I got a THX sub years ago for $120 Canadian, the Logitech Z623 and before you laugh, I know a guy that said it outperformed their 12" Klipsch sub. It's a little powerhouse of a sub!
@@carewser Well, rattling a house does not necessarily constitute a good sub. It just means it hits a frequency on which something in your house resonates.
@@TheFrugalAudiophile I didn't say it was the sub to end all subs I was basically just saying for the money it's amazing. Even if just the sub were $120 it would be an excellent deal as it has a 130 watt RMS amp but it includes 70 watt satellite speakers as well. Find me another sub that can do what it does even without satellite speakers for that price
The new Jamo C 910 sells for about $200, do you think you'll get one for testing? I was hoping to hear a slightly better review as it seems like a good budget subwoofer.
The Monolith 8" really is a good sub despite the few issues I noted. I should have said in the video that I plan to keep it and use it in my desktop 2.1 setup. I may pick up a C 910 or 912 for testing one day. From what I a tell by the specs I don't think it would hit quite as low as the Monolith. It might have a greater SPL at all other frequencies tho.
Unfortunately, I don't have S 810 anymore. The monolith sub is specced to hit a lower frequency a greater SPL. I think the monolith is a little tighter too, especially in sealed mode.
If I recall, I got around 25Hz in room with EQ1 -- which is plenty for music and almost enough for home theater. $200 is a pretty good deal, but they do go on sale new for cheaper every once in awhile. I got my for $173! If you can wait a bit for a sale then I would. If you need it now, $200 for open box is a pretty good price! Make sure it has the same 30 day return policy and 3 month warranty as a new one just in case.
@@TheFrugalAudiophile So, which is it? 173 bucks or 177 bucks, as you say in your video? :) I assume, there's nothing wrong with your ears, but are you aware, that the sound volume and quality is all over the place in this video? I guess, it's learning by doing? Maybe you went too frugal (new word for me), with your microphone or some other equipment? I wish you all the best on this channel and in its/your future. :)
@@supergrissi Yah, I didn't realize my mic was unplugged at first and I did not want to re-record the first part. I did fix it fairly early in the video tho. Since it's just my voice I didn't think it was that big of deal.
@@TheFrugalAudiophile Yes, it is ridiculous. It is really getting out of hand, especially with hi-fi audio equipment. I am putting together a new sound system for my computer and the speakers I want to get for the mains needs a sub. I don't want a bit sub either and this Monoprice sub looks like it would fit the bill. But now it is $100 more than from your review.
