As someone who deals with tinnitus, I'm very happy to learn, that there's something going on bout the T. I thought it was marginalized and no one gave a dang. Suddenly this guys happens on TEDx Talks. Thank you so much. I hope they will find the cure.

Agree x100! It's so isolating having tinnitus. I remember the night I realised I had it and would probably have it forever - I just remember thinking, 'I'll never have silence again' and cried. I deal with it okay most of the time now but, like most/all tinnitus sufferers (probably), I get brain fog and have hearing loss too. I hope we get a cure one day :)

I still remember that first night and the nights after.. Realising you have something that has no cure makes you feel worse.. Let's hope we will soon get a relief from this .. Only people who suffer can understand how awful it is.. Good luck to scientists and us all!

Same for me, a high pitched ringing. Its just in my left ear. I can block it out pretty well when I'm outside or just interacting with people, which is why I don't really like to be alone anymore. Being alone are the times that it gets the loudest, because I cant find a good distraction. I've only had it for 3 months now, even though I deal with it pretty well I hope it gets easier over time.

Jack Attack, I agree! You've said what I try to convey to people, that this is a PERCEPTION problem. Generally, those who suffer the most from it are people who are obsessively focusing on it, listening for the sounds, and that is what causes it, or at least worsens it to a great extent. Find distractions, stay busy with things that you enjoy, things you love. In the beginning weeks and months I was regularly upset about it. I was mad, sad, and worried about it. I did research about nutritional supplements, saw all the doctors, had hearing checked out, had hormone levels checked (my tinnitus is related to hormone imbalance and menopause). But as time went on I got pissed off enough that I decided to take my normal life back, and slowly over the following months, I got it back. I've come to see that for most people, it is related to IMBALANCE in all areas of my life; and to poor sleep, too much stress and worry, and to feeling depressed, angry, or sad too often. When I started to have that understanding, when I went to bed and heard it, I was like "Meh, big deal, f- off" and just kept happy thoughts in the forefront of my mind, thought of scenes from my favorite movies, or my cats little furry faces, or the faces of people I loved, or some comedy sketches that always make me laugh, and I let myself be soothed by these positive thought-distractions. Then I dropped off to sleep more easily. It's been easier and easier since then. :)

George Kehaya, Yeah, I agree with you. Barbara Steisand and Steve Martin have also had it. It has not dampened their success or enjoyment of life either. I think one of the problems is when people feel it as a bad thing, as a punishment, or a sickness, etc, when it doesn't have to feel that way at all. In most cases (yes, I know there are exceptions), but for most people there is NOTHING WRONG in their body. There is NO problem. It is an offshoot of anxiety or stress, or anger, and general imbalance in a person's life. They have to approach the curing of it or the managing of it from many angles: Massage Therapy Cranio Sacral Adjustments Overall stress-management in one's life, which could mean changes to relationships and jobs or careers SLEEP, getting better sleep, more sleep, including sleep positioning (some peoples' tinnitus is actually caused by using the wrong pillow!) Some dietary changes ; it couldn't hurt to cut way back on processed foods, sugar, salt, caffeine, alcohol, smoking EXERCISE, not necessarily more, but better exercise, more relaxing (swimming, yoga, bike riding) It's when people keep their lifestyle basically the same, with little or no change, and stay in horrible jobs, relationships, get horrible sleep, take too many medications, smoke, drink, eat fast foods, watch too much TV, sit too much in front of the computer, don't get outside for fresh air or enough exercise that they then complain that tinnitus is wrecking their life. Maybe it is not the tinnitus doing it, but the fact that they are not approaching overall lifestyle changes to improve their quality of life.

George Kehaya it's weird isn't it. People take their peaceful silence for granted. I've had it for five years, I tune it out and have listened to a lot of binaurals, Hypnotic videos etc. I'm so used to it that even when it gets louder I just lie there hearing it and eventually fall asleep. Safe to say listening to all the material I have helps a lot. They have a few tinnitus sufferers hypnotics to listen to. Always get those.. they are in app form as well. Since it is a "hallucination" it makes sense hypnosis would be the best way to go.. that and acupuncture.

