Chicago legend Tim Hardaway joins the fellas this week on Knuckleheads with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles. Tim takes us through his journey growing up in Chicago, getting his handles on the city sidewalks, heading off to UTEP, and creating the ‘UTEP two-step’. Laugh along as Tim tells us how Don Nelson snatched him late in the draft and then just how confident he got after his first All-Star Game. Hear about the creation of Run TMC and learn why that scoring phenomenon lasted for only two seasons. Then Tim gets into his Miami years, what it was like ballin’ in the mid ‘90s, and how great it feels to have his jersey retired by the Heat. Tim then discusses Tim Jr. playing in the league and tells a hilarious story about the last time they’ll ever play one-on-one. Tim Hardaway is no joke but he’s got a lot of ‘em! You won’t want to miss this one.

He not lying about him dribbling that ball up and down the street. I had family over his way and saw him do it. THEN I had family in and by Altgeld Gardens who went to Carver a few years behind him. Crazy. ps I hung in Altgeld Gardens and I have to disagree with Q a little bit. The Gardens wasn't a joke but the Taylors,The Greens,Ickes,Ida B. Wells were even WORSE.

Pardon my frequent posts but I'm posting as I'm watching. Tim talking about walking the ball is classic. As kids starting at around age 11, my friends and I would have contest. We had a starting point at one end of the block to see who could walk it from one end of the block and back. Wherever we messed up, you had to stop there and the next person went until the winner made it back to the starting point. The better we became, we'd trash talk and if you messed up, you had to go back to the starting point which was more pressure. As we got better the contest had variations such as walking the ball backwards through your legs, in reverse, and without looking down at your dribble (in those contest someone would walk along side of you to make sure your eyes didn't look down). Unbeknownst to us at the time, those contests gave us such a foundation and familiarity with dribbling our handles became noticably CRAZY nice and it showed when we'd play throughout the neighborhood and high school, despite none of us being serious ball players. Anyone reading this who's a coach or a young player trying to improve your handles, practicing and mastering walking the ball with different variations and speeds with muscle memory will make it IMPOSSIBLE for dribbling skills to not be masterful.

Yo!! On everything...Timmy has always been my ALL-TIME Favorite PG in the world! Every since I saw him play against Isiah Thomas at one of the Chicago summer league tournaments at Chicago State Univ. Zeke walked the ball up to the half court line as he did every year at the 2 minute mark and gave it to Tim and the 2 guard. Right after that play, Tim got the ball right back and came down and gave Zeke what I saw for the first time the killer crossover and bust a 3 pointer and answered him back! The gym went crazy! After the game, I stood right there next to the two of them and heard Isiah say..."you've got a nice game man, keep this up, I'll definitely see you in the league." Tim's killa crossover was consice and compact and got you out of there with two moves! Even though you knew it was coming, there was nothing you could do about it! Original Killa Cross-over King!

Guys, Q & D Miles, I can't thank you enough for what you do & how you've enriched my life. As a long-time b ball fan, & a player up until the age of 14 or so, when it became clear that my 5' 8" frame wasn't gonna allow me to realize mg dreams & become a dunker (outside of the 8 foot hoop my father had installed in the garage), I've loved the NBA as a kid & later on as a Blazer fan during that amazing run we had with Bill Walton winning it all against the 76ers in 1977, before Bill fell fatally & ruined his knee pretty much for good. But I married a British girl in the early 90's & moved to the UK & later France. Except for a few finals during the Bull's & MJ period, little was available to me in terns of watching & following the league from that period until very recently. Thanks to your Knuckleheads podcast I'm catching up. Through you all I'm making up for lost time & getting reacquainted with all those great players & personalities I'd missed out on for the past 30 years & more. I'm starting to feel like I was there, courtside, from everyone from the Clippers to the Timberwolves & across the league. So thank you again, awesome dudes, for going to the trouble of creating this awesome podcast, & for asking such insightful questions of players & coaches from the NBA & of course the WNBA. Salut, les gars.

As a 44 year old husband in the Suburbs of Houston who grew up in the inner city of the East Coast....Tim is right. When kids go to 100 today....they go to to 1000, and they ready to shoot. Ain't no fist fighting hardly these days.

Tim and I played for rival grammar schools. His teams were better but during my time Tim was a starter but was like the 3rd or 4th option. I was the 1st option but in order to get better I started playing on the playground of his school, Kohn Elementary, and I knew Mo the guy who took his money shooting free throws. I was saddened to learn he was killed during a robbery.

Third time watching this interview and i FINALLY got the "ball with a titty..." line LOL. I remember that, a small lump is in the ball where the inner tube is starting to bulge out.I rewound that spot at least 20 times 10:30.
