Pure basketball magic. Clean and by the rules crossovers, and ball handling for basketball seminars. Guys like Tim are so desperately needed in today's basketball circus of carrying and travelling.
You see timmy yelling in barkley's face? I used to love that emotion in basketball. Now if you sneeze too hard you get a tech. I still love the game but it's getting too soft.
Exactly the NBA today is SOFT! Everybody flopping, getting mad cause they got touched & always looking for a foul. But I'm actually surprised Barkley stood there & took that from Hardaway.
I think I wasn't as much of an Iverson fan because I got to see Hardaway play a lot when he was in college and on the Warriors. I just felt like Iverson got away with carrying the ball a lot. Hardaway had a powerful, compact and fast crossover...look how bad he made Isaiah Thomas and John Stockton look. They looked like they were standing still!
John Calvacca Preach! Now everyone is carrying the ball... The evolution of the game... I read a lot of the smack from young cats who do not understand the game, "the game was slow" " the players these days are more athletic" blah! blah!. Please! Under the current rules, Timmy, Isaiah, Mike et al will be able to compete at a high level. Under the old rules which favored defense, current elite players would struggle. Darkness is all they would see. I will like to make a case for LeBron, but the lane always seem to open up for him...
@Maximus Prime Iverson's crossover carried him all the way to the HOF 1st ballot. Amazing how when they made a rule against his crossover he changed it and was still getting the same results.
I love Iverson but Tim crossover is so much more polished and alot more better imo. His crossover moves made you literally shift directions and they were so hard to pull off. Rather than Iverson which is just a simple crossover. Tim crossover took time practicing its craft. I am not degrading Iverson though, he is certified legend to the game, no question about it, but in regarding to his crossover moves, some of his moves aren't really NBA moves, they are more streetball moves tbh. Therefore, he got away with alot of the calls, and vice-versa. Therefore, his crossover which is nice, I mean crossing any big man and making him fall, and then making a shot afterwards is hella impressive, but TimHardaway crossover was that much more impressive and alot more polish well at least in my opinion.
to a certain extent i agree--but check the history of the iverson cross--he practiced it extensively as well. but hardaway's is def much harder to do than iverson's
ai may not have the best handles ever but it was his quickness and long legs and slashing ability. mix those and add a nasty crossover be was catching ankles
+Mike Camacho Agreed. Iverson's wasn't a classic crossover, as he was known as more of an outside shooter (vs. Hardaway), so he often faked guys out with pump fakes, as though he was going to shoot, then blow by a defender. By contrast, Hardaway had THE classic crossover, as he could use it at any time (e.g. coming down the court at full speed, off a pick, etc.), and opposing defenders consequently were often times left looking completely faked out. The classic crossover and Hardaway should be a synonym, as he was THE best at using it.
John Braddock I love how the NBA understood that the game had an emotional side to it and allowed the game to flow. Tim would receive a "T" for that in today's game.
Tim Hardaway was a complete point guard. Top 10 in history of basketball. King of the Crossover. Iverson shortest 2 guard in the history of the game. Crossover not as good as Tim's.
The best crossover of all time, period. It wasn't about size, speed or dribbling but just misdirection and one simple dribble but his execution and timing were just flawless, the quintessence of skill.
Tim change directions so fast. He would be in one spot and at the basket the next amazing!!! I honestly think the 90's had better players especially guards Tim,Mitch,Jordan,Magic,Bird, john stockton, gary payton and jason kidd this list can honestly can go on forever with the players that was playing in this era. I am glad i was old enough to witness all especially going to warrior games and watching run tmc live in oakland. Great Video!!!
The orignal killer crossover. I'm a huge knicks fan. Tim is at all of his sons knicks games. He tormented me when I was in high school on the Heat. Tim jr is a solid player but his dad was the man in the 90's
It's so satisfying to see him leaving on the place both Stockton and Isaiah since I consider the 2 of them the best PMs of all time. Talking about "Hardaway" a lot of people think about Penny but I loved Tim sooo much. The best crossover EVER. Focus, heat, speed.
Seeing these clips of Tim makes me wonder how good actor Duane Martin would have lit up Madison Square Garden for the Knicks had he not gotten cut by the team. I bet he would have taken the spot that was later filled by Greg Anthony and would have been a solid backup and then starter after Mark Jackson's trade to the Clippers in the early 1990s. Saw his role in Above the Rim and he's a good actor and an amazing basketball talent too so it would have been so cool to see what he could have done on an NBA court. Oh well! LOL! =)
Yo please share how you were able to get this old footage so clear and in HD. You have some of his Golden State footage looking like it was recorded in HD and I know that footage is from 89 - 93. Great job!
