Yes, it is a museum. A huge museum + an art gallery and all that stuff. Of course you can visit it, Hermitage in Saint Petersburg is a must-see for tourists :) About Eastern Germany... Well, it was much worse there in comparison to Western Germany, but still better than in other Communist Republics, because the Soviets invested in its economy much after the WW2. The worst thing came with the Berlin Wall since it separated the city in two halves and caused so many tragic events. Nonetheless, I think that people like Till, whose childhood was spent in Eastern Germany in 70's and adulthood in 80's, might have some particular feeling of nostalgia for those times. It's not that it was actually super great then, no, I think it's just the way people tend to see things when they get older. Maybe Till was hit by such nostalgic thoughts, or perhaps he is just so loved in Russia that he wanted to become more engaged in a sense. I don't know for sure about that, but what I do know is that Till is definitely having a great time :)
Thank you once again for the explanation. What you're saying makes sense. I'm glad for Till, he deserves to have the best time. I would like to visit the Hermitage one day. It looks massive! I had no idea...
It might be, but I also know how "worm and nice" Russians are, as friends and family. I had once a Russian school friend (we where already adults, because we did it next to hour jobs) and Liubov was always welcoming me like a "lost sister" and I have the feeling, if I would visit her the next time, I am back for holidays in the country I was born (Austria), she would welcome me, like I never would have gone. I also once met her mother and it was also completely different to the "strange visits" of other Austrians. You can be glad when you get some coffee with cookies there and please to not drop anything, because everything is so nice and clean, like in a museum! I do hardly feel comfortable, when I visit "German speakers" I guess only the British Queen gives a more stiff audience. I do not know, why I am so different from them, I always say it, it is, because I am an artist, but it might be also my 1/4 Georgien blood, which runs through me, because of one of my Grandfathers, who once came from the former USSR to Austria. I hope one day I know more about it and I can do films on both of my Grandfathers. The other one, because he is from Georgia and I would like do know how he came to Austria and the other one, because he was fighting back a Regime he did not like. Even the SS visited my Grandparents house, but thanks god, my grandfather was hidden very well!
@@andreagruber5813 du hast eine interessante Familiengeschichte! :) Yes, I agree with you, Russian mentality is definitely something different. I lived in Russia and I have got Russian roots, I can even speak the language, but I still get amazed sometimes by their exceptional friendliness :)
@@Dunkelheit_Schwarz Thanks, in many ways. Oh, My family is something else. 😉 Oh that is good, I will try to learn it, it is not the easiest, but I will get there, unfortunately Georgien is more difficult so, I leave it with "Russian" right now. Yes, and that is why I love them myself and we all know, no matter where on the planet, the people themselves have nothing to do with their government. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
The State Hermitage Museum (Госуда́рственный Эрмита́ж) is a museum of art and culture in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The largest art museum in the world.
Till put out an NFT that included pictures of him in this museum. He didn't have permission to distribute the images though, very strict rules for images in museums. Also the most expensive NFT cost €10k, which also included a fancy dinner with Till!
