Thanks for good video, is this chassis compatible with Tikka T1X and T3X
@SEAKPhotog

Great stuff. I've got my T1x in an Oryx as well. Was out shooting today. Managed a .8 in, 10 shot group at 100 yards with SK Standard Plus. Best group of the day. Shooting from a bench with bipod and bag. Next time out I'll try some Eley as well (forgot it this morning 🤦🏻‍♂️). Now I've gotta go check out your ammo comparisons. So far at 50 yards I get great groups (.4 - .75) from any Eley, SK Standard Plus and Norma Tac-22. We don't have a consistent ammo supply in my neck of the woods and can't mail order stuff so I'm stuck shooting with whatever I can find which is a bit frustrating. But hell, it's all fun. Subbed.

I just picked my T1X up a week or so ago. The plastic stock lasted as long as it took me to get an Oryx chassis. I did the Anarchy Outdoors trigger and mag release like you did. I've got an Arken SH-4 4-16x scope coming so I can get out next week to get it zeroed in.

Is there a website where you can buy the tikka t1x complete upper without having to buy the entire rifle like an AR? I don’t seem to find it online
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 8 месяцев назад
Hi Margritski! It's hard to find just a barreled action for the T1x, so I would suggest you get on snipershide.com and search for one or just buy the cheapest version with a stock and replace the stock. The only challenge I had with the T1x was the ability to mount it in a chassis other than the MDT Oryx Chassis or KRG (Kinetic Research Group) Bravo chassis, but today there are other options out there such as the TIMBR Frontier Stock, LSS-XL Gen2 Chassis, or the La Chassis T1X Chassis System (which is the only one that comes with an ARCA rail)...Good luck in your search and thanks for watching my friend!
@margritski

I just ordered the La chassis T1x and I was looking for the complete upper so I can just add it on and that is where I’m having trouble finding what I need to compete the build. I didn’t want to have to buy a tikka t1x and then remove the chassis and slap the rest on my La chasis just seemed to be a waste of money but I guess I May have to do that as I cannot find parts you know. I wish they had options like the AR. I just don’t like the basic stocks on a rifle. If you find anything else please let me know. Thank you for the response. Nice build by the way.
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 8 месяцев назад
@@margritski It'll be better with the original chassis for resale, then sell the La Chassis separately. I always keep the "stock" equipment and when I resell, that's what I resell. Good luck with the build!

I wonder how much the comp made a difference changing the harmonics of the barrel? I’ve been kind of hesitant to put one on mine cause it shoots so well but after watching this I think I might give it a try

Hi Charles! Funny you should say that. I actually run an Omega 300 suppressor with the 7.62 plates installed on it now just to add some weight to the front for balance. Thing shoots great out to 300 yards which is the max distance we shoot at our matches. Getting a Vudoo next week and putting that in a Manners TCS stock, so we'll see how that one shoots!

does the raised edge of the buttstock rear get in the way of pushing a cleaning rod through the barrel? I understand the cheek riser can be removed but does the cleaning rod bend when it hits the read raised edge? although one can use a brass jab and a fiberglass rod I am still concerned about the rod not entering parallel to the barrel and possibly damaging the lands. any experience with cleaning the barrel so far? also what size cleaning rod do you use?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 3 года назад
Hi Plrodrig123! I use a single (no sections) normal diameter long cleaning rod and it does bend every so slightly, but not enough to concern me. I also have switched to non-brass brushes, specifically the Tipton Rifle Nylon Bore Brush in .22 cal. Now, in speaking with the .22 "gods", it will take about 300,000 rounds to shoot out the barrel of a .22 cal, so I'll let my grandsons worry about that! And, using a Nylon bore brush, I'm not worried about any lands damage. Hope this helps and thanks a lot for watching my friend!

Advice on the ring(seekins) height for 30mm scope. I have the dip 25moa scope rail.

Hi Roland! Thanks for the tip! I've finally figured it all out for this build and is working fine now. Stuck with the 30 moa rail and the zero stop on the Strike Eagle actually let's me reach out to 350 yards which is plenty. Getting a new Vudoo action in next week that has a 40 MOA rail on it so we'll see how that works out. Thanks for watching my friend!

