I think pipes are like fountain pens, in a way. They can be collected for their beauty. My Dad went throught phases of being a pipe smoker and it seemed to me that he enjoyed the ritual of filling the pipe and tamping down the tobacco and getting it lit, as much as the actual smoking. Even as a child, I thought they were beautiful, with the wood grain bowls and graceful stems. I don't know what became of them. I wish I had one of his pipes.

Those factory smokes aren't bad while out fishing or riding the tractor cutting grass. That pipe of your dad's is beautiful!

I have tried pipes on and off. Not bad but too much maintenance.
