even AFTER the recent Moza FFB update, which did noticeably change the feel for the better. Thrustmaster cares about a really good feeling wheel that caters to most sim racers in one way or another, but I will say it is almost sinister how early they announce products before they're actually ready for release 🤣 I think they said they were working on a console DD for the future right when the T818 was ANNOUNCED too. And they only just finally released it in the form of the T598, which is an awesome wheel it seems, all things considered. I'm not a Thrustmaster fan boy, but I do think their FFB drivers have consistently been best-in-class. I was impressed to find that my opinion still stood tall when they entered the DD market. Thrustmaster just gets it in a way others don't 🤷
Honestly I hope that Thrustmaster will do a shaft extension that allows you to put the monitor rightly behind the wheel, because it looks really tall and that breaks the immersion tbh
2:34 Dayum boy! This cool! I did not saw such comparison/demonstration anywhere else so I had no idea that DD wheels have such coging! I own belt driven wheel from Thrustmaster T-GT II and I thought that DD wheels do not have any coging/grind feel ETC. Or that if it exist then it is suppressed somehow by software/firmware. Sadly no test on PC games. But you did good job and very informative on this wheel! Good s&&t man good s&&t!
You could improve the grip and feel of the rim, by wrapping it with tennis grip tape. I've done it with all my rims and it does wonders! Plus you have a wide selection of different tapes to choose from.
I also have had issues with it tripping my circuit breaker. Usually happens about an hour into play with the wheel at 100%. When I've turn the power down to 60-75% I haven't been able to trip the breaker.
Im using the 598 also use the clubsport dd and while the 598 is quick the clubsport is faster Nd gives me high frequency feedback on traction loss that im not feeling on the 598 for some reason
You shouldn't be using your wheel as a leverage point for getting up and down on any wheel. Yea sure some are pretty strong, but none are designed with the intent to support the vertical forces imparted by holding a person's weight 🤷 Edit Also TH8A. Lol. I know it looks like an R on the box. But come one man, bare minimum requirement when you review a product is to know what it's called. 😂😂
