The Glow Recipe Strawberry serum, smells exactly like my aunt who passed away from Leukemia in 2011. So now I always atleast have a bottle to smell, even if it's empty, I just like smelling it because it reminds me of her so much. It's crazy how scents can do that
i have a product that for some reason gives me a feeling of nostalgia whenever i smell it, but i can't put my finger on what moment exactly it reminds me of. it's so weird how my brain somehow remembers that smell yet i've completely forgotten the moment itself!
I wonder if the perfume brand do the memory trick by using scents that have gone out of fashion. By using scents that were really popular 20-30 years ago but have gone out of fashion, they might be able to trigger memories from when us millennials were children. Haley remembered her aunt hugging her, she probably remembers her aunt's perfume.
omg that would make so much sense! I was thinking “ what if they put the smell of the 90s in a bottle, but how would they do that?! “ and I feel like you just gave the answer lol
I bought this perfume and it totally smells like cheap drugstore perfume from the late 90's to me. I do not like it at all, so this theory makes sense.
As a fragrance enthusiast, Missing Person is OK. I’ve smelled better musky scents that last and perform better. MP has the average “skin” note which is what most people are probably reacting to, but just like the name - this perfume goes MISSING after 30 mins! If y’all like these kinds of fragrances, check out: Skin by Clean Reserve: very similar to MP, literally smells like fresh out of the shower clean skin without smelling soapy, better performance and lasting power Musk 12 by Kayali: MP’s more interesting, successful cousin. Slightly sweeter, touch floral and powdery, really smells like a warm, comforting hug. Instead of getting compliments on your perfume, folx will compliment YOU bc this makes you smell put together and classy. Also better performance and lasting power than MP
@@goodgriefff happy to help! I hope you find something that works with your skin chemistry 💕 another tip would be to layer your perfume with your favorite lotions to create a whole experience ☺️
I wish I could hire you as my personal fragrance liaison. If you started a fragrance blog or social media, I would subscribe in a heartbeat. The way you write, describe, and compare each fragrance is brilliant. I appreciate you taking the time to write it for us. 💖☺️
the neutrogena hydro boost moisturizer was great for me in the beginning. last winter, the corners of my lips were so dry, they were red and itchy. it was also hard for me to open up my mouth bc it would cause more irritation. the hydro boost moisturizer helped me so much. but later on it started making me oilier and wasn’t locking in hydration like it used to.
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost moisturizer was a life-saver when I had major rosacea flare-ups. My nose could be a broken-skinned flaky, bloody leaky mess and I would just glob that stuff onto it - basically slugging. It made it feel so soothed and really helped with the dryness. I've got my medication now but I always keep a container of it around for bad skin days. I get dry patches on my scalp sometimes too and I'll just work some of it into the scalp at the roots, instant relief.
*Face Gym: 'Let me try this on the other side. Repeats process on same side LOL I love your reaction to the fragrance!! As a fragrance junkie, I'm definitely getting a bottle immediately! Love ya James❣Would love to see your fragrance collection!!!!
The neutrogena hydroboost set has been a life saver for me, it can be so hard for me to find products like them in the drug store so having a big brand doing it makes it super easy to just grab and go, and it's very price friendly 😅
I had the same reaction to Jo Malone’s Blackberry and Bay perfume. I tried it in the shop, and when I smelt it, I instantly thought of my dad - so much so that I turned around, because I thought he was standing behind me. My dad died in 2011. Can’t to this day know why I had this reaction.
I always turn him on when I’m putting on makeup. He speaks so clearly and he’s very descriptive...so I don’t get distracted by having to look over very often. I’ve tried watching other people while I put on makeup but he is by far my fav
Just found this channel and I can't believe how easy it is to listen to you talking. I usually get extremely overwhelmed watching youtube videos of people talking for long periods of time, but this is such a different experience. Love the content as well :))
Same for his twin brother Robert! They also have a joint channel "The Welsh Twins" and their older brother Marcus edits the videos? It's hilarious!! Marcus gets in the best jabs at them! Plus they giggle a lot which is super fun to listen to and watch. Check them out! Robert does makeup and ghost stories too, if makeup isn't your thing.
