Tiktok has taken us right back around to step zero on dropshipping scams. American adults had just moved past this and now they're trying to catch a vulnerable new generation before anyone can tell them otherwise.
I don't know if we ever moved forward from it, the rise of wish taught the normies of my generation (older Gen z/younger millennials) all about cheap Chinese stuff, and has totally ruined most online shopping. Amazon has been a total trainwreck for like 5-8 years now
some of the prices on there they want for the item they are trying to sell is crazy like a 4k gaming stick for $80 same one can be bought from aliexpress for like 15-18usd
This is the thing I had to learn with Reddit and RU-vid with individual channels, is that half a feed of content you stay on the app for worth the half that is garbage? Is it half a feed or a quarter? a third? Just something to keep in mind.
@@nkoonkukoousually when someone say this I'd tell them tik tok ain't even that bad. And it isn't honestly. But their algorithm is getting super annoying as of recent.
Hes combined Common sense, reviews, personal views, and how to improve for all websites and products. Something you SHOULD be able to get from ANY salesperson when you walk into their store (before the tides turned)
Every site/app with endless scrolling is bad. RU-vid is on the edge since my subscription page works, and I check in on channels directly from time to time.
If you turn off your watch history, you will never be recommended any videos on the homepage. You'll only get recommended on the video you're currently watching and your subscriptions.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one seeing how blatantly annoying the TT Shop ads are getting, this validated me so much. Also $110 for RENEWED? What is even happening in the Joy-Con market?
I bought a set from Aliexpress and they work fine but they're nowhere near the quality of the originals. I might try swapping out the thumbsticks for some better ones at some stage.
They even have localized versions. On German Tiktok they were coming up in masses and even promoting their products in the style of: "F you, you tagged sony and nintendo so much under our posts that they now want to sue us. Nothing is illegal, the games are legal" Which is pretty funny, as they obviously aren't allowed to sell these things with ROMs preloaded...
I remember seeing one try that tactic with crappy AirPods cleaners, it kept teasing to not tag Apple or else they would be legally forced to sell off the patent so they could charge their own “premium” price on them since that’s the stereotype with Apple (remember that $999 Pro Stand?). They REALLY were trying to promote it as some super advanced thing when it was just brushes and bristles lmao
I've seen a few ads for low end handhelds that claim they can play games that they clearly can't by showing sped up footage. You can obviously tell because the game is shown running at regular speed but the thumbs are moving like the flash lol
as someone who uses tiktok and also supports emulation and retro gaming, seeing these scams are super annoying... thanks for calling these people out! even if its not going to reach them immediately, its still a great thing to talk about.
I think about this daily. I brought it up in the sbc subreddit and people were arguing that this wasn’t scamming and its essentially the consumers fault for overpaying and not doing the research.
What's funny is that ad on twitter you talked about probably lost it's ability to make revenue. Corrected tweets can't make money if I remember correctly.
Ali Express is what i would consider the most 'real' of these chineese sites, i get alot of the same products for cheaper and alot of products not sold anywhere else or as convenient.
The saddest part is.. there are plenty of great indie creators trying to sell on TikTok, and they're getting drowned out by the scammers and drop-shippers. =( And unless TT bans dropshipping, it will only get worse.
I would expect them to say that yes, it is worth it. The meta I've seen on TikTok and Instagram is just absolutely shameless, from promoting garbage and clickbaiting all the way to actual scams and harmful content
We might have a real problem if these handheld emulator companies advertise on TikTok and say point-blank that these devices come preloaded with games they don't have the legal authority to sell along with the product.
Your video showed up in my search results as I was looking for third party reviews or some sort of verification that these products are not scams before I order one. Thanks for the informative video. I will buy direct from the manufacturer's store front.
I've been banned by so many tiktok accounts for calling all these scammers out. Fun going on their lives, commenting, and having them stupidly read them out loud lol
Man so many RU-vidrs I follow just keep reminding me why I deleted my TikTok a few years ago, do people just not question or second guess things they see anymore? And just go for it because “TikTok told me…” ???? God I’m sick of hearing about that godforsaken app… Anyway rant over lmao
I can't imagine buying something I see in a TikTok ad (or any ad for that matter), last time I did was probably choosing private Internet access as my VPN
I wanted to give you props for calling out people that just praise products without mentioning flaws to push a shop. Then I remembered you do the same thing with sponsored videos like the Legion Go one.
