As a kid, I always wanted to be in love, to find someone to love like Cornelius loves Thumbelina. And I still do, this song has always been the greatest love song to me. If I had to pick a song to describe what love feels like to me, it's this song.
It’s funny I was never bothered about finding love as a kid no matter what love songs or fairy tail cartoons there were that I watched. I just enjoyed the films and songs and took them for granted. Now I do tho
@@naivelopez3601 dude same, growing up on fairy-tales has raised my expectations tho lol if he won't serenade with me about wings and fly me around on a bumblebee, is he even worth my time???
@@runaway_gh0st2 right?! If he doesn't want to see the universe and dance on Saturn's rings with me is it worth it? I grew up with fairy tales too and am a huge fantasy/romance book lover so am still feeding myself fairy tales lol
I agree!, I'm 26 now, but I will never forget hearing that voice. The more I think about it the more I realize how much this movie helped me fall in love with love, and signing.
Cornelius’ second “And I’ll never let you fall!!” As he proceeds to drop the thankfully unaware Thumbalina is still one of my favorite parts of this song to date. Such lovely and seamless comedy to break up the opera a just enough and make Cornelius from a “gallant fairy prince” into a real, clumsy young man in love is so amazing and wholesome. 😂❤
I just watched this movie for like the 30th time and it’s been the only time I have been old enough to notice how smooth Cornelius is and man is he smooth! I mean he was my favorite Disney prince when I was younger! Also I want this played at my wedding
Except this is a Don Bluth film. Granted, he used to work for Disney, but he left due to creative differences among other things. But no matter what Disney "owns" nowadays, I will always consider this Don Bluth's film. He's a man that made such good movies he actually rivalled Disney at the box office before---so give this man his due respect.
I was just looking into the cast of 'Thumbelina' cause Cornelius' singing voice, reminded me so much of Dimitri's voice from 'Anastasia' and I didn't realize they were both created by him and Gary Goldman. Both movies were my favorite along with 'The Land Before Time'! I always wondered why for 'Anastasia' being produced by 20th Century Fox.. was somehow similar to 'The Land Before Time' and 'Thumbelina'-- It finally makes sense now why I loved all those movies and how they have a similar feeling of wonder and adventure in all of them! Don Bluth was the answer!!! All my favorite childhood movies had his magic touch✨👏
Let me be your wings Let me be your only love Let me take you far beyond the stars Let me be your wings Let me lift you high above Everything we're dreaming of will soon be ours. Anything that you desire, Anything at all. Everyday I'll take you higher And I'll never let you fall. Let me be your wings Leave behind the world you know For another world of wondrous things. We'll see the universe and dance on Saturn's rings. Fly with me and I will be your wings. Anything that you desire, Anything at all. Everyday I'll take you higher And I'll never let you fall. Let me be your wings (You will be my only love) Get ready for a world of wondrous things (Wondrous things are sure to happen) We'll see the universe and dance on Saturn's rings. Heaven isn't too far. Heaven is where you are, Stay with me and let me be your wings.
She voiced another character in a movie called king of dreams and she’s currently working with angel studios in a series. Jodi also had a cameo in Enchanted I didn’t realize til years later
Don Bluth did that so well for the animation technology of that day. I consider his work for Thumbelina and Anastasia to surpass much of the Disney offerings.
@@creamyalmondzIn this version, it’s voice actor/singer *Gary Imhoff* :) He sings with *Jodi Benson* (Ariel from The Little Mermaid). Barry’s version of this can be heard during the film’s credits. Both versions are beautiful and romantic. Sigh 😍
I don’t care if it’s cheesy. This IS playing at my wedding 😌 Edit: random update but I was at a party with my crush and I said I wanted to play this song at my wedding and he thought I was adorable and now he has a crush on me!!! This song works wonders!!!
I KNOW! Its SO underrated but I think its cause its not a Disney movie; if it was a Disney movie, it would've been a HUGE hit and have more recognition!
noemistephanie93, Nah I think it's cos Thumbelina didn't 'come on the road' so she never became 'hot muchacha' (this is a shitty attempt at a joke ik but fuk it
This movie was my childhood. I always thought Thumbelina had a kind of relatable personality (as far as the whole love thing). Even though she seems to fall in love instantly, her love seems to be more "crush level". And when her prince doesn't come for her, she accepts that she needs to start doing things on her own. Plus the voices always seemed more realistic. It's the little details in these movies that make them favorites.
