I listen to this album like 8 times a day because I drive a taxi and it's the only CD I have in the car, I think I listened to it more than 200 times last month, people seems to like it at least, so I'm spreading stones music somehow. Thanks for the video, from Argentina.
I’m glad you liked my video, Emanuel, thank you! This album is also one of my favorites, and that’s good that you’re spreading it to your passengers! Greetings from Brazil!
My favorite Stones solo guitar ever. I think Mick knew his time was coming to an end with the Stones . He quit at a Christmas party in 74' Thanks for allowing me to enjoy this treasure.
One of THE most gorgeous and brilliant guitar pieces ever. You have done Mick proud. I love the haunting qualities of the piece and the obvious nods to Carlos Santana. The genius of Mick Taylor beautifully performed. Absolutely brilliant.
Justin, that is brilliant on so many levels. Your playing of the great Mick Taylor is absolutely flawless. Secondly, the fact that you know the guitar so well and that your ear is so good that you can pick out the subtleties of Mick’s playing is incredible. I love how you show multiple cameras when there are acoustic parts including harmonics or two electrics. I have watched many videos of others playing Taylor and Richards parts. This is the very best in my opinion.
For some reason this last solo has always brought tears to my eyes. I thought only Mick Taylor could do that, but you just made me look for a handkerchief, so I'm not sure I have to thank you--but I sure admire you.
A great gift for people all over the world, Justin. A remarkable lesson in every respect and I'm happy to read people's grateful comments. Songs about time, like this one and Pink Floyd's, continue to haunt and prod us. I'm actually glad that this gem never got overplayed like so many of the others. Still fresh and provocative. Thanks for sharing your obvious passion... Brian
A+ Cover Justin I consider this one of the TOP 3 greatest guitar solos in Rock History. Thanks for showing us Mick Taylor's fingerwork. Great job from Start to Finish. Showing all 3 guitar parts was a nice touch as well. Cheers!
WOW!!! I'm blown away Justin. I wish more music fans knew about a lot of the Stones music that never got played on the radio. An a mazing song and incredible guitar playing by MT. You the man JV!!!
Mick Taylor was my number one guitar hero growing up, learning some of his Stones licks. This one was one of them and showing it all courtesy of Justin! Bravo!!! Brilliant!!!.....it is amazing in so many ways....beautiful, elegant, truly a piece for good players to have a great example of style, structure, melodic interpretation and generation, makes great music. When I saw Mick Taylor play this song live I was almost in tears at how beautiful it was, with the other guitars, piano....wow, what a memorable night.
Just found this and so pleased. One of my favourite solos of all time and you've nailed it - flawless transcription and feel. One of those solos that's just right out there on its own, it just sounds different. Sounds Santana(ish) - but don't know if that was intentional. Read an MT interview many years ago - he said Jagger had promised to share the songwriting credits with him, but it came to nothing - shame, without the solo it's only half the song.
I'm glad you liked it, Fenella, thank you so much! Yes, it is really a shame that MT has not received any songwriting credits for this song. His contribution here is huge, thanks to him it sounds unlike anything the Stones had ever done.
This is a work of pure genius - a timeless classic. Everything is perfect for the mood and the lyrics which Shelley would have been proud of . The arrangement, the choice of instruments -particularly the piano as backing are so moving. I love Jagger's wistfulness and his vocal intonations which are perfect. And of course Taylors guitar finale is magic.
Talented dexterity. great rendition...Incidentally just along the road from me..I am in France...poor me...but someone has indelibly chalked on a wooden hut along the roadside that Time Waits for No One...oui en anglais...it's been there a few years...Never has a phrase been more pertinent than at this particular moment in time... Here melodically played as a homage to the great Mick Taylor..and to the fabulous Rolling Stones...Time Waits for No One and it is certainly not waiting for me... This is my favourite Stones song too... It has great resonance for me.
Bravo! I always considered this Taylor's crowning achievement as a soloist in his relatively brief time with the Stones. Does anyone else detect a Carlos Santana-ish vibe in the phrasing or "feel" of this solo? And the tone! I could swear I'm hearing this played through a Mesa Boogie. Witnessing it being so immaculately performed here brought tears to my eyes!
Many thanks again, Mark Anthony Hauck! You're right in the comparision with Santana, as a matter of fact, I see similarities also in Can't You Hear Me Knocking solo, don't you think? And yes, I used a Mesa Boogie Mark IV for this recording, good ears!!
I got the intro, and the brigde solo and take me a long time to get it.The solo could be in 250 years. Thanks for to share you are a great musician with a lot of class and taste. All my best wishes from Barcelona
Thank you, Keef Richards! The solos are very long, so it is natural that it takes more time to decorate all its parts. Barcelona is a lovely city, I was there in 2017 to see the Stones at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Gran abraçada per a vosaltres!
Hello Mick ähm sorry Justin - heaven, you play like Mr. Taylor . Wow heads off - Mick Taylor is one my heroes . His Sound and solos on Winter are superb. Phantastic from you !! Greets and best whiches Udo
Awesome playing, Justin!!! You dazzeled me with your profound performance!!! Your'e an outstading talented musician!!! Thank you for the poignant entertainment that impels one to ponder deeply.
Wow! I just came across this in my weekly "going down the rabbit hole" of all things Stones on RU-vid. This song, for me, is Top 5 Stones songs ever. It's possibly the only guitar solo that can bring tears to my eyes. And Justin, you absolutely nailed it beyond belief!!!! Yes, Mick Taylor would love this (if he hasn't already seen it), and such a pleasure to watch your finger work up close. To my knowledge, , the band has never performed this song live.
Many thanks for your very kind words about my playing, Aaron! And yes, this is a really nice solo, which unfortunately was never played live by the Stones.
@@Justincelos One of the best solos ever, by anyone. Never played live, to this day. I believe Mick Taylor has done it live with his own band (will look tonight on RU-vid!). Strangely enough, when Taylor toured with them in 2013 ( he only did 2 songs a night with them), this was not one of them.
I won't lie, @@aaronsegal2819, it took me quite some time ti do it. First I had to listen to all the subtleties MT did in each track, which was not always easy (especially in the acoustic parts). Then I had to learn all the notes and also the fingering (I've seen several videos of this song in which people made the phrases using the 4th finger - instead of the 3rd -, which is not how MT normally plays. Finally, I had to memorize everything.
@@Justincelos That's was one of several things you showed in the video that I loved.... both the acoustic parts & electric. I'm no guitar player( 3 chords!!), but I've always been "'obsessed " with listening carefully to the parts of his solo that are kinda buried under the mix. There is another guy on RU-vid that attempts to do the very same song & solo....his name escapes me....he does well but nowhere near your version. There is one major difference, in my opinion: your passion shines through. You can feel it. It shows.
Wow, absolutely great. My favorite guitar work of all Stones songs. Always thought Mick was the best guitarist for them. Never got the recognition he deserved. I'm a drummer who always wished he could play guitar. I just couldn't seem to get my fingers to not be so stiff...lol Anyway, again, this is just fabulous. I wish I could play half as good as you!
Justin, recreating a masterpiece in your own style & groove.......gutsy but rekindling the original Mick version..... a warm and artful trip down memory lane.....thanks
This is believed to be the real reason Taylor left the Stones! I keep coming back to watch this video, it brings tears to me eyes watching it played so beautifully.
Interesting question, @@747heavyboeing3. It depends. In some cases, when the song is not highly complex, I can learn the basic stuff after listening to it once. But to learn all the nuances (for example, the regions of the neck where it was played, or which parts were picked or played with hammer ons and pull offs, or the intensity of the bendings and vibratos, etc), several listens are needed.