My problem with the Neutrogena moisturizer is that it feels nice going and it seems like it should work really well, but then I'm always dry again a short time later
Everyone wants the dewy glazed donut look and here’s me with my oily skin just wanting to be as matte as possible 😂 although to be fair there’s a difference between healthy glow and greasy mess 😅 and I always end up being the greasy mess 😫
@@breadbutter4231 i’ve found this sunscreen from the brand missha called soft finish and it keeps my skin matte. i don’t have super oily skin so it was a little much for me but yez
Yes!!! Please make a video on your favorite sunscreen compacts! I live in Florida and I’m constantly trying to find a sunscreen I can feel comfortable in with my oily skin
As an InnBeauty user- I love face glaze . It’s beautiful. But I like moisture . It’s thicker than Saie Dewy Gel and A more skincare based formula than Elf and CT . So it’s incredibly useful - I love it and been using all kinds of ways for about a year.
James! Would you be able to make a video about your filler and cosmetic procedures? 😊Your filler looks really natural which I feel isn’t usually the case with other people! any tips you might have about the whole process too would be great to hear
I don’t think body wash frags last either. It’s great during the bath, most rinses off & hangs out for a bit. Maybe if my nose is pressed into my skin. But once my clothes are on, it’s pretty much gone.👍❤️
The only bodywashes I've ever used that left a lasting fragrance were LUSH bodywashes, and that was a. only if I used a fair amount and b. not surprising given you can smell a LUSH store for a kilometer away, hahahah.
There used to be the concept of "fragrance layering". I think it died at some point in the 1990s though. Brands would have multiple scented products. I was a YSL Paris girl back in the day and I had soap, perfume and body powder. I turn back into a teen every time I smell it!
really? I use Bath and Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom body wash and I smell great for up to 12 hrs. And I do not use too much of it as a single bottle lasts me upwards of two months.
@@HikaruRain yea it doesn’t for me!😓 Just for a bit, but def not all day. Thank goodness I lack BO glands. Maybe sunscreen over powers it? Idk. I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week & shampoo fragrance lasts the entire time.🤯👍❤️
I'm curious how much of the nostalgic experience of the fragrance is due to the actual fragrance and how much is from the power of suggestion. Regardless, it sounds Iike it would smell nice. 😆
I thought the same thing but I feel not everyone can be influenced that way. I for one would immediately not have that reaction to it because I wouldn't want to be influenced😂 I also feel like James is pretty skeptical so his reaction surprised me an made me think it was legit.
I’m not an expert, but I worked in food museum for a few years.memory is greatly linked to taste/smell. Not sure if this is a fact, but apparently part of ur taste/smell is form memory. That’s also triggered by things like sight, which further complicates it. Also sounds like it’s a mix of rly popular scents, that could also be a factor.
@@lovesplus3879 that's a good point, it may use a mix of enough really common scents that almost everyone will have a memory associated with one of them
@@denaemichele I think that’s it. A lot of classic scents in it combined so it reminds everyone of someone. Genius! I want it now lol … also they use skin musk not human musk.
I'm an LMT (in America) and the face "yoga" and massage is definitely a thing. Not only does it relieve jaw tension and headaches but it can really help with lymphatic drainage. I even do intraoral massage where I put on gloves and massage the jaw muscles from both sides. Everyone thinks it's so weird until they try it and it relieves so much pain and tension. Also you're not the only one who doesn't like back massages. I myself jump off the table when a therapist touches my low back, I'm so ticklish 😂
“Now what?” 🤣 that’s me every time I get in a bathtub to have that “amazing and relaxing soaking time” but to me… it just means soaking in my own filth haha
This summer I’ve discovered Clarins spf 30 compact, it’s tinted and I haven’t used my regular foundation even one single time:) First was applying TYF spf 50 and topping it with Clarins. Love. Silicone cushion is discussing though, changed it to a regular cushion for liquid formulas. Used it the whole spring and summer till finally trying Colorescience Flex + spf in loose powder😄
I've been using the Neutrogena Hydroboost gel cream and the Hydroboost sunscreen, and for my skin and my climate, they are really doing the job. I've also found that good moisturizer helps plump up pores and minimize them.
omg yes. I've been using both the day and night moisturisers and I have really oily skin. Even though they're made for dry skin they make my skin feel like a glazed doughnut without making it feel heavy. I love them sooooo much
The neutrogena hydroboost sleeping cream has a jelly like consistency that's quite nice. I used it during the summer and now going into the winter I've been using it and then putting a heavier moisturiser over top for extra hydration in the cooler months 😊
Would love to see a video on sunscreen compacts. Also, please show us how you do your nails. I'm with you about body wash being a sensorial experience while in the shower.
