This video, he was around 18 months. At 2 years old we got him the Shotgun Bike Seat so his brother could use the Thule. I’m not gonna tell you where you should and shouldn’t ride, that’s a skill assessment on your part. As for me, I did take him on some mild single tracks with it. It’s very secure, to the bike as he was in the seat. Highly recommend. My plan if I lost control was/is to cocoon him with my body and take the hit wherever it may be myself if possible. But I didn’t do anything to risky with him either. Just some flowy trails in my area. I do remember taking a small jump with him and his helmet/head popped up and hammered my chin so after that we avoided leaving the ground 🤣
What material is your bike? Because I have a carbon bike and Thule does not recommend using the saddle on bikes made of that material... did you have any problems with the saddle?
@@1caradduraa1 it’s not bad at all. There’s no difference in handling with him there besides a little reduced turning radius. We’ve hit some small jumps and features and never been an issue. Just got to exaggerate your form a little more. Stick that butt waaaay back lol.
Wow you have a pretty negative mindset assuming I’m going to wreck with my son on board, but thanks for your concern. Im a firefighter/paramedic and a former military medic, I’m fully aware of the risks I’m taking. I’m also aware that due to my boys deliberate exposure to mountain biking, rock climbing and whitewater rafting and kayaking as well as hiking and camping, they will have a greater understanding of the outdoors, and physical fitness and not be reliant on screens or apps and internet to have a good time. Stay positive friend and avoid critiquing parents from afar. It’s never received well.