I’ve been dealing with tinnitus for 17 years now. Three times I have woken up without the ringing hissing...they were after surgery’s and colonoscopy. The ringing however, returns as the propofol wore off. Yes, propofol cures my 17 year battle. Think about it. I awoke from a prostatectomy for prostate cancer and was elated that I was experiencing QUIET .. ok, the surgery went well and I am cancer free but I was thrilled about QUIETNESS.. then the general anesthetic wore off in a few hours and it was back to my normal myriad of noises in my ears. The 3rd occasion was back surgery.. same thing there.. tinnitus gone completely for a few hours.

In meditation I've found that I can calm down that noise just like calming any agitated thoughts by using the breath which absorbs the agitated thoughts and noise like catching a cricket ball where you go in the direction of the ball to absorb it's momentum and energy then you slowly release it's energy bit by bit which desolves it's energy bit by bit, or it's like capturing it's energy in a bubble of air or breath then you're able to control that bubble by deflatting it until the energy dissapates, when people have obsessive thoughts they always try to control their thoughts with other thoughts but it gets worse because you can't control your thoughts but you can control the breath and its the breath which will control and calm down your thoughts, and once your breath is calm you'll feel calm and at peace, and the agitation of tinnitus is just another agitation so when you don't react to it it starts to calm down as well.

I’ve had it for 10 years since getting a bad case of Lyme Disease. It’s awful always having this “noise” in my head. I’m dealing with it best I can at this point. I also have hypercussis also from Lyme. I hear background noises and far away sounds (like a bionic ear👂) sometimes better than when someone in close proximity speaks to me. I also get startled a lot when someone comes up behind me, even in a store, because usually I don’t hear them approaching and suddenly they are in my space or passing by.

I did not, because they didn't diagnose until 8 months after symptoms, and then I got pregnant, and other reasons. I was born deaf in one ear and only 65% in the other. As I got older I lost my hearing down to 7% . The noise was getting loud. Then I got the cochlear implant and was told that the noise would go away. No that didn't happen. It got worse. I drown it out at times with music. But now I reconise it as frequencies. It will shift and change with my body. I am starting to use it to my advantage. It helps me to understand what my spirit is doing. I believe highly spiritual people will have over active noise. We think it's noise because we don't understand it. Just a thought

My situation is different as I have lost the hearing in both ears over time but now have a cochlear implant in one. I have slight ? tinnitus. I can hear a low sound like wind when I take my processor off and sometimes a distant sound of speech but neither bothersome and, unlike others I can enjoy complete silence when it suits me. Before the implant I had what would call an ear worm... Repeated music and choir singing, I did learn how to control it by concentrating on it at the end of the song. But now I have no tinnitus as such

That’s cool, I’ve always thought that maybe it was there because I am tuning into the universe or tuning in to my body. But I try to pick out the tones that I hear which are several at once. Right now I am trying to notice if the tones change. It’s hard to tell because I just tune it out most of the time. I get occasional tinitis that sounds like scratching or distortion. My inner ear will feel like there are bugs creeping around in my ear canal so it’s kind of creepy. it has to be really loud but sometimes it’s a note on a song and it doesn’t matter how loud it is, it just starts scratching on a certain note.

