In this video I take a look at the Thrustmaster TPR rudder system. Is this, finally, a PC Rudder system that won't leap around the floor, won't spike, won't break and will handle heavy abuse? Watch to find out.
For more information on the Thrustmaster TPR please take a look at the link below

Have had mine for about 3 months after trying all the plastic ones over the decades. Amazing rudder pedals! No comparison from the other plastic ones. If you can afford these, by all means look no further. Thanks for your honest review and all of your flight related videos!

Great review as always, Froggle. I purchased these about 3 months ago and LOVE them. I fly IRL and like to practice engine failures in commercial transport aircraft and could never really finese the rudders until I bought these. The TRP's are excellent in every way. I don't find them uncomfortable at all either. Well worth the coin if you can afford them.

Real-Life SEP PPL here, I bought those rudder pedals to force myself to get the heels on the floor (and not braking by mistake). A rudder is not aimed to be comfortable, but to mimic a specific position. This one gives a good feeling of what is used in GA, except that in a Cessna, the rudder pedals are much closer one to each other.

First thing that threw me when I flew a 150 for the first time having learned in the old Pa28. Also the castoring nosewheel was like taxiing whilst high on LSD until I got the hang of it and realised that I was much better off using diff. braking to steer the nosewheel rather than cajoling the nose left and right with power and lots of rudder..... Then when I did my IMCr and went back to the Pa28, I found the rudder pedals horribly heavy. Never happy, me....!

Hi froogle, I watch a lot of your reviews before buy and news keep up the hard work. I bought these in a deal that was with the Honeycomb yoke of Aerosoft website. The rudder pedals are super and very precise as you say. worth every penny and I love them both products. I use double sided heavy duty tape to hold mine in place instead of drilling holes into my floor that does the best job.

Two years ago after I bought my Warthog and noticed I miss something for flying my Star Citizen ships I bought the Crosswinds. But since Star Citizen is still not really playable I dodged it and played a bit World of Warplanes for some month. Fast forward nearly two years I finally can play IL2 in VR and brought back my Warthog and Crosswinds. But to be honest I don't like them that much. They moved easily on carpet and even easily on parquet. Thus I bought the TPR (I completely missed, I had NO CLUE there were better pedals out there) and I have to say that these are much better than the Crosswinds: 1) they do not move, 2) they have a linear motion instead of the rotational on the crosswinds and many other pedals, 3) I don't like to rest my feet on the pedals.

I went from the MFGs (which are excellent) to the TPR a number of months ago. A agree that these are supremely good in every single respect. "Heels down to the floor" during take off as in a GA-plane as opposed to the whole foot being "inside" the pedal, and the precision and the heft of the whole system. Great stuff! :-D Now, Froogle, go forth any get thyself a Brunner Yoke and have your life transformed! I can't recommend it highly enough :-D

@@nexus888 Returned the TPRs too and bought a pair of forcefeedback from Brunner. I have the yoke from the same company as it's incomparable, even with TPR. Compared to MFG is an improvement due to the sturdiness of the build. Full metal feels nice compared to composite. But as I said, if you want to feel a real pair of rudders try Brunner CLSE. You need rudder pedals on big jets for crosswind landing so saying you don’t need rudder pedals is wrong. For fighters you most definitely need rudder pedals. To do a lot of manoeuvres you need to coordinate the banking with the rudder. Plus flying a jet that loses an engine on one side needs rudder inputs until you can trim it out. So yeah... to fly properly you need rudder pedals or al the very least a joystick with a twist rudder.

For rudder pedals that won't stay put, just go to your hardware store and buy some non-slip rubber matting. Cut it to size (slightly larger than the floor plate) and job done. I use it on my Saiteks. You can lift gently with your toes for positioning, but once they are flat they don't move. Wash every few weeks in soapy water to clean to retain the "stickiness". Roberts your fathers brother.
@cebrady
@cebrady 2 года назад
And if on carpet or rubs, grab Command Poster Hanging Strips - plop them on the underside and hold till secure and they'll stick incredibly hard to the floor. They leave no residue when you remove them which is a plus.
@johnmclean6498
@johnmclean6498 2 года назад
@@cebrady I find the pedals need a good clean and dose of WD 40 every now and then. It's very dusty and nasty down there which accumulates on the setup. My way is easier for that.

They are certainly good pedals and the design is pretty solid. That being said, in the grand scheme of flight simulation peripherals, if your company sells pedals that cost more than your top-end HOTAS, there is a problem. I am sure that these are expensive to make but I sense that the usual Thrustmaster mark-up is at play here and perhaps in a bigger way than it is for their other flight sim stuff. I hope that simmers don't feel pressure to buy these when many will be just as happy with cheaper models like the CH pedals or even Crosswinds. $500 for rudder pedals is rather extreme and while some can happily afford it, that doesn't make the price less extreme.

I'm sorry Froogle, but in real planes, we DO keep our feets ON the rudder pedals, even under AP in case of an engine failure. It's one of the first way of being rejected at an ariline simulator assessement (not having his feets on the rudder).

Only at the end did you clarify that the foot pain was from using them without shoes which had me confused as to whether you had some personal feet problems that were the issue. For me, using them without even some sort of slipper or light shoe would kind of be immersion killing for me anyway. Though, you could probably use some pipe insulation foam over them if this was your home sim preference in sock flying. ;)

It would seem that the going price on these is now 599 dollars. Thats the retail price listed at thrustmaster web site and on line sites like bhphoto. Forget about seeing these offered at Best Buy. I had the warthog yoke and thrust ordered but canceled it as its just too big and bulky for ww2 i-l2 flying. Just going to use my cheapo 30 dollar logitech stick. If thrustmaster ever comes out with a replica mustang or any ww2 one i will be all over it. I am aware that trustmaster yokes along with most others seem to break after a year or two so its much easier to replace a 30 dollar yoke over a 550 dollar one. I cant skimp on rudder pedals though. I just wish i could find an established place to get them for 599. I am on the bhphoto list for when it gets back in stock. I neved heard of sites like pro pilot.

Who is the genius asking for a video of something that doesn't work? They want the Control Panel picture showing the product, but Windows doesn't recognize it so how will it show up in the Control Panel, and if it is not recognized, how will it show up in the flight Sim? $599 for something that doesn't work while support plays delaying games!