@@davidlevy5274 That's a favorite of mine too! Takes them much longer to fall for each other. Tbh the Beast was a walking red flag at first but Belle didn't fall in love with him then, she fell in love with him later AFTER he grew and changed. The Stockholm's syndrome complaint some people have is valid, but they forget that she wasn't being held hostage after he saved her from the wolves. She saw a struggling person and chose to stay and help him heal and grow.
I don't understand why so many people hate Don Bluth movies so much. Sure, a fraction of them may seem cheesy (unlike modern Pixar movies), but the messages they send in their on context have meaning and the 2D is truly well crafted.
Considering the piss-poor reputation Disney has and my resentful views on them, I'd pick Thumbelina over their overrated crap and watch it just to piss them off.
Thumbelina will always be remembered to me as an introduction to his music. I also loved Pebble and the Penguin even though I didn't see that one until I was 17.
I wonder if they'll turn this into a musical... I mean Anastasia turned out really well... I mean that movie was a masterpiece anyway but this could use the treatment of musical theatre...
Growing up, I absolutely loved this movie, but then a few years ago, I showed it to my sister because, hey I loved this movie. But she also fell in love and watched it all day every day for literally the next year. Now I can't stand watching the movie, but I do still love the music
@@josephrowe849 I admit they can be a mixed bag nowadays. And I wasn’t a huge fan of their Renaissance era. But they can still make a good movie once in a blue moon. They need something Encanto level amazing right now.
True love lifts you and inspires you, and this song perfectly captures what is unconditional love 💓 this song makes me cry of joy and yearning. I hope I can dance to this with my future love
Still such a beautiful movie and the animation for the whole scene is just breathtaking, this is why I will always love animation more than live action.
This song is just beyond beautiful…the fact that this is part of a cartoon and not some amazing Broadway performance is stunning to me. It’s so magical and beautiful….I love it so much…even though I haven’t seen this movie in like a decade I still adore it and this song so much!
This is my favourite cartoon song from my childhood... that magic can make fall in love in some one.. its so wonderful song that I never forget i knew the melody for long and when I learned long ago english I enjoyed song even more.. love is amazing with this song ❤️😍 And this male voice is something I never forgot and I was fall in love in this prince always.
This movie is so amazing! The music, storyline, characters are just so beautiful! This song has me crying! This reminds me of when I was a child, the good old days...
I don't care what anyone says about this movie, yeah it has plot holes, yeah it has questionable animation choices and character choices, but you gotta admit it has some banger songs
I kinda wish they would remake this film with a better plot line & have the prince & Thumbelina's relationship with more depth. Idk. The film was alright but honestly it could've been better. This song is DEFINITELY such a hidden gem. I absolutely love it. I feel like they coulda used this song a bit later in the film when their relationship really begins to blossom & bud. IDK GUYS. I JUST REALLY WISH IT WAS WRITTEN DIFFERENTLY. ITS AN SUCH AN AMAZING & ROMANTIC SONG. It really deserves to be in a more well-written plot😭😍
It's definitely better and deeper than the short story it's actually based on, which I've read out loud in front of a high school English class. Everyone else read dark stuff like "The Monkey's Paw", so I decided to lighten the mood with fairies. There's definitely such a thing as too much Edgar Allen Poe.
This song used to give me hope in finding someone who made me feel the way they do in the song. Sadly I did for a while but he hurt me so badly. Now I just sing the song to remind me of my childhood when my mom was still alive
Opening of Miss Siagon "Sun and Moon" in there at the beginning.... Came back over this today, hadn't heard it for years. Was obsessed with this VHS when younger... 😂 Think I broke the VHS with this in the end in childhood.... Such an underrated movie.... They don't make beautiful music movies like this anymore for children.... Such a sadness.... So many important life lessons through these types of films :) z
I always come back to this darn song ever few years. The fact that it says uploaded 10 years ago and I remember when it use to say 2. This channel got me through some hard times. So happy I can still come back here.
