are we having Sheftner because of the ESPN deal? Starting to think that Pat is slowly losing liberties (which ultimately is the best part about the show)
Haha. Are you saying that the 4-5 minutes of talking about the Aiyuk situation could be shortened down to: ”I don’t know what will happen with him. What is beinning to become clear though. Is that there is not much time left if he is going to have some time to practise, no matter on what team”.
Is there anyone in Sports that talks as much as Shefty, without really saying anything at all? Edit: after an accumulation of information I have adjusted my spelling. Post post edit: After conferring with source....s. I have concluded that as of 6:15 Central Standard Time/7:15 American Standard Time. That I have no additional useful things to say. Nor have I ever.
Literally everybody on every show besides Cynthia frelund who uses data to make points. At the same time, you know damn well you wouldn’t watch people if they just went, “no updates on aiyuk. Seems like nothing will get done. Next topic”
@ 00:54 "I think we're at the point now where we're gonna start to get a push here to see how this winds up, how it's resolved". Thanks for the insight Schefty, very good info. This dude doesn't smoke meat.
@@12thMandalorianthe past has shown us this isn't even true. Dudes will hold out until the season starts, some guy did it on the chiefs last year then got a ring
The thing I hate most about Pat working with ESPN is Schefter being on the show. He's everything I hate about sports coverage and the opposite of Pat's brand.
Ppl who draft Ceedee and Aiyuk early are gonna get burnt in their fantasy drafts. There is an inarguable track record for holdouts who miss camp and the preseason that get injured or have less productive yrs then normal. The proof is all there and yet ppl are drafting them like everything is fine and dandy
lol I feel like I need to wipe the spit off my monitor watching Adam Schefter spit talking. The angle of the camera and back lighting its spraying everywhere lol
Aiyuk looks out the window of his Bay Area mansion home and when the phone shows Pittsburgh, Cleveland or New England, he's like... "Nah... I like it here in the SF Bay Area!" Whatever they pay Schefter, I'll take half to tell y'all that Aiyuk ain't going nowhere!
It's way different, the reason Bell sat out was to get not just high RB money, he wanted to reset the market as part of his contract, and didn't want to play on the tag. Aiyuk just wants high market money. Big difference.
Yup, big picture it's comparable for sure. Now I don't think the "wrong" outcome will hurt either side as much as Bell's career and Pittsburgh's run game(was absolutely AWFUL for a while after Bell left) were hurt, but it's certainly plausible right now that Aiyuk goes elsewhere and undermines his career some and the 9er's offense takes a decent hit should he leave. Still a presumed top offense with or without Aiyuk of course, but I'm sure we all agree that they'll be better with him than without.
Bell wasn’t under contract. He got franchise tagged and never signed the tag. Bell did essentially sacrifice $14.5 million to sit out the season though. Aiyuk is under contract and can be fined, plus his contract will toll if he doesn’t play the minimum number of games.
QBs and WRs ruined the salary for all players. If you ain't a playoff contending/playing QB, you ain't WORTH $55 MILLION DOLLARS... LET ALONE $35 MILLION as a WR... Aiyuk deserves the money because he WAS able to help the team get to the superbowl and previously to the championship... Others have only impressed during the normal season. REAL season starts in Jan...
Nick Bosa and Chris Jones both make over $30 mill. Not just quarterbacks and wide receivers. Money is getting spread everywhere. Pays to be good at what you do.
Yea, he’s gonna play. If he plays and he gets injured in any way, he’s just going to sit and he’ll walk at the end of the year and the 49ers won’t get anything for him in return. And that will be that! If they won’t pay him then just trade him. It’s simple.
@@redman8767able they're literally trying to pay him.. and even in your instance they could still re-sign him during or after the year. The way people really act like the reporting on this stuff is actually about what matters still is baffling. We're only two years removed from Deebo being gone no matter what no way to work it out then they did. They're currently working on it and it'll get done but they're not running out of time lol
@@C.A.D. I highlight doubt that. You’re a fool. The NFL just lost a court battle and is ordered to pay $4.7 billion dollars in damages. The cap is not going up.
I'm general I'm in favor of players getting paid! That being said it is funny, yeah I got a year, or two, or three left on my contract, but I'm worth more, so pay me more! Yet when they start to go down hill in terms of play, the team can't come to them and say "hey you suck and aren't worth the money that we signed you for, let's re-do the contract again for cheaper."
Dude, teams do that all the time. That's why we always say the guaranteed money is the only money that matters. Teams tell the player that we either rework the contract or you're getting traded or cut.
Teams have sometimes even cut or restructured players who play up to their contracts on the assumption that they will start to decline in the next year or two. Teams and management deserve no grace from the olayers
Homie has it backwards… you correct Trent first… then you worry about Aiyuk. Trent is WAY more important to the Niners, now, in the so called Super Bowl window they say is closing.
