I LOVE how you describe the scents so specifically! Scent is a major factor I consider before purchasing a product. I usually opt for fragrance free because I don’t like overly sweet scents, and certain ingredients like lavender oil and vanillin give me a really bad rash :( Also your detailed descriptions of the product textures are very helpful as well. I hope you have a wonderful week
Thank you Jinyun! I'm glad the scent information was helpful. One of the benefits of picking a more specific video focus like this is having more time to go into detail ☺️👍 x
I don't own many clear lip oils unfortunately, but they might come up if I do a Liquid Lip Balm edition in future Andrea! 👍 All of these do have 'skincare ingredients' and nourishing oils in them, but I personally prefer to stick to clear lip balms when I really want something repairing.. tints can get too messy in those times! You can find my favourite balms in an old video x
I own a lip oil of every brand showcased but Dior, still waiting for Mahogany to come back in stock. You did an excellent job at describing every one of them, as always! ❤️
I recently purchased Mahogany to try as my first Dior oil, and was left quite disappointed 😞 I didn’t expect it to be quite so sticky and gloopy, it’s like it doesn’t even have the texture of an oil. and I don’t enjoy the scent either, I expected it to be a refreshing mint but it’s a sweet one instead. I feared I was missing out, but I’ll stick to my beloved Clarins oils in the future. oh and the color payoff of Mahogany is virtually nonexistent.. I expected it to be sheer but at least somewhat noticeable? alas, it is not.
Kosas ‘Jaws’ is my every day all time favorite. Perfect on the lips, and somehow, even doubles as a dewy blush really well too. Not sure what possessed me to even put it on my cheeks for the first time but I’m glad I did!
My favourite lip oil for the last few years has been the clarins lip oil in mint, they’ve discontinued it and I didn’t get a chance to buy it in time. The new formula is thicker in a smooth way which isn’t a bad formula however I loved the slight sticky feeling it had before, it felt like it lasted longer.
I'm really loving the Merit lip products. I have the lip oil in Marrakech and it's nice and comfortable. I just got the lipstick in L'Avenue and it's just the right amount of dark berry for me and it feels really light but luxurious on the lips.
Once again, we have almost ALL the same favourites (down to shade choices too 🤣)! Fingers crossed Merit starts shipping to Australia soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Edit: PSA - Selfridges is selling Dior’s lip oils (and has the ltd edt Bronze and Peach shades)!
Love that we're on the same page Ali! 😄👏 Ooh yes, I've seen the Selfridges range but am trying to steer clear of stupidly-expensive-international-shipping-rates these days haha. Hopefully Mahogany lands in Australia soon x
Good things certainly come to those who wait, Ali! Popping back to share the great news this morning - MERIT starts shipping to Australia from September 18 🇦🇺💙 x
I love love lip oils, I'm more into Clarins as I'm a ex Clarins consultant so I've got a few Clarins lip oils. I think I'm just bias, my favourite is the cherry. Just beautiful!!!!!
Yes the new clarins lip oil is runny compared to other lip oils. But it’s faaaar less sticky than dior. I’ve never tried the old clarins lip oil but the new one doesn’t last very long, it absorbs into the lips and then gone.
Love all your picks, Matilda! I’m dying to try the Merit line 😩P.S. I finally bit the bullet and bought the Givenchy le rouge sheer velvet lipstick you recommended a few videos back, and I’m in LOVE 🥰
I think I found your channel....2 or 3 years ago? And I'm soooooo thankful. You have inspired my makeup purchases pretty heavily since I came across your channel. For starters you give detailed and honest descriptions of products. Second of all, I realized how much I love a more minimal approach to makeup. I see so many people who bash products like the Glossier skin tint or the Chanel Les Beiges, but for someone like me, I love those types of products because my skin hates foundation. I have dry skin and no matter who hydrated it is, foundation just.....sits there. So those sheer foundation products really are my friends. Third, the products you show actually look like they've been used and you'll show them in various videos. The pots will be almost empty, there's fingerprints in the products, or the lids will be dirty. That's geuinely not me being critical or trying to be rude. If someone is going to tell me that a certain product is their favorite, I don't know how much I trust it when the product looks like it's never been touched and then the following week they have a new favorite, only for that first one never to be mentioned again. Most of all though, your color palette.....😍😍😍 There are certain colors and shades that I just cannot wear (might have to do with the fact that I'm pale enough to pass as an Addams Family member). I might love them, but they sure as but don't love me. It has really been since watching your channel that I realized that the sort of brown/peach/pink/red shade range is ideal for me. Also, I've had Nars "Dragon" (is that the shade name? It's the bright red one...) for a few years and never touched it. Totally wore it to work this past week and felt like a badass. I'm just sad that I didn't find your channel sooner cause I definitely wasted money on a lot of makeup that just did not work for me.
I would love to see a part 2 🤞🏻🥰 I love lip oils and mostly go for nudes, pinks and clear ones 🙈 My faves are Kosas, Dior, Clarins and I would recommend that you try Vieve and Versed lip oils. I also like Gisou lip oil but that’s a “real oil” if that makes sense 😂 I also really like Jaclyn Hill Hydrapout Lip Treatment, which feels like a lip oil on the lips ☺️ And I really want to try Jaclyn Hills new lip oils 🙏🏻
Cool toned blushes aren't my specialty sadly! I have very fair cool toned skin so cool blushes just make me look like a doll or a child 😂 I know the Dior blush you mean, I tried the warmer coral version and that was a better fit for me! x
Thank you for the lovely feedback Hannah 🥰 London is certainly on my 'make a list' list haha, it's been many years in the making so I'll have to share a heavily edited version otherwise it would be closer to a novel! x
If you live in the U.S. the Ulta Juice Infused Lip Oils are a fantastic budget option! They are so thick and nourishing, and the shine they give is off the charts.
