I hate scratches - this is how I get a deep scratch completely removed in just 10 minutes (or less). All I use is the 3M Headlight Restoration kit and a hand drill - and that's it, even deep scratches can be fixed in a few minutes.

I will go through the complete routine without any gaps - start to finish! I do the job on both my BMW 650i and my BMW 840ci

Thanks Timm, I love the way you use the kinds of kit that most of us have hanging around, rather than expensive and scary rotary and DA polishers etc. I've never been brave enough to tackle the odd scratch on my E39; now I have no excuse not to have a go! My pleasure, try and remove it with Trizac pad first, it often works!

I use Zaino 2 afterwards - and then Zaino 8 to keep it shiny!

Hello I would like to ask, I watched the video and I didn't see you use any touch up paint. I have a black 2016 535i xdrive with a similar scratch and how do I get the white scratch out and the black color back? Very interesting how you did that...

Great video , are any of the items spoken of in video not part of the 3M kit . Thinking of tackling my g31 bumper I scratched quite badly last night leaving an underground car park :(

It's all part of the 3M kit - just take it easy with the coarser grades!

Hi Timm , managed to a couple of scratches and worked brilliant , did excess clear coat on one bit 😢, but will get that sorted from my spray guy. However a couple of sections I ended up with some slightly cloudy/ dull section around where I was polishing , do you think I have had the polishing on too high a speed and could this be rectified with trizac pad and polishing again with 3m at lower speed ? I was likely getting a bit excited .

Thank you for your reply. I mentioned this to my local body repair shop and they said anything under 1500 grit would lift the paint. Looking at the video, it appears that you can polish is back to shine?

@@sicktunechaser The plan is not to burn the clear-coat, let alone the base coat! Take it easy and just don't do it at all if you have doubts

The much safer option when the paint is actually gone is to use DrColorChip.com in Florida USA. For around $45 they provide your exact color and a fool-proof method for making nicks and scratches disappear.

I really don't like their plan at all - and it is quite hard work. Not only that but it removes quite a large area of finished layers of polish that protects the rest of the paintwork. For me, this is a much quicker and less destructive method!
