All the best albums from the Earache label, especially Enslavement and World Downfall. Brutal Truth are kind of forgotten from the rest of the genre I find.
Holey moley, I saw Wormrot open for Napalm Death here in Berlin a week or so ago and god DAMN, they blew the doors off the place. So good. Heard they're back in the EU in summer too!
Yeah, we are going to see Napalm with wormrot in a week or so in Liverpool. Never seen wormrot, looking forward to it even more now!!! Thanks for watching!
Great content, keep it coming! Wormrot and Brutal Truth (the shown albums) aren't actually too far apart. Gorerotted's first album would have been an honorary mention for me. Brutal as eff as well. Got the dual vocalists in it as well!
Firstly, good list, but, what actually makes grindcore, grindcore? What are the components that makes it what it is? We have the speed, but not every fast band is grindcore, the lyrics (political and social commentary), but not every band that have lyrics like that, are grindcore. I wouldn't put A Holocaust in Your Head (any of the versions recorded) as grindcore, even though they were a huge influence on the genre, as well as Repulsion (fast, thrashy, and a huge influence, but are they grindcore or death metal?). Is Carcass a grindcore band, or are they a natural progression of Repulsion's death metal, if that is how you describe them, creating a new genre in gorecore or goregrind, if you will. Trying to quantify the genre is such a big task, and all I can give is my list to show where I'm coming from and a short description why. Napalm Death - Scum (coalesce all the influence on offer (anarcho punk, Discharge, Celtic Frost, Repulsion, to create not one but two versions of the genre - side one is the punk, side two is the grime), Napalm Death - From Enslavement (a band that has recognised the genre, with more variance in writing and structure, with experimentation thrown in), Napalm Death - Peel Sessions 13th September, 1987 (near enough noise core), Napalm Death - Mentally Murdered (deathgrind, a clear continuation on the theme, with guitar solos and a near perfect release). I front loaded ND as they were a gateway band for death metal and extreme metal in general to push the limits of speed to faster and faster limits. Then we have Defecation - Purity Delusion (should have been Napalms 3rd album, not the crap Harmony Corruption), Assück - Anticapital and Misery Index (two excellent releases that have the shine of Morrisound, without making it sound like shit, like Harmony Corruption), Terroizer - World Downfall (better than Harmony Corruption, but the band's fall from grace is laughable, the band is hollow now), Sore Throat - everything (jumps from politics to pisstake, d-beat to noisecore at a whim), Nasum - Inhale/Exhale (brutal release, but it does tread water), Rot - Cruel Face of Life (side one of Scum), Cripple Bastards - Your Lies in Check (Scum and Enslavement had a cripple bastard). Plus there's Fear of God, Agathocles, ArseDestroyer, and many more, but they escape me at the moment.
Just found your channel, boss. Is one of you lads involved in Life Expectancy? Great noisey d-beat demo on bandcamp from Liverpool…..heard about your love of Disclose & D Clone…hmmm Hopefully bump into you at next Guac n Roll gig