For ALL you people suffering from this, yes myself also. My studies in sound reproduction taught me this; find the exact frequency you're 'hearing'. Buy yourself a program on the internet, that allows an accurate sweep from 20-20,000 khz. It's HIGHLY unlikely you can reach the upper or perhaps lower, but nevertheless don'tcha worry. You'll require decent sound reproduction, so don't use junk supermarket earphones. Mid-upper echelon of audio technica/ koss,/ etymotic etc will suit. Planar, or electrostatic even better for higher frequencies. If you have a decent soundcard, fair enough, feed it to a half decent amplifier, then to head ( ear ) phones. Then relax, and I MEAN relax! Have silence all around, and slowly, VERY slowly sweep up through the auditory frequency spectrum. When you either limit, or cannot hear any sound- that's what you need to record. Myself, ( one ear), it starts at 3850 yet finished at 5160 khz. The other ear is different. Amplitude, can be adjusted normally. No more than is needed mind. When you have everything correct, your tinitus will stop or, be severely limited. Chuck it on a half decent MP3 player, pref at 320kbps. Then, just relax and listen. Equal sound frequencies, cancel each other out. No guarantee I offer, but it worked for me. ........take your time.........

I've been dealing with tinnitus for almost a year and half. It appeared suddenly, after a nap, I was dealing with a lot of stress at that time. Most times I don't pay attention to the sound, and in good days I can just ignore it when I go to sleep. But sometimes, out of nothing, the sound gets louder. I try to calm myself, and then it gets better. Mine is likely due to a jaw problem, and stress, but the doctors didn't point to one specific cause. But I remember when I visited the doctor specialist and he said that I had to undergo a hearing exam... How scary that was. He couldn't rule out the probability that I was MAYBE losing my hearing. It was a terrible experience.

There is a connection between the ringing and oxygen I think. His is intermittent depending on his stress level. Stress changes oxygen levels in the body. Buteyko breathing and meditation brings mine down almost to nothing. Hair cell damage might be an exception, but a lot of tissue or cell loss has to do with oxygen. What else reduces oxygen? Insulin issues. Overweight.

My tinnitus started three years ago after I went to a very loud karaoke bar. I knew that it was caused by an absence of input from some of my cilia, but had never heard about the role of dopamine and serotonin. I don't feel in any way depressed or stressed, so it's odd to think that my dopamine could be low. I've gotten used to the constant low feedback sound and never notice it except when it is very quiet, especially when I lie down to sleep. It doesn't bother me any more except when it temporarily changes to a high pitched squeal; that scares me. I just realized as I was watching this video that I hadn't perceived my tinnitus for many days or weeks. I don't think it was gone, but I just stopped paying attention. It is still there, but I'm glad I was able to ignore it for so long. I hope one day there will be a cure.

I'm 71 and I have had tinnitus since 1974. it has grown worse over the years. In my case, it's a very high pitch in both ears. It is very loud. My ears have become very sensitive to abrupt sounds, but I don't let it get me down. I ignore it the best I can, but that is requiring a lot of determination these days. It sometimes gets to me and I languish for a while wishing the ringing would stop, trying to imagine what silence is like. The funny thing is that I have played harmonica since I was ten and still love to play. I still have good pitch, too. I usually avoid watching videos on tinnitus because they end up offering fake cures that require a subscription, etc. This is the first time I see something that makes sense (I am a retired DC). So I didn't, and hearing it hasn't bothered me at all for the last 75/76 years! (Edit to add) I spent 23 years working in an engine laboratory, where I had tests carried out on my ears, to the highest standards, twice a year. I would enter the soundproof cell, where the only sound I could hear was the tinnitus, until the test started, when, at very low levels, sounds very similar to the sound of the tinnitus were played through the headphones. The sounds were so quiet that I found that unless I breathed through my wide-open moth, the noise of my breath would drown them. Despite this, my hearing was always found to be the most sensitive of any in the laboratory.

Jerry Wiese Attention!! I suffered this for a few months and still have minor minor problems with it but I CURED about 99% of it! I did a lot of the things everyone suggested, these videos, hairdryer to the ear canals on low, nerve massages, etc. What I truly believe worked for me was LIONS MANE mushrooms. Please look into them if you suffer tinnitus. I believe that all these other techniques helped but the true silver bullet was lions mane. It’s legal and sold in most Asian supermarkets. I got mine in pill form from a company called Host Defense but I think any organic source will work. Lions mane has been shown to regrow nerve endings and repair the nervous system and neurons in the brain. Do some research and try it!

