Hi. I wanted to ask that the date of acknowledgement is the one which we get once our documents are processed by vfs or it is when the documents reach indian embassy. And also my documents are with indian embassy from 2nd February and till now it is showing that your file is under process. I applied for oci via vfs on 19dec and it has been a long time since i am waiting. Please explain me. Thanks

Your assessment is right. It takes about 5-6 weeks on average. Count from date of Indian embassy processing

Hi I would like to ask how long it takes for the MHA clearance time taken ? How long does the Minister of Home and Affairs takes to clearance for the OCI ?

If you records are clean and no criminal history etc. it doesnt take long. It follows the given prescribed timeline by MEA.

It has been 8 weeks since the embassy received the documents in San Francisco my date is April 14th when they acknowledge the docs and it is now June 13th almost 2 months and still shows under process. I dont know how long it will take this is ridiculous

I sent the application, got the date of acknowledgement, sent the envelope with required papers etc. Plus sent a return envelope with my address.. 3/4 weeks now but I have been asked for the total payment as yet by SMS or call. Is this normal. When will the payment in full be done? I am applying from France, can you please just tell me, if the wait is normal before they ask for payment.. I opted for payment through the phone. Thank you🙏

Even we are waiting for my wife’s OCI card. It’s taking long we applied Jan 26th. I don’t think it will come before your travel. Please apply for visa for this trip would be my advice.

Thank you so much for responding. I had another quick question. In document check list I see we need to send Parents visa for minor OCI. I am on F1 visa and wife is on F2. My visa expired on 06/2022. However I have maintained my F1 status by continuing with my classes. They mention for expired visa we can send I797 which is for H1 people. What can I do for my case. Logically I can just send my I20 and Transcript ti prove my status but there is no such mention on website. Any suggestions