While showing the stats of Aiyuk, keep in mind those aren’t “Deebo yards”. Most of Aiyuks yards were through the air, remember that. And let’s remember, as well, how accurate his QB was/is, how his QB would lead him away from coverage when the opportunity was there, gives him passes, more often than not, that keep him safe, and absolute dimes in tight coverage. Aiyuk can be a product of the system, and players around him, just as much as they say Purdy is. Let that sink in… 😅
I hope Omar Kahn channels his internal Vito Corelone and tell John Lynch”…I have to say no….good luck with your business as long as your interest doesn’t interfere with my business”.
Man I love being a bears fan right now. Can’t stand these greedy receivers who won’t play unless they get top 5 money. DJ and Rome will never cry like this guy
When will people tell it like it is... the 49ers organization is dysfunctional. The way they resign players, extend players, treat QBs (Jimmy G, Trey Lance), their standing with Santa Clara County, etc.
Also Aiyuk already has two clear options: play with Steelers for top 5 money and lower team success or player with 49ers for top 8-10 money and have a shot at the Super Bowl. It’s so black and white bro, just pick one
Aiyuk needs to realize, there are only so many NFL teams, and only a few would be considered winners who'd be willing to pay ballpark market value for him. The way things are going I feel like him and his camp are going to need to just find a team willing to give him the bag. There's no more money in San Fran, big Trent wants a raise, Purdy will be extended after this season. Unless the 49ers ship Deebo and have Aiyuk Pearsall as their 1-2 punch of the future I just don't see him staying put, and I don't see him going to a playoff team and making $30 mill.
When will y'all figure out it's not about the overall money. It's about the guaranteed money. If Aiyuk just wanted money, he would be a Patriot. He wants to stay in San Francisco. I bet 3 years, $60 mill with $50 guaranteed would end the whole thing.
How dare you criticize Purdy for taking a “sack”, stepping outta bounds two yards back. Could this be the play where it was scramble drill? The play where Purdy was trying to tell his WR to come back? And when Purdy was coming back inbounds letting him know what’s up, with authority and irritation? Would that be the play you are referring to, Pat McAfee? Come on now! The only reasons for Purdy playing were to get a feel for real pressure and not practice pressure, as well as game time reps with the center. NOBODY expected anything spectacular from purdy in those outings.
"If he goes somewhere else, fans would be pumped to have him" Not in Pittsburgh. We kind of have a history with diva WRs...and a certain RB. We're tired of divas. Except for the fantasy football sect, they're just in it for the points.
@0:44 is why we let Diggs go. Stands there watching the play right in front of him instead of throwing himself in the mix. Then makes an alibi tackle. Dude's a bum
I don’t think Aijuk would leave a championship caliber team for a couple million more, only to get smacked by the Ravens every year. Throwing a hissy fit is worth a couple million for sure, but leaving the team is a different story. He’s been bluffing this whole time.
He's literally playing per game, right now. He gets hurt, he's got nothing. That's why they want at least the season they're going into guaranteed. Trent Williams plays the most taxing position on the field.
It's like this Pittsburgh offered him 28 plus million the 49ers would have pay 32 plus million to match Pittsburgh steelers offer facts !!! Because the taxes are ten times higher in California than they are in Pittsburgh facts!!
Sewell is the top tackle in the NFL, not Trent Williams. Also, the preseason is showing who Purdy really is. He can't put a team on his back to win games without one of the best lineups of skill position players in the NFL. The 49ers will always be Shanahan's system. Granted, it is very QB friendly, but Brock will never have any input as far as the offensive scheme goes.
Hey Pat, this is getting old. Nobody cares about the Aiyuk situation except for Aiyuk, 49ers organization, and some fans. So, stop with the "is time running out for everyone." Again, we don't care.
Am I losing it, or did Chris Jones sit out week 1 of the regular season in the owners box last year? This whole “time is running out” narrative seems misplaced to me
Probably a wildly unpopular opinion, but Aiyuk is not worth what these top receivers are getting. I don't know how this whole pre madonna thing isn't just killing his market and pay. Way too much bs when the season is a couple weeks away.
I know what he wants. He wants to be a Chief playing for Mahomes and wants more than Tyreek Hill's pay with a 5 year fully guaranteed contract. There, simple.
Atleast it's not as bad as the Jets with Haason Reddick. He's probably never gonna play in NY and he's close to 2 million worth of fines this preseason alone for not showing up.
At this point, BA is coming off as a bit of a diva. He wanted more more, it's been offered, and he still doesn't want it. He doesn't want to go the the Patriots or Steelers for some good reasons. 49ers offered more money, he's still holding out. I don't think it's the money at this point because it's been offered various places. He seems like he's a person that wants "words of affirmation". That's his love language. He wants someone to tell him he's the best and they need him on the team because he's just that great. Nothing else really makes since at this point.
Out of the top Wars they showed, all but waddle and Moore (Moore just might be better) are better than Aiyuk. Nitty gritty, Aiyuk is nowhere near the “PROVEN” level that the top 4 are at, so I stand by my statement that Aiyuk is not worth 30, period!
Colts should've drafted a CB in the second round and got Ayuk via trade... I like AD Mitchell but the Colts secondary is a mess... could've got the best DE in the draft a great CB in the second and fixed the WR position in one draft...
