I used this stove and the one Tigris rock fortress one pole hot tent in December on a back country black bear hunt. It did amazing. Lows were in the teens with the wind gusting up to 25mp at night. Got so hot in the tent we had to open the vents and crack the doors. It was me and my bro n law. Also used the teton sports universal cots, pads and sleeping bags. Had an awesome time. Will be using that stove and tent again next season.
That stove looks awesome. The covers or "baffles" over the intake and flue are so simple but such a good idea for keeping the embers in the stove. If the state I live in wasn't more flammable than a gasoline soaked rag, I'd get one.
That thing looks like it doubles as a muskrat trap? I like it… once the prey is trapped inside, just plug in the contraption, set it, and forget it. Solid, Dave!
I have the tipi and another company's stove. Stove works but doesn't hold much wood. Tipi's single wall doesnt retain much warm air at all. Still much better than nothing!
This is similar to the old "Sheepherder" pack stoves I used as a kid. I'm 69 now. They had to be small and they light enough to put on a pack horse along with the pack box "kitchen" with all the related kitchen stuff. This looks better made and lighter with front inlet air damper baffle and the baffle for the stovepipe. This is very important here in the Inter mountain West where we have drought on occasion. Sparks going out the stovepipe could be counter productive in those conditions. I will be greatly interested in your review of the one pole tent. I prefer the one pole design when setting up during a rain or snow storm at night where you need shelter fast and simple.
Hey Dave, happy to see you still going strong. I first found out about you from Dual Survival and I always enjoyed your practical approach and your straight-forward attitude. I thought you and Cody balanced each other out nicely, it was funny seeing your military-style mission first mindset combined with Cody's treehugging hippie-dippy calmness, but you both brought valuable knowledge and experience. Even if the show was heavily scripted it was still very entertaining and I'm happy you're still doing well. Cute kitty too. A man who treats animals well is a good sign.
That looks really nice. I got a light stainless one thats a knock off of it, its so thin that the door and top already warped terribly. Almost unusable once its warm and i never even got it glowing red like i see some people use theirs. Big bummer, but now I'll use the parts to build my own
Dave, i remember you on Discovery's Dual Survival (Desafio em Dose Dupla, on brazilian TV) and on National Geographic's Dirty Rotten Survival (Desafios da Estrada, on brazilian TV) and today, you are on your YT channel. I like this cat, too.
Great stuff. Iv been happy with the couple things iv bought from One Tigris before. I may have to consider getting a hot tent and start winter camping.
It is a very well made looking stove. I think if more stack would have been installed it would have drawn much better. How hard is it to remove the bottom grate so you can clean it properly without having to carry it out and dump it like so many I see?
Perfect timing. I’ve been wanting to look into wood stoves and compatible tents. I was debating trying to modify a tent to use a stove, so I was wondering what besides the stove jack sets hot tents apart from regular tents or tarps? Is it a different material, a particular shape?
Lots of pipe which is awesome but one thing I noticed right off was that there’s no type of clean out.....because that’s super major for running consistently....quality looks great but why wouldn’t they make a clean out?
Hey , is that coat from Lester River bushcraft lol ( being sarcastic ) you've mentioned that 3 or 4 times in the comments .... Yr a legand here in the bushcraft world ...
i ordered a 30 in by 10 ft swimming pool from one tigris a couple years ago paid like 50 bucks for it . was supposed to come with a free gift. what we received instead was about half a dozen doctor style face masks . ill never order from them again.