It's the first sound that I hear when I wake up and it's the last sound I hear when I drift off to sleep... and it follows me around all day. I can hear people just fine when they face me when they're talking, but if they're some distance away, speaking more quietly or not facing me I can always hear that they are talking, but it often makes it difficult to clearly hear their words. And, when I'm in a more noisy environment, like a restaurant, it just seems to get louder and complicate conversations. It's really hard to explain this to the people who are closest to me because they think I'm losing my hearing and keep pushing me to get hearing aids, but they don't understand it's not that I can't hear, it's that I constantly hear something I don't want to hear that makes it harder to hear the things I really want to hear. This is the first time I've had the opportunity to share comments with people who understand what I've been experiencing for more than forty years. Thanks for "listening."

There was a 60hz/400hz AC/DC motor generator non-interruptible power set beneath the floor decking in the underground launch control center and we would spend three shifts down there during a 40-hour alert tour. It was not loud, maybe about as loud as a moderately crowded restaurant, but it was a constant kind of whine that you couldn't shut out. Background noise is the worst when it comes to understanding people talking. As you mentioned, background chatter in a place like a restaurant is bad, I personally also have problems with running water. If someone is running water in a sink and talks to me it just sounds like incomprehensible garble. I started suffering from tinnitus in my early 30's. At first, strangely, I just had bouts of it and it was intermittent. Now it is constant, and for me it sounds like the first sound sample in this video, except higher pitched. The best way I can explain it is if you turn in a tv or computer monitor with no signal and you hear a high pitched hum.

But of course, it never did and I am now 64, have had it all my life. There's an app that I play with sometimes and my frequency seems to be around 9100 Hz, super high-pitched. The odd thing is that playing that frequency will quiet my tinnitus for a few short moments. It's not supposed to work that way, but who knows what my brain is doing.

sounds bad man i too hope they find a cure. i dont really know what caused my T, it just started. may actually have been my friends dog barking. i hope not, because that will mean it was noice induced. my ear was also ear wax blocked at the time, so im very hopeful that was the cause, so there is a reasonable chance it will pass. if it was the earwax, then it should pass between 6weeks to 3 months. could of course vary. im on week 5 now, and i have felt minor reductions and many changes along the way. frequency, intensity, volume all change constantly. but it hasnt become completely quiet yet. i actually wish Bill Gates would get T, so he would invest billions in a cure. think he would probabily use 40 billion if he had to (out of about 80 billion), know i would.
@Grays_Plays
@Grays_Plays 7 лет назад
Hi there. I'm just writing because my tinnitus is a lot like yours. It came out of nowhere with no noise induced cause, and it also varies a lot. The sound can change, the intensity, the volume, even the pitch. I have however, drastically reduced my tinnitus from almost suicidal levels that I was suffering only a few months ago, and it's at the point now where, though it still varies, when it is at it's quietest, I barely notice it at all through the day, and it's quiet enough at night that it doesn't bother me at all during sleep. When it's at it's loudest, it only just barely irritates me, because I know that it will be quieter before long, and that over time, it will get even quieter. My tinnitus seems to be following a pattern of spike, drop, spike a little less loud, then drop even lower than the previous low, and I am certain that one day I will have silence again. It may take years, but the fact that it can be improved at all has taken away the fear this ailment had paralysed me with. My advice to anyone reading this comment is to check out Julian Cowan Hill's videos on tinnitus, or even check out mine to hear my experience, (but you're better off checking out Julian's.) Tinnitus doesn't have a "Cure", in the sense that there is no pill or surgery for it, and in my opinion there never will be a cure like that because tinnitus is fundamentally a dysfunction of the nervous system, and that's affected by everything from your thoughts and feelings, to everything you perceive going on in your environment, big and small. No amount of money or research will ever fix the fact that, in my opinion at least, doctors are looking at it the wrong way. Tinnitus can however be eliminated, or at the very least reduced, so please check out Julian's channel. Anyway, sorry for the massive wall of text, but I really have improved my tinnitus and gotten my life back, and I desperately want to share that with other sufferers, because I was almost getting to the point where if I didn't have people in my life that would of been affected by my passing, I would of wished for death, and no one should have to go through with that, not when the problem is actually quite a simple one, though by no means is tinnitus 'easy' to cure. Thank you for reading, and I really hope this helps.