I appreciate the info about the knockoff joycons! I actually use a joycon as a hotkey device when working in other programs on my pc. So getting a $26 thing that's never gonna really get real gaming wear and tear is perfect!
I also kinda wonder about whether or not Nintendo is going to go after TikTok or creators for promoting and SELLING what is essentially illegal material.
I’m not on the app enough to see shop stuff. But yeah major tip to avoid problems is to just do research before you buy things from there or any online shop really. Stay safe on the interwebs folks.
I'm one of those deathly allergic to Tiktok, honestly just scared of the app at this point; I've seen what it does to people and want none of that. Then, of course I fell into youtube shorts 😅 Anyway, happy as always to see we can trust the Wulff Den bros to value integrity and their relationship with their audience :)
I made a new account on tiktok and started calling out these live shops that tell lies to people to sell handhelds. If you go into one playing ps2 on a handheld that runs ps2 like sht. Tell them to turn off frame skip and boom you get banned and kicked.
I've spent the last month doing this. I also comment on the shops answering questions honestly and steering people in the right direction. Been kicked out of around 40 lives in January.
Ordered from TikTok first time just recently, asked when they usually ship bc I’d been waiting about two weeks and when they said they do next day and I told them i was waiting on mine, they make a video about me calling me a liar and blocked me. Package came about four days later lol
Remarkable insights on how the TikTok algorithm is treating these video reviews. TikTok Shop will be tremendous though for serious ecommerce players who really want to tap into the new social way of shopping. I imagine it'll be a massive player in the space over the next decade!
Bob I'm so happy you here doing this work. Great advise, perfect summary. I think the vast majority of people would be easily scammed by these ads. Keep up the great work!
As a creator on TikTok, if I get a product sample that sucks or is clearly dropshipped, I’m real about it. Somehow those are my most well paying ads as far as people buying the products for some reason
I am so tired of just seeing anything tiktok related. They spam me constantly with dumb as, the videos in my RU-vid feed is filled with tiktok content, and tons of products tagged with tiktok or temu...
I guess TikTok saw all of the dropshippers trying to engagement bait their audience and thought to make a Wish clone exclusively for them to list products on. Quite scummy if you ask me
Wild stuff! I use tik tok but I’ve never seen these sorts of shady things surrounding video games on the platform, I have seen it occurring on other platforms though.
I do the same thing, just keep on swiping which is a shame because I'd like to have a tiktok shop at some point to get people to buy hobby supplies but they'd just ignore me too.
God I hate that I’m a gamer on TikTok. So many ads and I want scream at people to NOT buy the junk they see.. preying on people just trying to play some SMB3.
I kept hearing about TikTok shop but was never seeing it or the nigh endless ads or pushed videos for it. It turns out my country was somehow set to Canada and after switching to US, most of my feed is sponsored posts, commission posts, TikTok shop ads, or older videos that I've already seen and/or liked. I'm considering switching it back to Canada 😅
@@Nickie102 I think the difference is it's easier to avoid this garbage on RU-vid. TikTok forces it down everyone's throat with TikTok Shop ads every few videos.
@@nebby3 Scrolling past them seemed pretty easy. Considering they are marked its noticable to just not watch one that pops up and flag them. Sucks that they exist at all but not the worst experince.
I learned a long time ago to never buy a product seen in any social media platform video. Got ripped off on a Christmas gift for my brother, so I never buy from a video from now on.
I personally love the comments on these videos that say "thanks for the recommendation, I bought it but not through your link so you don't get comission"
I remember seeing this tiktok shop vid where the author in the comments straight up lied about what the console is capable of, promising curious commentators that 80$ PS1 handheld will run PS2 and Game Cube games at full speed... I'm all for prompting this hobby, but lying to people and ruining their first experience just to get a few cents is disgusting.
I know it used to be super popular just to hack old NES games to fill them with any kind of shocking/offensive shit one could think of. How these romhacks end up on bootleg consoles, though, is a complete mystery.
THANK YOU for making this video bc ive been eyeing that ambernic handhald but I always trust you Bob so thank you again for bringing awareness to this issue and MLM product scams that is the tiktok shop 💪💯🔥one of my favorite most respected youtuber
