I did a quick estimate and got the price of a full set of veneers (excluding wisdom teeth) averaging out of nearly The price I got isn’t accurate but it’s still enough to show that the whole thing is a pretty lucrative business.

Literally i dont have the whitest teeth ever, i drink a lot of tea, and coffee occasionally so they’re quite stained but im not particularly worried about the color of my teeth just the health and if im being hygienic.

Same here, mine are sensitive because i grind them in my sleep... The dentin in the teeth, which is yellow by nature, shows trough the enamel. I would never do a whitening, or something to scrape down more of my teeth

Fact: teeth are actually light yellow in color, the only way you can make it white is by doing procedures like “bleaching” your teeth, or applying a layer of teeth protection that actually makes teeth whiter (but not as white as veneers or crowns).

Girl I feel your pain. I had a dentist say I need 8 fillings when I was in kindergarten . When I was in 2nd grade a dentist said there was absolutely nothing wrong with my teeth and she filled in my natural tooth indents which where a litter deeper then some but not an issue cuz I was a kid... Long story short the dentist messed my teeth up and I had to have 4 extractions and 4 crowns. Thank God they were baby teeth.

It means they HAVE to provide their patient with all the necessary information for that person to truly understand what they are getting into, pros and cons, risks etc. This is why every time you undergo a surgery, however minor, they warn you that there is a risk of you reacting badly to the anaesthesia etc. It's a tiny risk that anything is going to happen beyond some nausea or wooziness, but they have to tell you because otherwise, you cannot give informed consent - and that would make the doctors involved guilty of assault for performing an action upon your body without full, informed consent. So yes - the dentist or orthodontist is absolutely responsible for doing so, if they are ethical, at least. Any paperwork provides indemnity, but that still doesn't overrule law - and this is why they go to places overseas - cheaper doesn't always mean worse, but other countries may have very different rules... because it's downright unethical to perform that kind of procedure on a person who is still a teenager with the full knowledge that it's going to destroy their perfectly healthy teeth.

I can can feel your pain , i was born with perfectly good teeth that i ruined because i was depressed and not looking after them for aleast 3 yeas, now im at the point where i cant even breath while jogging if the air is cold since it hurts so bad. I know exactly how you feel. I can’t drink anything too hot or cold. Last summer I couldn’t even enjoy a cold drink. My teeth are damaged due to an ed that I had for 5 years ( anorexia ). I even lost some of my teeth and I can’t eat hard foods anymore :(( I’m so embarrassed that I cover my mouth when I smile / laugh because people assume it’s from a lack of hygiene. It’s hard to live like this. I used to have perfect white teeth so I’m saving money to get my smile back. Not for crowns or veneers, but for implants. if it really is something that bothers you, you may want to try to find a shade of lipstick that creates more contrast between your lips and your teeth and cancels out the (natural) yellow pigments of your teeth (: but truth is, natural teeth are beautiful and they are not supposed to be white! They are always going to be a bit yellowish because whereas the enamel is white, it's also transluscent so that we can see a bit of our dentin, which is yellow, through it. The "whiteness" of someone's teeth depends on the thickness and transluscency of their enamel as well as the pigmentation of their dentin. Anyway, we can always use a bit of color theory to our favor!

I'm a smoker, coffee drinker and wine drinker but my teeth are pretty white. I have a hack that I have been doing since 15. So brush and floss and mouthwash gargle (whatever is your daily routine). But at the end I have these small face towels or hand towels. I use this to "polish" my teeth after. Its worked for me for decades. And my dentist is shocked that my teeth are still in such good condition.

I was “bullied” or teased about my teeth in school. For a gap. Then after school, literally no one cared. (Except small children will ask). People in school will find ANYTHING different about someone and zero in on it. Honestly, life is about SO MUCH MORE. Adults all have their own problems to be worried about other people’s teeth.

@@asuari7305 not at all! Overcrowded teeth overlap in a way which makes cleaning/flossing difficult. Therefore from a caries-preventive point of view alone braces are recommended. Additionally crowded teeth can cause a malocclusion of the opposing teeth, which means your teeth on the upper and lower arch don‘t touch each other in a correct way. This can result in pain, abrasion of the teeth and sometimes even in grinding, temporomandibular joint problems and even in headaches. That‘s why dentists try to find malocclusions as soon as possible in kids and teens to fix the issue early on before it causes a domino-effect of problems ☺️ finally some malocclusions can cause speech problems and can take a toll on your mental health - sometimes even if you do not feel good with the way your smile looks. Therefore it‘s great you‘re getting braces! It‘s way less invasive and has way less possible side effects than what was shown in this video ☺️

@@super9296 it depends on the teeth in question. I´m unsure what is protruding and what is straight in your case. If the only issue is a slight protrusion of your jaw or of your upper teeth, an extraction is contraindicated in my opinion. There are times when a healthy tooth is getting extracted though. Most commonly it´s the premolars (if you have crowding in your dental arches and there is not enough space to re-align the teeth correctly), or wisdom teeth (because they are more prone to caries and often start dissolving the permanent molars if they tilt too much in the direction of the neighboring tooth). I suggest you ask your dentist for the reason of extraction to make sure there is no misunderstanding. There should be a good reason (I´m assuming in your case there is malocclusion and they need more space to move your teeth around so your upper and lower teeth are in proper contact again). If you still feel like it´s unnecessary, get another opinion from a different dentist. Let them check out your teeth and hear what they suggest.

Exactly Minka! I was 21 years old when I was pregnant with my son. I told my Doctor, before I even gave birth, that I absolutely did not want anymore children! They refused to perform a tubal ligation because I was ‘too young.’ I can’t believe there’s no requirement for Dentists to protect healthy teeth & refuse performing these procedures on minors.

You might, coffee is horrible for your teeth, not just cosmetically, but actual health wise. It's acidic and breaks your layers down. You might actually have to get a root canal bc you drink coffee so much because of cavities

Except thickness is a huge, lasting beauty standard for women. Last I remember it was being rail thin with bleach blonde hair and leathery skin in the early 2000s. I never adhered to that, nor was it close to who I am. But I've always liked the look of being curvy. I just wish I could be that.

I didn't wear my retainer lol.. Now time for 2nd round of braces, this time I'll choose get Invisalign as the retainer, I can sleep with it.

Trying to force my teeth back into shape with the retainer now not doing so hot and now have an overbite I never had B). For real just wear the retainer it's better than having to get braces again down the line.

Hoping to get my braces off next year, two weeks ago I had a large surgery that will help completely reshape the interior of my jaw and how I chew food.

I'm still trying to get my teeth fixed but it's too pricey. I looked into smile direct but it's still a few thousand dollars more than going to the dentist. It's far from my income.

Tooth whitening is not unique to American culture, exported from there, or anything new. People around the world have been whitening their teeth for millenia, e.g. ground pumice in ancient Egypt ~4000 years ago. 🙄
