I really want to give credit to the interviewer. As far as this press circuit goes you were the least intrusive. You let 'em have fun and walk all over you and that's kind of how they work best. A+ Great Job!
The way I see their relationship is that Eric is good at playing their version of a "straight man". Not saying he's 'the normal one', but he seems to usually use an irritated and disappointed persona, which is slightly more accessible than Tim's, which is just enigmatic, angry and hard to read.
10:45 Tim seems to kind of transform the fact that he nearly broke character and laughed into an in-character interest in the phonecall. These guys are always pegged as just being "those weird guys" but they can get pretty legit.
This is the probably the best host I've ever seen for a Tim & Eric interview. He really handled them well and his attitude actually went awell well with their vibes/aura. For a pentasecond, I thought he was part of their posse.
I was just about to say something like that but you beat me to it. The temptation to join in the fun muast have been strong. Interview host guy did very well.
I've seen probably every piece of Tim and Eric media interviews and stuff improvising. I think Tim is more naturally funny in person. He's better at creating a weird character and improvising, and gets into the funny zone subtly without trying as hard. His face is really funny. Sometimes Eric is just more weird than funny, but he definitely still nails it and is clever a lot.
have you seen any of their other interviews? this is pretty typical. you should check out an interview they did with the onion's av club in 2007. they are speak pretty candidly
i watched this video a couple of times and really laugh everytime i see it. i think my favourite part is when eric gets on the phone and pretends to be Thowmaus the lawyer. just pure silly times! so awesome!
