I used to live on a hill with my late partner and this song always brings back such precious memories. This is a great rendition. I still love the recording by Peggy Lee... heartbreaking.
January 1961, a 10 year old kid was up late, out in the shop, listening to 'Meisterbrow Showcase Theater' clear channel, I heard Etta, i called from Iowa to Chicago, I wanted to talk to the DJ, they said 'no problem'. I said, I want to hear more of Etta Jones, he said , me too, he played the whole album side.
Those were the very best jazz years. All that pure individual talent manifested itself post WW2 and changed it in inventive, passionate, improvisational jazz. Enjoy this wild roller-coaster jazzy live session folks. Toodeloo’s & Cheers!
I had the extreme pleasure of meeting etta at a club in Harlem with the great Houston person band. I had a radio show at that time I timidly asked her to please make an appearance, she consented. I feel in deep love 💝 with her and I still love her right now. God bless you Mrs Etta Jones!!!!!!!
