I met Tim martin about 30 years ago. He turned up for a photo thing when I worked in a Wetherspoons. Thoroughly nice bloke.

If anyone deserves a knighthood these days it is Tim Martin. He saved an old cinema building in the centre of my hometown by turning it into a pub. Wherever I am in the UK, I can usually find a Wetherspoons which reliably serves good food and ale cheaply. Congratulations to him.

Someone at work blurted out that he'd got a knighthood and was almost in tears about it. A couple of the women said they don't care, as they like Wetherspoons and the cheap drinks there. That almost sent the whiney lefty into a full blown meltdown. I shouted across the room that I voted for Brexit just to get another rise out of him.

Im a lefty who loves Wetherspoons and admires Tim for making good beers and good pub grub affordable. Well deserved Knighthood. Ill have a few cheaps beers to celebrate. Cheers Sir Tim !

Well, I visited the UK recently and enjoyed two visits to Wetherspoons. The curries were very good and the beer half the price of elsewhere. And no need to queue at the bar.

As a real ale drinker I am a diehard Spoons fan, the beer is always good and the food is affordable. Tim Martin has saved so many beautiful buildings that would have been destroyed but for his business. Also he is a Brexiter like myself so another reason to support his pubs. He deserves to be recognised for his contribution to the country, that said I’m against the honours list and the titles that go with it. It would be great if he declined the title after all look at many who have been honoured, David Cameron for example, either way I’ll continue visiting Witherspoons for beer, food and company.

Came home April after years being away to see the family. We love the old spoons, and got together as a family every weekend in one of the many old beautiful building Tim has saved. We all agreed the pubs remind us of the old days growing up in pubs, clubs. Where people and families can gather, to enjoy each others company and tell stories. in my local, a pint of bitter( I wont name it ) is £5.30. - I know, ! - its disgusting, considering in the next village, the same pint of ale is £3.30. Tim Martin has been known to sell certain beers at £1.99. a pint. If you are hungry, you can have a small steak with all the trimmings for around a tenner, with a pint of you choice thrown in !!!! What's not to like ??? The man has probably become exceedingly wealthy by NOT ripping off the man in the street, and I for one have the utmost respect for his stance both in business and his stand against the 4th Reich ! He was a true Brexiteer. He is a threat to the lefty woke brigade, and I heartilly applaud him. As for his Knighthood ?? Well deserved when you look at the crooked cronies who have been handed an " honour " for being abjectly dishonourable. p.s.Speaking as a Scot, it is my opinion that Mr.Martin could do Scotland a favour by taking over the Scottish parliament building at Holyrood, and turning it into a " Spoons " - it would serve the Scottish people much better in that role ?????

Well said. I enjoyed many of the 12 Real Ales of Christmas in my Catford SE6 'Spoons' for £2.66 a pint. Even better, I joined the Campaign for Real Ale [CAMRA] and got a bunch of 50p off Real Ale at 'Spoons', so got my beers for £2.16. Awesome!

Great news, being recognised for hard work and investment, what did Queer Stammer get his knighood for, letting Jimmy Saville off the hook comes to mind and as for the Knigthood for Liar Blair responsible for the deaths of hundreds of British servicemen and women as well as tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis......

Hale to Weatherspoon's! One of the only places where s.o. can buy a pint and ordinary folk can gather or just stare at the bottom of a glass reflecting on their lives and the world, with the gentle hum of human beings around them instead of sitting in a lonely flat, with a pile of washing up and a TV for company.

When ever we plan a driving trip around some part of the UK in petrol motorised car, we always check out there's a Spoons hotel to stay at.

I hate royalty and all that shit, but this guy is overdue recognition for re- igniting the working class community by restoring old buildings and turning them into lovely community spaces for ordinary people. He has seen the collapse of the working men's clubs and filled the void with value packed pubs that serve good grub and real ale at great prices. May he continue to be successful!! And I'm a believer in non binary politics!! 😁

My daughter is artistic and wetherspoons is the only place we can take her for food without her having a meltdown she feels safe there and loves their spaghetti bolognese and enjoys her time in wetherspoons plus we can enjoy are meal without having to cancel our food and leave congratulations to Tim Martin thank you we have found somewhere for our daughter to enjoy eating out

The community, the chances for young people to have a job, the ability for even a family of 10 to have a meal out, the old boys who are there every day and can afford it, the consistently low prices and the consistency of the atmospheres (no music no bouncers no bullshit) Mr Martin is a British success story not only for himself but for everyone who wants to share in the success with a cheap pint and fish and chips for under a tenner, WELL DESERVED. Wish I had invested early!

Well done Sir Tim, his busineeses have saved so many town centre historic buildings and built them in to cheap social hubs in a time when pubs are vanishing at an alarming rate. He talks a good Brexit argument too.

I remember going to miller and carter with a lot of family. We pushed 2 tables together so we could all sit around. The staff told us we cant do that because it was a fire risk, i told her, were not going to rub the tables together.