I use the Neutrogena moisturiser on oily skin and it is the best one I have found! I don't get as oily throughout the day, and it is very often on offer in Boots or Superdrug. I personally really like the smell of it is as it is so neutral and not overpowering at all.
So you’re telling me that your hair looks this amazing product free and supposedly greasy? You have been definitely blessed by the gods 😂 good for you 👍😎
The facegym ball is incredible! The key is not getting tense in the neck while using it. Go get a facegym facial-they have one in London….Omg. Best facial EVER.
The Neutrogena Hydro Boost range RUINED my skin. My face started burning and feeling so sensitive to touch. It was great initially but long term it just didn't work out for me. Shame because it did look nice and it has a lovely texture.
Oh my ... I use the water gel moisturizer sometimes.. I've heard so many people have bad reactions after a while I think I'll stick with my snail 92 cream .. here's wishing your skin is healed quickly 😊
My Dad had the same reaction! It's a bit heavy for me but it's definitely something I can tolerate. I was really surprised that my Dad had such a bad reaction. I use Ren's cream for when I've overdone it. Also plain cortisone cream will help with redness and itching. I went to a dermatologist at one point and that was the active ingredient in one of her products. If you can handle the cream it usually comes in, try it! You probably have it in your first aid kit anyway, might as well give it a shot! Hope you're doing better now! ❤️
If you want a "glazed donut" look...Versed Skin Soak will do it and Vanicream moisturizer. Also the Fleur perfume smells just like any another fragrance to me...idk what to say sorry guys lol Thanks for the video James 💚💜
I'm so curious about that scent now! I'm not a fragrance wearer, it usually gives me a headache, but you got me super curious. Something that would evoke emotions like that seems so intriguing.
Hi James. Have you ever tired anything from La Roche Posay? My dermatologist recommended it to me but I’ve also seen it sold in Target and Amazon. Wanted to know your thoughts about it
Ok well you absolutely just SOLD that fragrance. I've been kinda sorta interested in the Missing Person by Phlur....but YOU just sold it for me right there. lol
I think on my pail face that cushion would be perfect. I got a go to winter birch cream which saved my red and irritated nose few times already. It works better than anything you can get in pharmacy. I always bring back a pack when I'm in Poland, it's our natural brand Sylveco. I also like their scrub lip balms.
I always love learning about skincare and products, I'm not very good at putting on facial makeup to cover blemishes, so I decided to splurge on effective skincare products instead of expensive makeup.
I love the Neutrogena hydro boost gel cream! The water gel was horrible for my skin strangely enough but the gel cream is perfect. They have similar packaging so I've been fooled.
Facial massage has a lot of benefits for chronic pain and tension. With headaches, sinus pain and tmj/orthodontic pain. I have chronic migraines, and I use my skincare time for 10 minutes of face and scalp massage. It hasn't got rid of any of my issues, but it has given me a lot of pain relief, distraction, and it's had a positive mental health impact.
Not sure which Neutrogena Hydroboost moisturizer you ended up with- but my preference is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream with Hyaluronic Acid for Extra-Dry Skin- I find the experience to be way more luxe and satisfying for my skin (which is less oily) !
Here in the US nuetrogena hydro boost water gel moisturizer is like $30.. the mini is like $8... I forgot how great this stuff is for my oily skin... It makes my skin so soft and just looks so nice... The hydro boost cleanser is the absolute best on retinol nights (cosrx low pH is my reg) I've tried many cleansers but none are like hydro boost for my skin
I believe she's using the extra dry Hydro boost gel cream moisturizer, it's pretty common/popular in dry skin moisturizer lists but might be a US exclusive cause I can't find it in Australia or on the AU/UK websites, seems the range is much larger in the US. apparently they also have a US Hydro boost + range I'm curious about.
