I see your point. I think the OP was thanking the Italians and having them come to the U.S. where they more or less created this food. They adapted to the ingredients they could get here.
@Joey-Zaza yeah but the original dishes have a lot less ingredients, americans are adding ingredients to dishes on top of what existed ... look at the invention of chicken on top of pasta, that's not a scarcity of original ingredients issue, the heat gets trapped between the chicken and pasta and completely ruins the pasta, it's how things are done, not so much the adaptation to local ingredients
Some people wanna go to Europe, some people wanna go to Disneyland,.... I wanna go to this guy's deli and get that How you doin!.... Respect and love from South Philly

Nothing makes me happier than an Irish/Italian that makes a beautiful sandwich yet doesn’t know how to pronounce most of the ingredients. When did abbreviating names for cheese and ham become chic! Prosciutto!!’ Mozzarella!! Come on dude
Every single imported necessary concoction which you could import from italy and its the goddamn sun dried peppers. Cut your costs guy, get em from california for god sakes.
