It can be super stuck… as you’ve noticed. Best to start by holding the outside and twist the inside. Then twist back and forth as you slowly make progress.
What is the symptom of a dead spot? Like say driving at cruising speed and maintaining speed puts position at dead spot. I have two vehicles do the the same as above, but different symptom. One vehicle it will sputter until I change throttle position either by giving it more gas or a little less. The other vehicle will surge rpm until I change position up or down. First is cable 2nd is drive by wire.
imma not a pro, but need a video that cranking the engine and see the voltage while we cranking. you guys know what i mean right? imagine old battery while cranking volt gonna go down like 9.5v never can start the cold engine even without cranking voltage stated 12.6v something . and after pulse we need to see if volt can hold up while cranking the engine because , i got 1 smart charger without repair mode, 12v 20a charger easy to get my battery alive again , but only can get below 5 time cranking
It's great to watch mechanics that aren't afraid to show some of their problems and/or mistakes. A great learning experience for those of us that haven't done this job before. Thanks! Great Job!
Anyone find raising this transmission to be difficult? Currently have a pry bar to raise the platform. The jacks gets less than halfway up and then bogs down with extreme resistance. I think if I force it, I'll damage the jack. Lowering and attempting again and am still met with resistance.
Had to sub for 1 reason. Ur a hawks fan!!! And how to rebuild this engine comes second. 😂 ty for the vids love it. I want to get one of these jeep as well and do the same thing. U got urself a fan for sure now!!!
Great info! As a best practice, what would be the average mileage to ensure that the jeep will still give you peace of mind in the years to come? Thanks!
Are the distributors in a fixed position on these? In my experience, which is absolutely zero with Jeeps (just got my first YJ) you get it to tdc on #1, and just drop the distributor in, wherever it's now pointing, is now the #1 plug wire. But those were adjustable.
I can't get the saddle tilt to stay put no matter how hard I tighten the wing nuts... The weight of the transmission is just too much for that cheap wing nut set up. Either that or I just got a faulty one but other than that it's a great lift.
Mine is making the same sound! We completely replaced the distributor cap and rotor button, added WD40 all of that and it’s STILL making this OBNOXIOUS noise! What do I do now?
*_FANTASTIC!_* You're the only person who has uploaded instruction on how to replace this seal on a Dana 30 CAD axle. Factory service manual and other manuals don't address this. Very clear, well-detailed/filmed and informative. You even provided links for easy access to parts that are otherwise very difficult to find. Many thanks!!!
Hey Dale. Long time watcher first comment! So I have a Jeep YJ and I checked it per the video and my O2 sensor is good (code 51). At idle the Jeep will start low idling to sputter and then kick back up to normal idle and cycle back and forth. No other issues during driving. I checked the wire from the engine compartment and I’m getting a low voltage reading (100 DC mV - 400-800 is norm op range)…. And I cannot figure out what the issue is. All new(er) air and temp sensors in the engine bay and no vac or exhaust leaks I can see. Any tips??
I’ve watched a few of your videos and they are very helpful to me. I have 95 jeep wrangler with the 4.0 in it. At some point I plan on putting in an all aluminum radiator in it.
Is this the 5.2(which I have)? Also, there are 2 options for the seal. One like you have, which we used. And another with "ears" on either side of 1 of the seal halves. What's the difference? I can't find any information on this. Anyways, as soon as we started the engine, pressure was at 40psi. Everything seemed fine. 5 minutes later, the seal was leaking again! Even worse! We didn't use lock-tite or rtv. And didn't loosen othe caps bolts. Not 100% sure my buddy kept the 2 bolts in order. Please help. This is my only vehicle and I drive 21 miles to work.
Thank you Sir for helping me out with this video to replace the windshield gasket. But there were more stuff I had to remove, like the both sides visors and side moldings. 👍🏻🤙🏻 From Redondo Beach, Los Angeles, California.
Have same issue on my 98. Put on new calipers and replaced original flexible lines. Also tested brake fluid. It was on the high side for water content. Drained and replaced. I think when I replaced calipers 3 years ago I left the cap off the master for a few days which probably led to the high water content. Live in the Southeast so it is humid. Will see.
A lot of what you use is vehicle specific. My 03 Tacoma requires Gl-3 or Gl-4, while my 19 Subaru requires an oil that meets GL-5 specs since it shares the oil with the front differential
Hi great videos by the way!! 👍🏼 I have recently purchased a 1997 XJ Cherokee ( love it!!) I have been towing with it this weekend, so working harder that normal, after switching off the engine water was coming out of the expansion vessel, I have left it overnight, topped up the coolant and driven it to my garage and the temperature stayed at a nice 90°c Do you want this to be a long-term vehicle for us? So what would you do to guarantee a hasslefree future for this vehicle regarding cooling and overheating? Love you by the way, look forward to hearing from you, Chris (UK).
product called Challenger . used to clean the trucks at work sells at Ace harware, manardes $ 9.00 a gallon. used it for 30 years . leaves film on glass, eats away latex paint. cleans bathtub rings great. cleans tires exellent
My Temp and oil pressure gauges just stopped working. All the lights and all the other gauges are fine. Any suggestions? I just put a new circuit board in it as well as new bulbs while I had it apart.