I’ve been using the neutrogena serum twice daily onto wet skin and immediately applying my dermeze moisturising cream, it’s been the missing piece of my skincare reoutine, without it my skin dries out within minutes of applying my moisturiser and I would wake up with horribly dry skin, now it feels moisturised all day and all night
I was a little disappointed in the roundlab sun cushion as well. Their sunscreen is my absolute favourite but I was very underwhelmed by the cushion. Would love to hear which chemical sun cushions you recommend!
Ahh I’m so bummed you didn’t like the Neutrogena serum, because it’s my favorite moisturizing serum I’m using at the moment. You definitely have the wrong one though. The one with the blue label has more, better ingredients in it. The ingredients that sets the blue label serum apart from the rest is Xylitylglucoside/Xylitol/Anhydroxylitol. This is an amazing moisturizer, that regulates oil production, and helps the skin retain moisture. It’s soooo good. When I’m shopping for moisturizers I always make sure it has these ingredients in everything I buy. These ingredients are also in the Plum Plump cream from Glow Recipe. This is why I also buy, and love that cream so much. These ingredients are what makes the Plum Plump soooo good, so plumping, and so moisturizing. I’m so bummed you got the wrong serum dammit 😢
Ok...fragrances are tricky for me. But I'm taking your word and just used your link and bought a travel size ($26) missing person. Fingers crossed 🤞 it sound incredibly intriguing.
Phlurs Missing Person is sooo good.. I can barely smell it on myself so sometimes I’d go overboard spraying it and from my family’s comments lol… “you smell SO strong, too much perfume” though I can’t smell it on myself. So now I’m sparing with it and trust that others can smell it on me 😂😂 I don’t think this scent really smells like anything nostalgic but it’s a great unique scent (I will say- to spray it on your clothes instead of your skin, I had an allergic reaction to it but still got the full size after finishing the travel size LOL)
James, that sunscreen actually looks good on you. I'm a zinc oxide sunscreen fan but some white casts are too dramatic (cue in Axis-Y and Frudia) even for my pale skin. This is actually a rather good finish and looks good on you.
Please do a video on spf compacts. I bought the IWLT one on yes style, thinking it would be a good idea and the packaging was cute. But It made my skin look purple and smelt like roses
I went through a period of always repurchasing the Neutrogena Hydro Boost moisturiser but it really doesn’t doing anything! Feels more like a serum and leaves skin feeling dry after about an hour, they should maybe market it to oily skin not dry!?
I have to get that Missing Person for my friend. She lost her Dad a few years ago. And she loves the more woodsy smells like patchouli. I think she would really like this!
That neutrogena hydro boost gel moisturiser gave me THE worst skin, what I would equate to fungal acne, especially on my forehead. I stopped using only that moisturiser and my skin completely cleared up. It’s the only product to ever have done that, so those who get fungal acne type pimples - be careful with it 😬
@@JL_Lux Not usually, no. I might get a couple pimples around my chin/mouth/cheek area at certain times of my monthly hormonal cycle, or because I’ve been touching those areas more often (usually when I’m doing lots of studying and leaning my face on my hands), but I basically never get pimples on my forehead like I was getting when I used the hydroboost moisturiser. I hadn’t changed anything in my routine except for that moisturiser, and then when I took only that away and went back to the Cerave moisturising cream, the bumps and pimples on my forehead completely cleared, and I don’t get nearly as many on my chin/mouth/cheek area either. I also only use either La Roche Posay Effaclar micro-peeling cleanser or Cerave hydrating cleanser.
@@banana-ng2gz then that’s all i need to know. Cuz i don’t but if it sparks it for some i usually stay away. Plus i prefer serums over a moisturizer that has it all.
The face ball did nothing for the way my face looks, but, boy, did it relieve my sinus pressure! My 13 year old twins use it for migraines and jaw pain.
i used the neutrogena gel cream the one with trehalose in the name. really liked it. my bf likes it too. i went now on incidecoder because i was curious what the ingredients are and i realised there are so many similar ones, had to go back to the bottle and check the actual name. i suppose all do the same stuff, they have similar ingredients. the mattiness u see might be from the ton of dimethicone in it which i liked, i felt like i had satin on my skin
Ooh your nails! amazing I love them. God I've been waiting for Phlur to launch here and finally it's in Selfridges hurrah. Cult Beauty missed a trick here this was so hyped. Want to try that veil thing too, v nice!
