I am a good judge of character and I agree. Even if Paul knew about the lure, it was not a lure to murder him (until proven otherwise). James pulled a gun (until proven otherwise. It's not "guilty until proven innocent") and Paul defended himself. They threw another innocent man in prison.

James showed up with a gun which Paul didn't know about until James pulled the gun. Paul killed him in the fight, and he was honest about the entire thing except the luring part. He didn't mean to murder anyone, just played out that way in self defense.

He didn't. In court she also got her friend to testify and try to say it was all Paul's plan also. The only way he got out of life with no parole was agreeing to a plea deal to say he knew about the plan but didn't mean to murder the guy, and was just defending himself.

They had a lot of circumstantial evidence against him, so if he didn’t take the plea deal and went to trial, and ended up being found guilty, he would face the maximum life sentence. But in taking a plea deal, you receive a lesser sentence but you have to admit to the crime, even if you’re innocent. This is why a lot of innocent people end up taking plea deals. It’s either take it to trial, risk being found guilty anyway and receiving the max sentence OR take a plea deal admitting to a crime you didn’t commit and you receive a much lighter sentence/avoid prison altogether.

People sometimes are ok with "abusive" spouses (if James was, I don't know) having custody/partial custody of their kids, if the abuse was only towards the spouse, and they were excellent fathers (or mothers) who loved their children. It happens. Some are abusive towards both, but sometimes the "abused" spouse is a POS themselves, and provokes the one who "abuses" them, there are always two sides to the story. Or they're just attracted towards people who truly do abuse them... but some of those people still love their children, or would even die for them. Every case is different!!

If you have kids and your ex spouse is sharing custody then you have a legal right to know where the partner lives. My ex wife tried with witholding her new address from me but as we share custody she was told she legally has to provide me with her current address where the children will be residing
