A few hints for the game: - Set Farms to prioritize planting, this way they will immediately replant every crop they harvest, so there will be no idle time - you don't need a dam for the first dry season, just store enough water - place water storage all around the base, so it will be closer for beavers to get to it (shorter pauses to ge a drink) - making a dam between the tiny lake and the river will make that lake survive the entire dry season (you are not pumping water from the lake as you do from the river) - you can use levies instead of dams, they use less wood, but they block water flow completely. You need 3 or 4 dams on the river to not cause a flood, and rest can be levies.

I agree with all of that except the water tanks spread out. Beavers only get water at the end of the day half of the time so it's not such a huge deal for them to walk a bit. If you put the tanks next to the pumps and the housing right by there too you'll have less run time.

@@AssidiousBlue Anything over 16 hours work time will hurt the reproducing rate. Beavers need time to both sleep, eat, drink and socialize.

When beavers work 24h a day, they don't have any time to fill their comfort, sleep, social or fun meters. When they run out of sleep bar, they fall asleep where they are, whether or not they have a home, they will sleep outside. It acts as a decent strength nerf to the 24h work cycle. I THINK that beavers refill their sleep bar slower when not sleeping in a house.

Yea 24hrs is basically death. You can literally get away with 20hrs for Folktail and 22hrs with IronTeeth just fine.

You can micromanage your colony by pausing buildings that aren't doing anything. One example is the farm. They only need to be staffed when they harvest and plant crops.

Great game, kinda lacking in any sort of late game but the foundation is solid. Tragedy storms him when beavers spare her life And all discover she has a beaverheart (Beaverheart)

yeah, but it's early access. I personally hope to see a lot more, including more beaver clans, revamped late game... who knows where they'll take it.

glad to see quill finally playing this. You can assign your builders to remove the stumps with the Remove resources command. Tree will drop saplings next to them in any empty tile.

Don't remove stumps. You can build right over them. Tons of unnecessary work. You'd have to remove saplings that are in the way though.

@@deViant14 you should still remove the stumps if you are using the area for wood, as the trees won't grow where a stump is. atleast i have not seen any.

The cutest sounds come when you build landmarks (wonders or whatever they called) that provide Awe. These is a little "Woooow" sounds and such play when you click them, its great.

They're really not different. They both play exactly the same except automatic breeding vs you click a button when you want a test tube baby. The wood powered engine is pointless because after the extra beavers to get wood you may as well use beaver power.

The first game I played, I had 2 or 3 extremely drastic population dips, like down to around 4 Beavers, but was able to recover (the first phase of recovery is *very* slow). Also the District I tried setting up to the north, to mine the Iron, died out completely, twice. In that area, my mistake was that I wanted to grind the Scrap Metal in situ, and make Planks too, so I set up 8 billion Hamster Wheels. Bad idea! A District in a barren area should be a minimum population colony, since supplying it with Food and especially Water is very slow.

If you have 8 beavers in a distribution post sending Carrots, Grilled Potatoes, Logs, Planks and Water it keeps 8+ starting colony going no problem. Build a builders hut in the new district after you have log pile, water storage, and warehouse. It works out nicely.

You have the lumber mill setup wrong the inlet for the power is right next to the door. It makes placing and powering the thing very hard.

Power inlet is any edge, and can get power from other buildings

@@AssidiousBlue really? That's not intuitive as there is a big circle for a gear inlet for the power and it only lights up green when you connect it like that.

There’s a subtle blue colour that adjacent buildings that can share power also glow, and when you’re placing power coupling (e.g. the wheel) the blue gear moves to any other face. You can move power though buildings up and down, too (like a stack of lodges) before you get the “power” log piece, and it’s actually easier for large heights.

QUILL power from the wheels travel through buildings, so you don't need a complex gear design, the water wheels can be connected to each other without gears. And stop deleting the flags without emptying them. YOU ARE FORFEITING THE COLLECTED RESOURCE.

I tried playing this game but I kinda gave up when I had to make another district, it felt really clunky and impractical, its also surprisingly hard because of the water, if you get a particularly long drought and build too many houses you can easily run out of food and water while thinking everything was fine and stable. though I do see a lot of potential in the game, and I really hope they improve it a lot more in the future.

@@danilooliveira6580 That’s why you need better planning and priorities. For example always plan to secure water with dams and levees ASAP. Expanding too fast when you obviously can’t support it is always a bad idea. I’ve played enough hard mode that it has become very easy.

@@jenniferhamels1176 indeed, I usually don’t expand my population past 15 until the third cycle at the earliest. Usually enough time to get infrastructure in place for 40-50 beavers to move into right away. I really wish there was more to do late game as it eventually turns into sandbox mode with extra steps. I’d like to see something like more factions, maybe different types of disasters; perhaps a monsoon season that will steadily flood the map and potentially make your buildings inaccessible. Or a winter theme, where growing is impossible without some new technologies and the water steadily freezes so you need deeper pumps or larger storage. Edit: I usually don’t even bother with housing until I have my forester online as the logs are better used elsewhere.

New trees onljy grow from old, mature trees. Before you have a forester, you should only cut every other column of trees, and later work so that one tree has all adjacent tiles to be cut on Once you get a forester, this problem goes away but the above will see you through to the forester

Quill, you can never be trusted with managing people's needs. If there is ever a work schedule that can be maxed out 'just for this crisis', it will stay there for weeks of game time. Those poor beavers.
