Replacement of tie rods on 1994 Jeep Wrangler YJ. Step by step process of how to do the project. With this project, I was able to keep the alignment very close according to the guy at alignment shop.

Can u please show a proper jack stand placement for front axle on a 1993 YJ ( mine has a 4” lift ). Also is it ok to place hydraulic bottle jack under differential to lift front end up in order to place jacks ? Great video by the way, very helpful. Thx

How does the alignment work if you buy a whole set that already comes together? I’m switching my stock TJ tie rod parts for a ZJ tie rod and the set I found online comes all out together. Would I have to disassemble it for the measurements to match my Jeep?

How do you know what size the tie rod boot is? My brand new tie rod for the drag link has a small hole in the middle. How do you know what size boot goes on it?

Great video, perfectly explained. I just had one question though. So when I click on those parts you listed and go to Amazon it says that those parts do not fit on a 1990 Wrangler. Is Amazon incorrect or has maybe the link you provided changed?

I have the 4.2L Sahara. So maybe it's different for some reason but usually anything not engine related still works just fine.

The steering setup is the same. Often times a site and/or product page will neglect to add all applicable model and when it says "this does not fit" it doesn't mean they know it won't, just means that it isn't listed as one of the model groups that does fit. Sometimes the omission is intentional because somewhere in the middle of the older model group there was a change for this particular system and it will fit some within it and not others. In this case it's the former

Why do you have to replace the tie rods? I can see replacing the ends if the are worn and not greased. Were they bent or damaged? TIA Mike

The ends were worn out, and some are 1 piece. I know, seems like a waste, but it's how they made them.

How did you decide which model Jeep to buy ? I want to buy my first one in the next year. What model years have the good frames that don’t rust a bunch ? Is there any road ride difference between the Jeeps with the leaf springs versus independent suspension. ?

Hey brother do you think these parts being worn could cause clunking in front. I've changed almost everything up front except tierods and draglinks. What you think?

Clunk when turning? Or when going over uneven terrain? Tie rods move with the suspension and if severely worn, could be catching and making a sound with movement.

JeepSolid when going over bumps and potholes. replaced all of suspension. steering shaft and bearing, motor and trans mount. still have dang clunk though. frustrating. might try tie rods next

which tie rod end is reverse threaded ? driver or passenger side ?

I think it's the passenger side, but honestly, I can't remember off the top of my head.... :/ I'd have to go look at the threads.

Why do you need to get an alignment done if you put everything back to the same specs?

Good question. You don't have to get an alignment done if you're very careful and get everything back to the same spot. You'll have to take some measurements to be sure as some tie rod ends can have different threaded lengths. Thanks for watching.

As a triple check you can measure the end you just took out against the replacement you're about to put in to see whether you should anticipate a difference, but you're right of course there's no replacement for the final assembled measurement (as well)

thanks for the attemp on here but if you do another film perhaps you can speak to the recording after its film in order to hear you .once you turn your back it records your voice way to low . UNTIL you speak towards the audio recording. perhaps you think it don't matter but if i don't know what your saying i need to ASSUME IT IS .
