I am deeply proud to be connected to Grandaddy Hanna's family - Sir Roland was one of the few brave acoustic jazz instrumentalists who kept the genre alive in the 80's and 90's. Being underrecognized didn't stop him from pouring his heart and soul into the music. A true musician and an inspiration.
When I think of all those sides from Mingus and Thad Jones, Hanna is so much a part of the greatness. His voice, his counterpoint, his majesty - even that Detroit sound, pure magic!
