My mom grew up during the Great Depression and they had an ice box. Even up to when she died our refrigerator was an ice box. I still call it that.

There are a lot of places in the world that still use ice boxes, including places right here in North America. It wasn't that long ago we used them!

To DadmanWalking55...the stilts are also for the rainy seasons. You don't need to live next to a body of water to get flooded out

Indeed! I think that was his first guess. The floods in those places are nuts and come in places you'd never expect! Chees!

Poor Dadman, looks like you've never had Menudo. Which is made with tripe (the lining of a cow's stomach), hominy and pig's feet and knuckles.

That is an interesting dish Susan, one that i've never heard of! Thanks for that. When travelling it's always fun to try local dishes even if they are 'edgy' heh heh.

@@CanadianSpiderMan Menudo is a Mexican soup and from what I've heard it's the only cure for hangovers.