hey man, thanks for reply. hope i dont have it for months or years. its not very loud at the moment, usually loudest in the morning, and then gets lower after a shower. i think mine was induced by a combination of stress/depression and earwax blockage. hopefully, it was only the earwax. i also have had a stuffed nose for the entire duration of this, so hopefully, when summer comes the stuffed nose will go away, and parhaps the tinnitus. mine is very wierd. it went from a low ringing, to a loud one, then changed pitch, then it was like 3 or 4 sounds at the same time. one ringing, one hissing, one that sounds like someone scraping their nails on a board, and one sounding like a angle grinder that is not in contact with anything, just turned on, and turned off, but still spinning down. now its mostly just the angle grinder. i also have this very wierd thing going on randomly in my ear. i can feel it, like something is happening. its like someone is pulling a trigger, a flesh trigger per se, and i can hear it a little. a couple of weeks ago it happened like 30 times in a row, and the sound was gone. then it sneaked back, so im sure its some form of body function trying to cure me. hope it is. anyways, it it is earwax cause/cold and stuffed nose, im hopeful it will pass within a couple of months. but this fking symptom can last however long it feels like.... imma check out the julian video, see if it helps. ty man. hope yours go away too.

Trolleylol, Have you had your hearing checked, and blood tests and all that, to rule out certain causes? Did you see an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor? When they get physical therapy and massage from a highly skilled practitioner (don't just go to some bozo, in other words), their tinnitus lessens or goes away altogether.
@Luna_and_Miles

Gray, That's fantastic! This is encouraging to read. I also see it as a kind of "perception" problem; problematic to people because of how they perceive it. If they perceive it with dread or anger or annoyance it is a problem, but if they are curious about it, unbothered by it like a monk resting in meditation, it ceases to be a problem. So it increases in direct relation to the degree that it's perceived as something bad, that has to be resisted. One of the many "tools" I have devised for myself is reminding myself that my body knows what it is doing; I will say that to myself: "trust the body, the body is not an idiot, it knows what it is doing, it is just trying to find balance." Everyone has to find their own way to feeling better, but I'm so glad when people like you share your positive outlook and experience.

I was 9 months pregnant when I woke up on my 30th birthday with tinnitus and Bell's Palsy. My doctor said that he'd never seen anyone with that disorder that late in pregnancy. I wasn't permitted to take time off without pay from my 2nd grade teaching position, so I had to teach 30 seven-year-olds after having sleep interruptions to get up and feed my newborn. The students were so loud during the day that the sounds were camouflaged, but I never experienced quiet over the two years I dealt with it. I heard whistling, someone blowing in my ear, geese honking, and other sounds and it was driving me mad, but when I was pregnant with my second baby and caught a bad head cold, the sounds slowly went away as I recovered from the virus. I am now 73 and it never came back. I have so much empathy for those who are suffering with it because I completely understand how life-changing it is. The only thing that kept me from considering suicide was my little baby. I truly wish they would find something that could help (other than listening to the static between radio stations--what I was told to listen to so I could fall asleep).

