It’s not a remake, it’s a prequel to the children’s book, all three of these films are unrelated to one another, the only connection is the book their based on
He didn't say that he hated it. He said there were challenges. I'm glad they decided to do this as a prequel rather than a remake. The first one is still the best, and the second one follows the book closer but doesn't quite have the same magic as the first one. We'll have to wait and see where this one falls.
I mean to me the Burton film is way more magical - and that's, once again, because of childhood nostalgia. It's the same reason people still adore the first one so much, since apart from Wilder and the comedy, it hasn't aged that well
@@rockinresurrection6542 I have to agree. Some nice musical numbers, Gene and some other actor's charm and heart, and the comedy is what makes the movie a fun ride. But overall, yeah, it being labeled as "the only version that should be allowed to exist" is rather inaccurate.
1) Prequel, not remake 2) The Depp version is a retelling of the book, and by that I mean it's almost the entire book in movie form 3) The Depp version isn't a Remake of the Wilder version. One wasn't the book, One was. They aren't the same.
Watched Wonka and the 1971 movie back to back, and Timotheé Chalamet was NAILING so many of Gene Wilder's subtle mannerisms. His performance was BRILLIANT!
The first one (the og) is about willy wonka The second one (the johnny depp one) is about charlie The third (Timothee Chalamet) is about willy wonka before he was famous
They should have made a movie about charlie's experience running the factory already. I'm surprised they haven't and i wonder why that is. It should be whimsical but more realistic, like the first movie, and directed by baz lurman or tarantino, peoduced by the company that made "the greatest showman", or the most recent "alice in wonderland/through the looking glass" movies.
It is soooo amazing! We loved it. More music! New story! Overall a wonderful movie/ musical that I will watch many times. A family must and I’m sure a classic
Guess we cant make any new characters and stories so we got to keep recreating the originals ...am curious how this will turn out apart from being annoyed by this.
Why these idiots against wondering what came before the story of wonka factory they see in the oringial movie. If a Time Machine was involved they would like it. Don’t you think they know it would be hard to top the original and a red male had already been done. The story of the wonka factory can be enhanced and explained so much better and any true fan of original would be open to expanding there mind of how it came to be.
1. It is not a remake; it’s a prequel. (Tim’s wasn’t a remake either. It was an adaptation of the book) 2. Who wouldn’t get an upset stomach after eating candy? 3. There are people swimming in stuff worse than chocolate to live another day. The movie is FANTASTIC, wholesome and adorable. Timothee and the whole cast did an outstanding job. I wish I could’ve been at the first showing to do a standing ovation.
What is up with all these remakes? Are people done with being creative and just want to make quick money instead? I just don’t understand… the original is just fine! We can all watch the OG and be satisfied.
I agree its not about being mad.. its just a waste of time, knowing he wasnt even into it makes this worse. Originality exists, its just producers are too SCARED to offend someone 🙄 I want a Turok movie........but how they can make the game, but not a movie without offending sombody in 2023
Charlie and the chocolate factory was not a remake of the 1971 film. Instead, it was a re-adaptation of the book of the same name written by Roald Dahl.
I thought it was a beautiful movie Willy wonka has always been a comfort movie for me the gene wilder version and I loved the Johnny depp version but it was so brutally beautiful he misses his mom and he’s so tragically innocent and the ending had me legitimately tearing up even the fact he never learned how to read and always relied on strangers for help proves how tragically wholesome he is I thought it was amazing and I truly loved chalamets acting loved him in dune reading the books now but yea holy shit great prequel 😊
Who the hell is complaining about authentic practical effects in a movie? If they’re not in the production team then shut up and enjoy how real the chocolate looks.
I wish this movie would get a sequal but who knows we didn't get any sequels we got reboots and prequels but they all are good but i hope Wonka Get s a sequel
I hate how you will watch a show and really love it and then hear the actor hated filming it. Kinda puts a damper on it. Like it makes the show better knowing the actors had fun. Same thing with twilight. Liked twilight but made me sad the guy that played Edward Cullen can't stand it. 😢
In the trailer, it doesn't look like he's feeling it. He has the face and figure for the role but they hired a type B to carry out a very type A role. I would rightfully be miserable doing that role because I am also a type B (introverted). But Hugh Grant as an oompa loompa... haha. Hilarious.
This version is, dare I say A Lot more beautiful than the original. I laughed and cried and was completely taken watching it w my newly minted 4 year old 💕
Here is how I think the Willy wonka movies in order ( I’m probably wrong but it’s just an idea so please don’t call me out or anything because that will embarrass me ) btw SPOILERS for the Johnny Depp one bc I watched it the other day and SPOILERS for the 1971 adaptation because it is pretty much the same thing Wonka ( 2023 ) Willy Wonka ( Timothee Chalamet ) Opens up his first chocolate shop. ( I haven’t watched this yet so that is why there are so little description so sorry bout that ) Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory ( 1971 ) Willy Wonka ( Gene Wilder ) Invites the first batch of kids who find golden tickets in his famous chocolate bars, Wonka Bars. Eventually he trys to give one of them the factory because he thinking about retiring. the kid refuses so they can live with their family, but in the end, Wonka decides to keep making chocolate bars and candy. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ( 2005 ) Willy Wonka ( Johnny Depp ) Has run out of ideas for making candy, and all of the Oompa Loompas quit on him because they were tired of working constantly. So in a search of new flavors, he found new Oompa Loompas. He promised them Cocoa Beans, which were very valuable to the Oompa Loompas, and they accepted the offer. Now Wonka sent out 5 more golden tickets, and Kids found them across the world. The kids went to his factory, and his animatronics made an intro, but caught on fire. He came out with his famous line that references a song, “ GoOd MoRnInG sTaRsHiNe, ThE eArTh SaYs HeLLo “ This is getting long so basically then the tour started and the kids got into trouble, and the Oompa Loompas sang songs calling them out for there misbehavior. In the end, a kid won the chocolate factory, and Wonka offered them the chance to live with him at the chocolate factory. The kid refused to live with him, and Wonka decided to live with them or go back to the factory ( I’m not sure but if you know then tell me pls ) I worked so hard and I’m not trying to beg for likes here so bye 👋
I watched it, and it's a pretty good movie for kids. Dumb enough for kids to understand but not too dumb to be unwatchable. If I was 8, it would be my favorite film. A solid 7.5/10
On the way to the theaters for this movie we could have died We were driving in snow after my dad promised to buy a winter deck but he didnt. So we had to drive in pure snow and park on the roof of the theater because on ground its 2 hours only. We had to beg to Allah (im muslim) on our way down (we were testing the ramp and hope we could go down) we braked every second and survived and idk if its REALLY that dangerous to drive in snow but atleast we made it home
I don’t care if it’s a prequel, I don’t care if it’s a remake, and I don’t care if it’s a sequel. All big movie companies are not using original ideas anymore. Instead, they are mooching off their past successes hoping that they’ll do good.