Can I ask why you went the Oryx over the Bravo? Seems the Bravo is often the go to for most?
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 3 года назад
Hi Ryan! It really came down to the fact that I run an MDT chassis on my 6.5 Creedmoor competition rifle and know their products. Oryx is an MDT company and in my research I read good things about them. The Bravo chassis is another EXCELLENT choice. The main thing for me was the ability to EASILY mount an arca rail so I could reuse all the accessories I have on my "big" rifle on this one. The Bravo has an easily mounted arca rail, so again, a really good choice. I'm really loving this stock. Hey thanks for watching and your inquiry my friend! Shoot Straight!
@Sisu2280
@Sisu2280 3 года назад
@@The4GunGuy thanks for the detailed response! The MDT looks great, and seems to be a couple hundred cheaper here in Australia than the Bravo. I just need to find a place to buy it. I'm not looking at running an Arca rail - just a picatinny rail for an Accu-tac bipod. Thanks again, I'll keep an eye on your videos!
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 3 года назад
@@Sisu2280 I saw your other question about Gen 1 or Gen 2 but it doesn't show here. I'm not sure actually because on the ORYX website I ordered from there is only one version of the chassis. Sorry!
@Sisu2280
@Sisu2280 3 года назад
@@The4GunGuy haha yeah I deleted it because I worked it out for myself! Was watching Tampa flog the Packers. MDT do the chassis without the plastic rails, but you need to add the grip and the butt stock. It's a more exspensive option, closer to the Bravo in terms of price but it seems the chassis is 100% alloy.

Hi Tino! The scope is an Athlon Midas Tac I believe...Great budget scope. Pretty sure you could run the same setup for a 17 hmr, but double check the ORYX website to make sure. I really liked this rifle while I had it, but it was a bit hard to upgrade it with PRS competition options like a MPA, MDT, Manners, or other chassis/stocks where you can add a ton more weight. Did you find it to be beneficial and a must have or could you get by without it? I don't really like plastic so I'd probably opt for the aluminum but I'd like to hear you're thoughts? Hi Kimball! WOW, you took it much farther than I did. Thanks for all this work! One of these days I'm going to do this test again, but use multiple boxes of the same ammo and take say 20 rounds from each box, then run the strings to see how consistent each brand/type is. Thanks again for watching and the great feedback!
@kimballscarr
@kimballscarr 3 года назад
@@The4GunGuy Its interesting to see the things looked at from little different perspective. People always look at the best grouping ammo, which is the last paragraph showing the competition between ammo types the chassis performed better with two but not one of the rounds, the standard stock was better. But to figure out the real value or improvement of piece of hardware like the chassis over a std. stock you have to look at all the types of ammo and compare overall to the overall averages, this netted a 1.79x better or 179% better consistency in groups. That is really good improvement for a change of a stock. What is interesting though the smallest group producing ammo in the chassis the Match ammo it turned out overall to be 2.93 or 293% worse in consistency over the standard stock, and this is what dragged down the overall to 179% improvement, without that you'd be at 700% + consistency improvement. So I'd suggest don't use the Match in the thing even though it shot the smallest group, why it is so inconsistent we would need to look further. Either the Midas or Club are far more consistent and therefore better for match use. You may find some cheapo ammo that works better than any of these. If you also tracked other parameters, like taking velocity measurements, and pressure measurements you would get a better evaluation. Velocity is pretty easy and good indication for practical use. Pressure is nice but harder to come by and more difficult and run expensive and you need a signal converter also... Pressure measurement now-a-days as you can purchase bond on strain gauges, but these will not show the detail some others do. However, those have less response rate sensitivity over piezo-crystal sensors, and getting one where you average anticipated pressure peak in in the 50%-66% of the full range of the sensor, is best. So that means you would need to look at having a separate sensor for different pressure ranges of cartridges, don't expect good data with one for a high pressure centerfire developing 80,000 psi peak for a 22 rimfire, with in the 25,000 psi peak. Oh, you would find c.u.p. is more an average pressure, and will not show actual peak so it trends lower.
@The4GunGuy
@The4GunGuy 3 года назад
@@kimballscarr Thanks again for a detailed explanation my friend! I need to adjust the mount on my magneeto speed so I can pick up these smaller bullets, but plan to do that in the near future as well and will compare the ammo's again for consitency. This is the hardest part of 22 lr as you can't reload, so you're at the mercy of the manufacturers quality.