Hearing aides can help, small earbuds that link to your smart phone have been effective for some. Also vitamins have been known to help, B12, melatonin, zinc, biotin, magnesium. Please see a doctor before taking the vitamins, also counseling ........but please keep looking for answers they are out there.....you must believe. One last thing sleeping on your back with a pillow designed for sleeping on your back and side, with your head slightly elevated with a fan running or a sound machine helps to sleep at night....you could take the magnesium an hour or two before bed time to help relax the central nervous system. Last month I have a tinnitus, which makes me worried about my future and self, this ringing brought me anxiety. Later then I ask God to help me out, I read Bible and the driven life purpose book that helped me a lot to connect with God finding my true purpose. After days and weeks that has passed I learned to don't be bothered by this ringings and live my life according to God's purpose....And yesterday a miracle happened, God granted my prayers He allowed my tinnitus to heal, like I can't explain how it happened, like just suddenly! And for that I am very thankful to God, not just for healing my tinnitus but also for transforming me into a new person. God is so good, He just need to see our faith, He works in disguise, things are not always impromptu, God needs our patience.

I had the high pitch siren in my grade 11 and grade 12 year. I had to sit up front so I could lip read the teacher. Things that helped me was keeping my ear canals dry. I had an ear specialist tell me I had very small ear canals. He recommended I put a drop of olive oil in the ears and roll it down while jiggling my ear lobe. He told me to do this every night. Then each morning after my shower follow it with a drop of vinegar. By the time I was in college I no longer suffered from it. For almost 2 years it was constant. So nice that God answered my prayer. It stopped never to return.

I had it early on from a childhood ear infection in one ear. When in high school had another kid blast a high pressured balloon pop next to the other ear, the ringing is unbearable at times. There is nothing one can do for it to go away. Also, I think it has to do with genes for some people to experience it more than others. My grandmother had tinnitus. Noise cancellation helps some, but I am not ready for that yet. But I admit, tinnitus drives you mad... at times it feels as running engines oven metal tracks, and an entire forest with cicadas and crickets. I work for the veterans and I understand their tinnitus problem.

Russell Rajani Right, bc all that money had cured cancer?
@binra3788
@binra3788 6 лет назад
The billions spent on cancer research is a reason to ensure cancer research never ends. When you see the term 'War on 'whatever'' in the gov or media, it works the opposite of what it seems. As does a lot else. A negative economy runs on keeping fear of scarcity, sickness and war as a means of gaining control over. The more something is hated and feared the bigger it becomes and the more energy expended on it, that fuels the reaction as an identity. Perhaps the identity in reaction is a defence against a Silence of a different order. Not an auditory silence but awareness itself. A self-referencing of thinking, sensing differentiation finds 'support' in its world, but in a sense absolutely exposed as 'thing-in-itself' to be 'nothing' in search of becoming. Which is an example of the fear of not existing, in confusion of self in image or thought - which is a sense of limit and division on the process of unfolding experience that awareness embraces or beholds. So I see getting rid of what does not support my self-image and world-view, as the means to reinforce it - while passing as a cover story of being unfairly treated - by which to justify my reactions. As some on these comments have indicated, being with what is - as it is - as an expression of embrace and acceptance in gratitude for being, is potentially within or beneath the reactive conflicted restlessness. But my experience is the this is a shift from 'doing' or manipulating outcomes, to letting or yielding of reaction unto an embracing quality of being that has to be felt to be known. Acceptance of what is - as it is - remains open to that everything changes and so is not passively resigned in loss or lack, but nor is it focused in a sense of lack as the basis that everything else has to then fail to remedy in substitution for life with 'sickness management Inc'. If there was a cure for cancer it would be invalidated, hidden, suppressed, smeared and discredited. In fact there is a long history of this already. But the release and freedom from a feared or conflicted sense of self and outcome is not only an external intervention to an externalised 'cause'. And having such events in our lives may serve to attune our focus of awareness in ways that otherwise we would not and thus open qualities of living that move us and move through us instead of a mapped out sense of fixed definitions that make dissonance of mind and heart. Uncovering core beliefs and definitions that have no real belonging in who you are is the freedom of their release. But as irritant, the world becomes something to get rid of, beat into submission or bury under diversionary fantasies of power that require constant renewal - like funding an addiction. But what is there but that (your) thinking makes its so? 'Don't know mind' is the silence into which life moves whole - as we are willing and ready to recognize and accept. When we think to already know, life cannot come in anew.

