Beautiful watch. I love timex watches. The expedition scout watches are great field watches for those on a budget. The one thing I wish this particular watch had is a date window. Aside from that it's a beautiful time piece clearly inspired from the classic vietnam era field watches. I certainly can't conclude this comment without mentioning how great the indiglo function is and how perfectly it's activated using the push in crown. Great video 👍
Thank you so much! I enjoyed making the video. Yeah, wearing the watch today, definitely a keeper. I'm enjoying the watches simplicity and yet... special touches that make it uniquely a Timex!
Thank you so much Anson, I really appreciate the feedback. I very much enjoy doing these videos... so if you have any recommendations, please don't hesitate to let me know!
Thank you! Never been to the Philippines, but from everything I've seen, the beaches and shoreline is just absolutely amazing... and the food is ridiculously awesome too! I hope to go there soon. I've made it as far as Thailand and Vietnam, but never made it there... but it's on my bucket list!!! I would love to tour that factory when I'm out there too if they allow it.
Nice! That's awesome... yeah, I'm really impressed with how much I like this watch. For YEARS I was paying $20 bucks for some cheap garbage watch every 4-5 months, only realize I could have bought a classic-styled Timex with significantly better quality and more style. Love your icon / avatar also, haha!
Here's the Chronograph version, same colors, etc: www.amazon.com/Timex-Aluminum-Chronograph-Watch-TW2T10700/ for $66, and here's the the Bronze/Black version of the same watch in my video: www.amazon.com/Timex-MK1-40mm-Bronze-Black/dp/B08SWGNSW4/ for $81... just doesn't come with the NATO strap, so you'd need to find one. Hope that helps a little...
It's been a while, so to be honest I cannot remember if I used a press. I almost always use a press now though, the reason being is that the case back can get distorted when you use your fingers. Unless the case back is billet steel, most of them will end up being stamped. A stamped case-back can be easily distorted, either in the middle or to the side, which can affect water resistance. With a press, you're getting solid pressure all around the case back. They have hand presses now for $20 bucks with all the nylon dies.
@@ToddsWatchshop Yeah that makes perfect sense the only thing I’m concerned about is the massive acrylic crystal I just don’t want that cracking and they’re sure not much bezel on the dial to put a press but yeah I think I might buy one of those presses there about $20 on Amazon or do with the one guy on RU-vid does he use his Pill bottle caps and put it on the carpet and presses it down with his foot lol
Have you thought about maybe getting one of these, and then swapping out the straps with one you buy separately? Check on eBay... there's a few different versions of this model with different strap options from different vendors. You may find what you're looking for!
Hi Doc, I think there's a feature that allows me to set "time stamps" and video chapters... and I think I need to start doing that. Comment taken and received!
I have one of that mk1 in black..the lum is long lasting and..I like the vintage feel military watch..the acrylic crystal seem to have a purpose yes its not scratch resist..but I think its shatter proof..since its a field watch.all in all love it very comftable..durable!! I really like its dome acrylic crystal..
They seem to have gone up a little bit. I'm seeing them on eBay and Amazon for around $35-$50, depending on leather or canvas strap. They are definitely still making them though, it's a solid watch and very popular! They also have a chronograph one as well that I purchased, but have yet to actually review.
I have this watch. Love that 'Nam retro-future vibe. However, you' ve got to baby it cus of the painted case and acrylic crystal which makes it no fun.
Hey Duncan, is that your real name? I was going nuts thinking to myself... I know this name... I KNOW this name. And then it hit me... DUNE!!! There was a character on the original Dune movie with that name. But yeah... haha... the acrylic crystal is hilarious... I actually really enjoy that aspect of it. I think it makes it kind of fun. So hard to find watches like this today... and I kind of appreciate it!
I got the white faced one today but I’m glad I got the NATO strap with the two white stripes running the entire length, but it’s a NATO but it doesn’t have those metal holders it’s got a canvas holder which I prefer
I can't say I like Timex watches (I hate loud ticking) but I love Nautica watches which surprisingly are owned and manufactured by Timex and they are very very beautiful and well designed affordable pieces....
Hah, that's great! I literally just ordered two Nautica watches last week... I'll make sure to bump those up on the review schedule. Yeah, the loud ticking is really an acquired taste. it's like the sound 1600cc VW Beetle engine makes... some like it, some do not.
Hi! It's actually quite modest. Because it has the NATO strap, it sits wide on the wrist, so the total extreme end to end is 50mm. It's really not bad at all. the actual case is much smaller.
