Hey Darren ! You introduced the Sniper..earlier on one of your videos , and I installed one on my cue , and have never looked back ! Thanks ! Better luck to you and Karl next year In the World Cup !
Tried the sniper tip because of your earlier videos on it took awhile to get used to it but love it now like you say I can really feel the cue ball thanks for all you do really enjoyed the WCOP
Thanks Darren. Also liked seeing how you shape the tip and where you strike on the ball. Was pulling for you and Karl, but regardless of the outcome, I'm sure it's memories you'll cherish. Looking forward to seeing you in more tournaments.
Great review Darren. This proves the misconception that soft tips deliver more spin - in my opinion it's the other way around. Soft tips just have much more "feel" to them while hard tips give the spin and speed to the cue ball.
That is definitely true, ive tried pretty much all the tips with over 15 cues and soft tips are no good for long distance draw, if the cue ball is in one end of the table and object ball the other end youd struggle to get a full table draw using soft but a good medium hard tip like the everest or emerald its pretty easy if you hit the balls good. Some brands tips just transfer spin very well while others just dont
I got the Emerald tip for the first time ever after playing with the Sniper and Onyx for a year because I was trying to save a few bucks but I have to say that the Emerald is much too firm for my liking and it feels slappy on contact with draws and follow shots, so I’ll be going back to the sniper or onyx because both tips have that Ultimate feel and Feedback response that’s like butter.
I've been playing with the Everest and Sniper for a while now ever since I got back to playing pool after a long lay off. I give the edge to the Sniper tip, but the Onyx has intrigued me. I want to give that one a go along with the Emerald. Either way, I haven't gone wrong with Tiger tips. Thanks for the video. Cheers!
I do tip replacement as a side hustle...don't use Tiger myself, but one teammate won't use anything but a Sniper tip on her cue. Others that have tried other brands like Mako, Kamui and Predator replace the Tigers 1st chance they get! So, it kinda goes both ways. I prefer a Mako Pro (medium) for my 11.8 Revo. I can draw lower than a Kamui soft n they hold their shape really well.
The onyx tip becomes very hard just after a month or two of play but it takes about three months for the sniper tip to get hard but you should be changing your tips out once every month or two if you play every day anyway.
Darren you and Karl have been best at Word Cup, but you had no luck in the final. And sometimes luck is only thing that separates two great teams. All the best to you in the next tournaments.
I love the sniper tip very good i would like to try an onyx but recently I've broke with my playing cue and the sniper is brilliant at this loads of control also power
😦 How can you draw like that, Darren?! I can't do it. The only conclusion I can come to, is that it is a miracle. Somehow, you have a miraculous power, which regular human beings do not. Are you an alien hybrid, from another galaxy?!! 😊
Dan, it is mostly a combination of 1) accelerating smoothly THROUGH the cueball with a well timed stroke and 2) havingt nawthern accent👊😎👌 Not necessarily in that order of precedence though😁😉😉😉
😅 go for the carpet friend. You want to draw, get on a real table, with good cloth, and drop the back of your cue as close to level as you can, then put the tip at the cloth and the very bottom of the ball. Bar boxes have trash felt on them, and "plywood" (simulated slate) under that, plus a heavy cue ball or a cue ball that's a bit bigger than the others. A proper table is slate, with a good cloth, and the cue is exactly the same as the other balls.
I also love the Sniper! You should do a review on the new Tiger Icebreaker + tip. I had Tony throw it on my break/jump cue, and that thing hits incredible!
I got a shaft came with a Smiper tip I couldn’t play with it at all, same with the Everest which came on an OB shaft it felt like a break tip to me miscued every other shot. Kamui black medium that’s all I play with they play great and I’m used to them.
I haven't used the onyx or sniper but the everest and emerald are very good tips, used the dynamite aswell which has very little feel compared to the others but tiger tips are quality
I absolutely love this tip. It needs to break in. Very mushy and way too soft at first. I think after it compresses some it's perfect. Now it's the absolute best tip I've ever used. My cue ball control is getting so much better. Ever since using it my game has improved dramatically. I'm very curious about the Onyx. It's the same material just harder. Are you still using the sniper over the Onyx?
i tried hard le pro, a different hard, went to a soft kamui and a medium everest. overall im into the everest tip. just have better "zip" and cue ball controll
Hello Mr. Darren, i just see your cue tip shape is different with the common shape.. what is the different between the shape like this 《 and like this ( ??
for cue to be handmade it is prestige but i dont think i wanna play with a handmade tip or shaft. The margin for error is huge. People are best at making mistake
Tks so much for the video. I wanna ask. What about tiger soft with cow skin.. how the different feel with the sniper or onix.. i am using this tip right now the tiger sof cow skin but the feel is more harder than kamui soft or Zan Soft or Victory soft. I have tried it before. But i never try on sniper or onix..
I have a tiger sniper on my Cuetec Cynergy and I really like it. I just recently bought a predator revo that came with a victory soft but I don’t like that tip. I am thinking of putting a tiger sniper on my new revo. Would you recommend this as I am used to this tip or should I go kamui super soft?
You and Boyes deserved to carry the trophy back in the World Cup of Pool, Germany literally gained 3 points from luck! 1 golden break and 2 fluked 9 balls are just atrocious
Darren how come you don’t play with a carbon fiber shaft. Or have tried them at all? If so out of the carbon fiber shaft which one is the best. In your own opinion.
Haven’t used Everest for a long long time so hard to comment ! But no doubt very good tip also to my memory ! Sniper is just perfect for me and I feel reacts better to how I spin the ball and hit the ball to anything else I’ve used ! That been said tony at tiger keeps urging me to try the new onyx so I will give it a try at some point this year
What kind of shaft are you using. Also why not playing with the revo. You use to play with the revo carbon fiber before, what changed your mind not playing with carbon fiber from predator
Tried it before but didn’t quite have the same feel and didn’t do very well with it ! All my success with 314-2 so why change is my mindset pal but you never say never 😂
Darren, can I ask how your trying glasses, and what difference its making. I found I was missing long cuts,so I tried glasses. Started potting them, then was missing short straight shots into middle bags. The glasses brought the balls closer, and a bit up. Couldnt handle it,so I just stopped playing.
🙂 Don't you feel guilty, Darren, being around your table, balls, and cue, without wearing a mask and gloves? And, without wearing a mask, you are risking spreading the virus to your viewers, you know that, right? Now I wonder if you sleep without a mask, too?!! 😊
