Caller number one here... I am on track to double my income plus after talks with my supervisor about more hours and whatnot. I have open enrollment for insurance and such in February and am going to sign my family up to get off Medicaid. Once my first paycheck comes in with more than what it usually is, we will be cut off from assistance and totally on our own. I appreciate your comment, as it helped light a fire under me and I now am very aware of how possible it is to do this without the help that was hindering me so badly. I'm excited for this next chapter in my life.

Just an abuse of government benefits ( caller number one). He is physically and mentally capable of getting off the benefits and providing for his family on his own, but he chooses not to. Government benefits are a HELP, NOT A LIFESTYLE. Unfortunately a lot of ppl abuse the system and then other can't get help

I would love to share with the guy who said he loved detailing cars... I was an Air Force Officer's Wife for 12 years after he left me for another woman found myself doing things I thought I would never do my entire life which included detailing cars, then boats, and Hummers, and Airplanes, and lived it in that era! But yes!; since he loved his job, which I never knew I would enjoy during that time, if he built a name for himself with a specific market, he could do very well owning his own business, and I would encourage him to extend his market to small planes and boats if it is in his geographical area to introduce his skills to these areas and work hard and enjoy doing what he loves thru his own business, and I think he would do brilliantly...! Wish him the best and I encourage him to establish his own business and just Go for it, if that is what he loves...!

His advice is well grounded, with great examples. He shows how discipline, career, personal outlook, habits, and unplanned events work together. No one can plan the last item, but if the previous items are well aligned, the latter can be mitigated or remediated. His use of facts, indignation, and humor holds the listener.

The correct response to anybody who says they are "not money driven" is "You need to learn to be.".....The people who say this are the same ones who say "Money is not important." That's complete hogwash. It's ok to be broke and dependent on others when you are 20, but it's a disgrace when you are 40. And if you can't help yourself because you're broke, you sure as heck can't help anyone else.

I’ve never met a generous rich person . They are usually tight with their money , but I have met generous poor people with what little they had .
@elmateo77
@elmateo77 2 года назад
I'd bet the top 10% of people donate more $ to charity than the bottom 90%. They're not necessarily tight with their money, just smart with it. They'll research a charity then donate a large amount to it in a way that gets them the maximum tax benefits for it. Just because they don't go handing out money to anybody who asks for it doesn't mean they're not generous.
@nowandthennn
@nowandthennn 2 года назад
@@elmateo77 This might be true , but most organize charities are rip offs and only a small portion of the money goes for the intended purpose and 90% goes in the pockets of the top heads , and the rich people who donated end up with a favor done for them sooner or later . Almost worthless !!
@elmateo77
@elmateo77 2 года назад
@@nowandthennn I wouldn't say most, but there are certainly some like that. That's why it's important to do your research before donating. And just handing cash to anybody who asks for it is far worse, because many of them have problems besides just not having enough money. If you give cash to somebody with a drug or alcohol addiction, you're more likely to get them killed than help them.
@nowandthennn
@nowandthennn 2 года назад
@@elmateo77 yeah , handing cash out allot of the time is a rip off , too . I was talking about like paying a utility bill for a poor person or buying them a meal , not handing out cash for drugs , even though if a druggie goes too long without their fix they could get seriously ill .
@wandahaines7143
@wandahaines7143 2 года назад
The majority of the rich people I know are very generous. They just don't have the need to brag about it. They also want to give it to worthy causes. You not wanting to work or want somebody to help pay for your wedding or your vacation is not a worthy cause. Rich people are rich because they use their money wisely. This is why lottery winners are usually broke within 5 years. It's from the leeches coming out and wanting money. Then being nice people they give it to them. I like Dave's way of giving money. You can give a small amount one time say a $100 maybe $500 Make them go through FPU. Prove that they know how to handle the money.

I decided from now on I'm going to stay working atleast 1-2 extra hr each day and that's my plan. We usually finish our route and we run out that door but not this year haha. Years ago i was a regular delivery driver and loved doing it so i decided to get my commercial driver license and that opened more doors. Timing is crucial. He needs to have his steady dependable income in a way that is strong enough. Getting on the subsidized programs especially housing , is not easy. Giving it up is scary and maybe not wise during these high inflation times. Getting advanced education ..maybe with scholarshops.. is a better use of free time.

You are asking someone who is not financially stable to increase their cost of living to go back to school. Doing what he has the passion for will do more to help him in the long-run than anything else. (I saw your comments about the company above) They are not telling to set a goal like ownership because working step by step towards a goal; because, it helps lead you in a single direction. As someone who was so financially unstable that they almost took their life to get out of it, I can tell you the single focus mindset helps a Lot!