Very interesting to read other people's experience. I suffer from a high-pitched tinnitus 24 hours a day. I have learned to live with it. When I am seeking quiet time is when I notice it the most. It has impacted my life in that; I have to look directly at the person speaking and do some lip-reading if there are background sounds. If a person is speaking to me quietly and not enunciating their words; it just sounds like a mumble. I have found that in group settings, I tend to not engage in the conversation much anymore. I am now the quiet listener because I miss a lot of what is going on in the group conversation. Sad because I enjoy conversing with others so much.

My tinnitus was caused by a loud explosion. There was also some hearing loss. It was still there after 8 years (and still VERY annoying). I was told by a top neurologist it would never go away (having had it that long). But during that time I had made significant changes to my diet and lifestyle habits, and after ten years it was gone. I was tested to verify that it was actually gone (and not just my imagination). It was, and my hearing loss had improved. So when tinnitus is caused by acoustic trauma to the ear, the body can heal it, it just needs the resources (and it must first finish dealing with more serious issues that you may not even be aware of, then it can turn its attention to something like tinnitus). So, yes, for some types of tinnitus, there is a cure.

Eating and living in a healthy way can allow the body to heal it. But the body will work on the more serious things first... things you may not even be aware of. And then it will turn its attention to the non-serious things like tinnitus. So it won't happen overnight, but it could happen.

If you are watching this video and reading the comments, it means you already have the idea of what tinnitus is and you have also probably Googled it, and somewhere on your way you have reached here. I'd also assume that you are already suffering from it right now and maybe found out that it isn't normal and you think you should go see a doctor. Now after watching this talk you might think that there's is no cure, and there's no hope for now? That even after a long time, if your tinnitus hasn't gone away, maybe you just have to live with it? Hearing loss? I'd like you to stop your thoughts right there before it spirals down the path of feeling helpless and numb and anxious, to say the least. Yes, the risks are a possibility, permanent damages may be devastating mentally more so than just physically. You might have already glanced at some comments about people's own personal experiences of depression and and other darkest thoughts due to tinnitus. I'd like to gently remind you the one golden rule of internet- "DO NOT LOOK UP SYMPTOMS AND DISEASES ON GOOGLE (also anywhere else on internet)" One thing you should keep in mind from this talk, the key takeaway, if nothing else, should be the simple statistic that tinnitus is a common problem, and among those who HAVE it, just a small % actually has serious problems. 1:30 Please take a moment to breathe first and assess your own perspective and your own problems. YOUR very own kind of tinnitus, maybe, is causing the problems YOU are actually having now. I'd also like to remind that there may exist no CURE (at the time of this video) but there are TREATMENTS, which will vary depending on your own particular case. 1:45 Based on those facts only, keep in mind that it's not too late, it's never too late (I'm assuming). Do this first: 1. Remove all the LOUD & LONG-TERM (or continuous) noise sources from your life, as soon as you can manage 2. If you can not do that, consider wearing protection. You do wear sunglasses to protect your eyes right? Treat your hearing the same please 3. Even if you manage to do this above, don't waste time, fix an appointment to your "nearest ENT specialist". Just search that phrase in quotes in your maps application and call them whenever you get the chance. Tell them you think you might have tinnitus, describe your noise type (frequency, pitch, is it like hissing or ringing? Is it continuous? Do mention the reason you think you might have your tinnitus) Ask your ENT specialist if you'll be needing an appointment, an then carry on the conversation accordingly. Lastly, remember another golden rule of internet- don't take any Internet stranger's words without thinking about it. Including me. Consult only your ENT doctor firsthand, get clear directions on what to do next. Do not discuss with friends or family if they have a tendency to worry about you and get more anxiety. Anxiety is infectious. Talk with a professional, assure what to do next very clearly, ensure the treatment and preventions, then discuss with others. I'm saying all this from my own personal (that is, anecdotal) experience

