Well Maya’s parents were musicians-her mother being the late great Minnie Riperton who could hit octaves higher than anybody and both Minnie and her dad Richard Rudolph were in band called Rotary Connection. The Apple didn’t fall far....just uses it for comedy.

And btw I just remembered Maya did sing a bit professionally before joining SNL with ex-Weezer Matt Sharp’s band The Rentals. She sung backing on their tours between 95-99 and was also featured on their second album “seven more minutes”.

Disagree, if anything they’d need Rachel Dratch. These women were together during some of the best SNL moments. I love Kristen but she came later.

Probably time and obligations. Not enough time to write a whole Oscars-show that works. Other obligations these comedians already had.

Making scripts for these things is very time consuming, so I imagine none of them was up for it.
