I got a deck of these at a rummage sale without meaning to because they had a deck box I bought originally for YugiOh cards and they were inside of them and the art is pretty so I had to learn how to play out of curiosity. Thank you!

You should play a scripted duel where you and your partner explain the rules as they play, I used to learn TCGs by seeing other people play in my local gs, and unlike competitive and online play those guys used to explain everything aloud making it easier 😂

@@RulerSchoolTCG i thank you for your great effort! sir but i have a question regarding drain, Example : if a j/resonator with drain has 900 attack and attacks a resonator with 500 DEF do you as the controller of the Resonator with drain gain 900 or 400 ? an answer would be greatly appreciated

@@magicpot7577 you always deal your entire attack as damage, even if it woudl do more than that targets defense. so you deal 900, and thus drain 900!

Once per turn during your main phase you can rest a ruler to call a stone from the stone deck, taking the top card of your magic stone deck and putting it into play

Videos like this are crucial, especially with how often they change the mechanics of J-rulers. My community shrunk drastically with how much they changed how J-rulers work.

I didn't really understand the no shadow blocking thing Does just the difference damage the target or the full power of the resonator that destroyed the blocker?

so say im attacking you the player. you declare a block with a resonator I respond by using some tool to destroy/remove your blocker before the block happens you as the player then take the full amount of damage that you were originally going to be dealt, as that blocker is no longer in teh way to stop any damage. hope this helps!

11:48 I have a question from a situation from this timestamp. How does the chase actually resolve with resonators? From what I saw a resonator was played, summoned, and then put back on the chase to use it's ability. Do resonators have special rules regarding the chase?

So casting a resonator puts them on the chase. Once the cast of the resonator resolves, they then enter the field, and if they have a "when this card enters the field" type effect, that effect will then go on the chase to attempt to resolve. Hope that helps!

So I was collecting FoW cards for their art and wanted to learn how to atually play the game. Have tons of card, but I fear they are all outdated. I think the last set I opened was Curse of the Frozen Casket? Everything else varies from then all the ay back to Crimson Moon. Any chance I can still learn to play the updated format with these older cards? I used to pla Yu-gi-oh, but strayed to MTG to play non rotating formats. Figured this would be a cool place to ask! Thanks!

you could certainly learn how to play the game for sure, although natural power creep over the 6 years since those cards came out woudl make it so power level wise they might not be up to snuff with new age decks. That being said, the recently released "pilgrim memories" set is all pretty much staple wanderer reprints and current era power level support specifically for grimm cluster era rulers! That would be what i recommend picking up!

As an experienced MTG player that's trying FoW for the 2nd time (I tried it once during 2014-2015 and didn't retain anything), I have a question about Resonator Additions: do they require a target in order to enter the battlefield (similar to auras), or am I able to have them enter and then they check for a target? I know some have an ETB trigger, so I need to know how this works. Thank you.

Ah so The Chase is like Chain Link In Yugioh. I'm new to FOW so this helps when I buy some cards.

So it's more like magics stack. In Yu-Gi-Oh, once the chain starts resolving you have to resolve everything on the chain. In fow, you resolve each step of the chase individually, and have the opportunity to put new triggers/abilities/cards in the chase while it is still resolving

I can't stand TCG's that have so much text on them to read that you have to squint to read. That's why I like Solforge Fusion so much. Short simple text you can read.
