I started loving you years ago when you showed me how to play Travis style, and you did it for free on yt.. but there’s something else that I admire you for: you keep evolving and that is the greatest and most inspiring example available out there

Tim, today my YT feed had your version of Emily on the high tuned Tele, which I dutifully listened to again (I am curious how many of the views are revisits from me?). I have heard a number of guitarists say they dislike “guitar players” in the audience staring at their hands during performances. I am guilty of that myself with one exception; while I really enjoy “watching” you play, you are the only guitarist I know who simply loses me in the music and “listening” supercedes “watching!” Thanks so much! Checking out the amps.

Hey Tim, love the sound of Henriksen amp, with that L7. Question is the amp best suited for a hollow body or acoustic guitar or did you experiment using your Tele or other guitars ? Thank you

This would really make me regret my 6” Henriksen Blu if I didn’t already have a 10” Quilter Micropro2!
@samplings
@samplings 2 года назад
@Pdpmail I prefer the Henriksen over the Quilter for jazz, but the Quilter is a better pedal platform. Rich Severson uses the micropro in many videos on his channel, check his stuff out for a better reference on its jazz tones.

The bud 10 is front ported , the way good sounding acoustic should be . All back or bottom ported. speakers are not that cool for acoustic , lots of mud and constraint eq . especially with k&k pickups , impossible to control bottom end . Have played the bud , and gebenz cpk10 . They can be controlled but have to have several pedals to remove the boom and reconciliation of the signal which is almost but not all as good as could be .. But when played into a front ported ext speaker it they sound great . Wish the bud six was front ported , I would prolly buy one .. I had and gigged with two genzbenz cpk10 for 10 years , light wt and ok after constant eq . The best thing available in 2009 I sold them to a friend and they are working as good as new . I'm going to demo the bud head . I have several qsc k8.2 for various Set ups pa and such and for solo one speaker events . I use a mixing board now because after setting up all the gear to remove the boom of rear ported speakers , the toil is less with the mixer. I'm looking to have guitar and vocal on a pedalboard . Grace felix2 , or radial pz pro then efx pedal . Or just the bud head and maybe use an efx pedal .. The bud head with no efx pedal would be way less expensive than the grace felix with a pedal , and about the same price as the pz pro with a pedal and more flexible .. But what ever sounds better will be the winner . Just because the grace has better reputation won't make it sound beautiful ..when I was younger waisted a lot of money relying on specks and names .. So the plan My nylon and vocal mic into the bud head into one or two qsc k8.2 .

Which amp is better Tim for jazz clean sounds en low volume and moderate volumes: Quilter Toneblock 202 + blockdock 10tc or Hendriksen Bud10 ?
@TimLerchGuitar
@TimLerchGuitar 3 года назад
I suppose it all depends on whether you want a flat response more acoustic sound or if you prefer a more fender ish type sound I don’t think either one is better than the other. I think it just depends on what sound you’re looking for

Great demo - thanks Tim! Couple questions: 1st, would the Bud10 volume hold up in a small venue (bars, small restaurant) gig with trumpet, clarinet, double bass, and sometimes drums or do I need the JazzAmp10? Back isn't what it used to be and portability is also an issue. 2nd, I play all archtops and switch between a DeArmond Rhythm Chief reissue, CC pickups Charlie Christian repro, and Armstrong floating mini. 2nd? We play 30s swing and I like clean for straight 4 3-chord comping but would like to get the little bite/growl when I dig in on lead lines with the CC pup. I guess I'd need an OD pedal to get that - I have an orig Tube Screamer. Do you know if the Bud10 takes OD pedals well? Thanks again - sounds gorgeous - just wonder for small combo-venue gigging.
@TimLerchGuitar
@TimLerchGuitar 2 года назад
Absolutely loud enough and it takes pedals just fine. Try an exotic TC booster to get just a little grit when you dig in.
@roughcutguitars
@roughcutguitars 2 года назад
@@TimLerchGuitar Thanks so much - looking for a bud at my $ now. Looks like there's a tc spark and an xotics Ed booster. Do you recommend one for that natural CC tone grit?

Hi Tim. Enjoy your playing! You have recommended both Quilter and Henriksen. Do you have a preference?
@TimLerchGuitar
@TimLerchGuitar 3 года назад
Both are great, but each has its own voice. I find the quilter to be a bit more on the “fender” spectrum and the Henriksen is more about the acoustic qualities of the instrument. I use and enjoy both.

Hi Mr. Lerch. Lovely playing as always. I am about to go into the studio in the next few months and I've heard really good things about Henriksen's amp. What'd be your choice for a studio situation? Henriksen Blu 10 or a Fender Deluxe Reverb? I'd love to know your thoughts about this