I just do my best to try very hard to concentrate and I can discern the examination tones from the tinnitus and I have scored very well for a guy my age every year. I have also learned to listen to others when they talk to me in a noisy environment and I don't have to ask them to repeat themselves as often. With a little bit of personal effort, we can adapt and minimize the effect of this minor handicap.

I am glad you have made peace with your tinnitus. I have as well, had it since I can remember, since maybe 5-6. Thankfully it never elicited an emotional response. I live with it, and often go for weeks or months without actively noticing it. My suggestion for people suffering is to maybe practice mindfulness.
@Mevlinous
@Mevlinous 5 лет назад
sebaswildboy like a voice in your head, it won’t go away if you actively want it to. However, also like the voice in your head, there are times when you are distracted enough that you forget about it, and it essentially is not there anymore. Technically it probably is, but, if you don’t notice it, it may as well not be. If your reaction to your tinnitus is negative, it will obviously become more of an issue, like when you scratch a mosquito bite, your immune system creates a reaction, well your emotions are similar. If you can find a way to not react, and don’t try not to hear it, but to simply observe its presence, and then continue to observe other sensations and sounds both inside and out. It will then become simply another sensation which you are accustomed to. I can’t guarantee this will work, but keep an open mind and you might just have a breakthrough. The key is, don’t try too hard, just let whatever happens happen.

got treated from titanius. First clean both the ear , take few steroids from doctor good for ear infection . Then i took proponol medicine as suggested by doctor for getting relief from anxiety and stress for 3 week . Slowly it took 1 year to get rid of titanius . Together with I have started to ignore titanius sound , similarly like our heart beats , clock do tick tick , If we learn to ignore together with medicine and deep sleep for 8 hour with little physical walk or exercise 2 months . Titinus will get remove . In case this sound has still disturbing you , try to listen to few nice mantra like ganesh chalisa , gayatri mantra , hanuman chalisa before sleeping for 30 min or more . So that your subconscious mind forgot about the titinus sound and start absorbing sound of good vibrational mantra . All together if anyone follow this they can get rid of titinus within 2 month also. I was not not knowing the solution , so it took more time . Never loose hope . I'm 40 years old, I've had this for as long as I can remember. I have major hearing loss among other problems with my ears alone. It's easy to get swept up in that depression, especially when it's invisible to everyone else. Don't let this get you, it's always gonna be there but you don't have to let it control you. Outside stimulus plays a big role, along with what he'd said about stress. I wear earplugs a lot, find quiet time to keep my sanity. If nothing else it filters the extra out. I keep myself busy a lot and leads my concentration away from the ringing. You just gotta find your own way to deal with it and be able to train yourself to filter that noise out to decipher real external sounds. I have to read lips a lot while trying to keep along with unfamiliar voices. Find your trick, and don't let it trick you!

I have had tinnitus or ringing in the ears for many years and I find that if I think about something that interests me and not the sound that you hear, the tinnitus seems to quiet down a bit. I think it is important not to listen or to think about it to much because then it seems to get louder and louder and that can drive a person nuts. Another helpful thing to do is listen to a sound or music that you like, this is very helpful to me when I am alone with no other sounds in the room which seems to make the tinnitus very loud. I also find that when I am reading something interesting I don't seem to hear it at all. I think it is because when my mind is busy reading it can't focus as much on the ringing ear sound. Whatever you do, try not to focus on the tinnitus sound because it seems that the longer you listen to it, the louder it gets. Good luck.
