Here comes the revamp for the short but sweet Time Lord! One of the many David Wise OST's that is praised for being the best quality part of the game, while this game has the fantastic graphical flair of most Rare developed titles and plays well, it is ridiculously hard, again, a Rare staple. It's always a good challenge to try and beat this game, but that difficulty is definitely a mark against it. Luckily, for also being a fairly common title, Wise's soundtrack has been heard plenty through the years since its release, all of the main stage tracks fitting the mood perfectly for there respective time zone, and that Title Screen is always a banger! Thanks again to my buddy Th11vdan ( www.twitch.tv/th11vdan ) for the closing animation being used on all future 8BS revamp videos! :)
I still remember getting this game for Christmas all those years ago... I played it a lot, but never beat it. I think the farthest I ever got was to Ship/boat a couple of times.
When I was growing up my family never had the modern consoles at the time, in fact the most modern we had was the Nintendo Wii and that was in 2013! Instead I had the N64, NES and DS. This game I can fondly remember as being my favourite despite it being extremely difficult. So when I was in school and everyone was talking about CoD and whatever else there was back in the early 2010s I was there talking about how I couldn't get past Zone 2 of Time Lord. This is why I love retro games. If I had to have a favourite piece of the soundtrack it would be 00:34.
The music and gameplay really reminds me of A Nightmare on Elm Street, I had to look it up, and it is the same composer and developer! Awesome. This is why I love this channel!
Just a minute observation, but since this was made by Rare and the TimeSplitters games were made by Free Radical who were prominent ex-Rare employees, does that mean that TimeSplitters was partially inspired by Time Lord? After all, both this game and TimeSplitters has the protagonist traveling through time to defeat a hostile alien species hellbent on tampering with human history while collecting time crystals in the process, though whether the antagonists in each time period in the TimeSplitters games are actually aliens disguised as humans and/or terrestrial fauna like in Time Lord or whether they’re humans who have allied themselves with the aliens for personal gain is something I haven’t figured out yet.
Thank you so much - I love this soundtrack far more than the game itself! One of my all time favorites from the NES. I tried and failed so many times to beat this game back when it was first released...made it to the last level a few times but that was it. I completed so many of the well known difficult games back then but this was one of the few that left me humiliated in defeat. In my opinion, this is one of the hardest games on the NES (top 5 for me) and is often overshadowed by other well known difficult games...but make no mistake this game is a beast. I've yet to meet anyone who legitimately beat it back in the day.
I got this game for christmas the year it came out. My brother, Dad and I used to take turns playing it all the time. The furthest we ever got was the Ship/boat level.
The boss that I never could beat as a kid. I could stay alive forever against it, but couldn't figure out what the gimmick to hurt it was. Nintendo Power, you failed me!
@@mysteriousparadoxproductio9339 You mean beating the boss or collecting the orbs? You usually need to either shoot the orbs or melee attack invisible spots in the air to bounce off them. The boss is literally a case of "shoot it until it dies" and takes a real long time.
@@avalond1193 I think it's time for us to start admitting to ourselves that "Nintendo hard" really meant "nobody knew how to balance games well yet so like battered housewives we just put up with it."
@@reloadpsi Good point. This game is a prime example of being so difficult it just loses all appeal...minimal lives, no continues and gameplay that is all over the map. From a fat bandito that regenerates his life or having to hit a giant clam that can kill you in two hits 28 fucking times with a dagger is insane. And the timer...take too long finding those orbs and it's game over pal. This game could have been a classic if it had been more balanced...hell even a few continues would have helped tremendously.
