This is absolute craziness. Hearing Janet's role in Tim Ballard's shenanigans, immediately brought Ghislaine Maxwell to my mind. I feel like her and Tim infected each other with madness, and they fed into each other's delusions. Janet certainly was making enough money to justify carrying on with this con. It is really alarming, that as many LDS people that were involved with O.U.R. operations, none of them ever called Janet or Tim out for for practicing these readings! I also noted, that while Janet was doing the reading, she sounded like she was, A. Giving a patriachal type blessing to Tim Ballard and B. She sounded like she was under the influence of drugs. All of that being said, I appreciate the fact that she and her husband adopted a lot of children, but considering her clear ability to pull off a multi-year con and get paid for it, OR considering she may actually believe in her psychic abilities, just shows me that she is NOT of sound mental health, and perhaps she shouldn't have responsibility over all of those children that she adopted. This whole situation makes me feel deeply concerned for her children and for Tim Ballard's children. Lastly, the scam that they pulled on Gardy's father, is truly heartbreaking. How sick fo you have to be to exploit a parent who has lost their child, for fame and fortune. 🤮 EDIT: So, I hears the final bit of the article where it says that people in OUR were swayed into thinking these readings and couple's ruse was approved by M. Russell Ballard, and they were afraid of Tim coming after them or firing them from their jobs. I can see how that may have influenced their decision to stay silent. It still shocks me that people went along with anything Tim said, because he absolutely comes off as being someone who is full of sh!t.

It should be noted that in the original reading by Janet, after Maxwell handed over the mic to Nephi, there was a long pause and Janet didn't hear anything. Then she heard Maxwell say: "Nephi, you're muted." About 10 more seconds went by and Nephi then started speaking to Janet. Apparently, that got edited out of the audio clip.

Well there is an interview online with an ex psychic that became a mainstream Christian and maintains that doing so made her lose her gift of psychic abilities because she says that any time a psychic is getting a reading or speaking with the dead that they are actually speaking to a fallen angel or demon that is posing as a dead person. She says that's how they get control of people by deceiving them into believing they are the spirits of the dead. So Nephi being a real person has zero baring on whether or not this woman has some kind of connection with spirits. Of course she could just be a complete fraud who's only pretending. But as a person of faith I'm willing to accept either possibility considering the other sorts of activities Ballard was justifying by claiming to be a hero. It actually makes me wonder who's idea the couples ruse was. Did Nephi suggest it? He's always finding ways to break commandments and claim God told him to do it. Lol!

Yeah. Gardi Mardi was a Macguffin. The buried treasure in pirate stories and in Joseph Smith's treasure hunts...is a Macguffin. LDS temple ordinances are Macguffins. What's a Macguffin? In fiction, a MacGuffin is an object, device, or event that is necessary to the plot and the motivation of the characters, but insignificant, unimportant, or irrelevant in itself. Of course, as a real person, Gardi Mardi was important and to his father he was important. But to OUR and TB, the "search for Mardi" was just an emotionally manipulative story designed to elicit massive sympathy-driven donations to the organization. Using a constantly-failing psychic as the main tool for the search just demonstrates what a farce the "search" was. Mardi, in the OUR narrative, was the equivalent of the Holy Grail in an Indiana Jones movie, or the Maltese Falcon in the Maltese Falcon movie, the microfilm in North by Northwest, the briefcase in Pulp Fiction....

I also highly doubt the massive number of children that Tim states are actually trafficked. Inflating the numbers of estimated trafficked children, makes it easier to inflate the numbers of children Tim and O.U.R. are claiming to save. If they are saying they saved thousands of children, they get more donor funds.

I guess she could have just channeled the "Holy Ghost" directly, instead of channeling Neal A. Maxwell and Nephi Anderson. But, ironically, pretending to get messages from the Holy Ghost would seem less special...because everyone and their dog claims to be getting messages from the Holy Ghost. So even though the Holy Ghost is technically a member of the Godhead, getting messages directly from the Ghost has less sizzle than getting messages from deceased Mormon celebrities. (I remember seeing the book "Added Upon" when I was a kid. It was on the bookshelf of a Mormon relative we were visiting. I remember reading part of it. But we left before I could finish. I can definitely see the connection to the Saturday's Warrior themes.)

Early on there was a rumor circulating that Tim Ballard had received the 2nd anointing. I hope this isn't true, because it is a worst-case nightmare for the Church. This might however explain his very public repudiation by the Church (which is very unusual) AND why the Church will neither confirm nor deny any discipline against him now. Remember it was M Russell Ballard who gave 2nd Anointings to both Tom Phillips & the Mattson's, and once one receives this the Church is "hands-off" for any Church discipline. Tim Ballard references "special blessing(s)" from M Rusell Ballard. So, if one of those special blessings was in fact the 2nd anointing, the Church literally will take no action on him, even if he is criminally convicted of sexual predation and goes to jail (that's the logical outcome here I think). If it is ever leaked that he did have this, and he does go to jail, that is going to be a PR disaster for the Church of truly nuclear proportion.

I have never had a psychic reading or listened to one before, but it did sound like she was reading from a script and not channeling the voice of dead people.