I'm new to this channel and subscribed after one video! And omg, why didn't I find you earlier? The way you talk about the products and explain every single detail it's so refreshing and detailed. Your personality, sense of humor and overall video is lovely
Yes! i completely agree,i have the honey one and whenever I put it in my bag I have a sticky mess! is there anyone who knows a way to fix this problem?
@@polinaglare i try to keep it upright! Sometimes i wrap it in a piece of paper towel. Not cute but it works lol. Their round packaging isn’t so bad now but it’s not perfect.
I prefer the old Clarins oils - both for packaging and formula, so I’m glad I managed to stock up before they discontinued them. I would say the new one is slightly runnier (in an attempt to make it less sticky perhaps?) but the OG feel more plush and longer lasting on my lips. And the new packaging is so.. ordinary. The square bottles are so much prettier, look nicer when displayed next to one another AND most importantly, are so easy to open even with slippery/moisturized fingers!
I LOVE the Bobbi Brown! Bought it without reading the reviews and I'm loving how it feels on my lips. Wonder why it's not a viral/trending product yet😅
That series will be back this month Trishala! 👍 June was a crazy month for me so my filming schedule was completely messed around. Thanks for your patience x
I was just thinking how lovely it would be if Matilda put out another tinted oil or balm video and look what pops onto my feed! Such a nice range of shades! Another well done video! Also it’s my birthday in 10 days! Turning 22, so going to have a Taylor themed party with some friends where everyone dresses up as an era/album/tour or music video outfit! Might just have to pick up one of these to pull the whole outfit and look together! :)
We're definitely on the same wavelength! Wishing you all the best for your birthday and that fantastic party 👏❤️ My RSVP is 'attending in spirit' and I'll be thinking about which Taylor era I would choose for.. the rest of the day haha x
I've got you Rachel! There's an old Australian Beauty Gift Guide video on my channel from back in 2018, and a more recent Australian Beauty edit from 2020 😄🇦🇺 x
Hi Matilda! I got into the Dior lip oils based on your recommendation and they are fabulous. I am also on the hunt for Mahogany. Seems to be always sold out here in the New England area
Interesting idea! Unfortunately I don't think I have an answer though - even if makeup products have skincare ingredients in them, I never see any real skincare benefits so I keep my daily makeup and morning/evening skincare routines pretty separate 🧖♀️ x
Thank you for letting me know Zulaikha! I haven't tried too many different drugstore formulas in the past couple of years unfortunately, but hope to revisit that topic in future ☺️👍 x
Yes to part 2!! Also maybe you should try korean products again like 3ce, i'm meme, peripera, missha, romand, the saem, bbia. Maybe you'll be interested in some of their products! There are a lot more k-beauty brands but these are my most love.
Thank you Nica! I've tried a few products from some of those brands in previous videos, but I'm definitely interested to explore more K-Beauty in future 😄👍 x
I wouldn't complain if we did end up being here all day listening to all the products list, honestly 😂 Another great video, Matilda. Been wanting to try more variations of lip oil in the market for quite some time!
perfect timing! i'm FINALLY gonna be able to get my hands on a dior lip oil tomorrow! it's either sold out completely or only the clear and pink are available. ideally wanted the berry colour but i see one of the stores in my city has a small amount of rosewood in stock so that it is! :) i'm gutted about the clarins reformulation. i think the packaging looks worse personally, and i don't like how thin it is now. i might've still given it a shot if they'd kept blackberry in the lineup...
Great picks. I want Jaws but have been a bit of a packaging snob with Kosas as I preferred the sleek black packaging vs the white plasticity vibe. Excellent video as always xx
Thank you Amanda! Isn't that funny, I was just thinking about the Kosas rebrand / packaging changes recently.. They've certainly moved away from the simplicity of the original lipsticks I loved. In fact, I think they're unavailable in some places so it wouldn't surprise me if they reinvent that packaging in line with the current colourful vibe in future 💄 x
Welcome back with the new video! I love the theme of lip oil. Yeees, i would love a part two. Since i owned and finished the dior lip maximizer and lip glow in rosewood, i think the next logical step is for me to try the rosewood lip oil. Sadly i try not to purchase more than three kiss of color type product at one time . And i have 4 at the moment 🙈. After i finish the dior lip glow lipbalm in plum maybe :) i remember the lip oil from clarins in the old formula, but i remember preferring the dior formula, less syrupy.
The new Clarins oil, I find, turns quite thin and fluid. I’ve even had it run off the corner of my mouth while lying down. That was unpleasant. I like the honey and orange tints; nicely different to the rest.
You should try the Fenty Skin Cherry Treat Lip Oil. Clean ingredients with Sweet Cherry seed oil, Barbados Cherry and Wild Cherry extracts to condition and renew and jojoba seed- and rosehip fruit oils to lock in moisture. The Doefoot is big and soft and the scent reminds me of the Strawberry Candies we had in Germany when i was younger
I have a few Merit colors and four of the Ilia colors. I like them a lot and have now added some of the Westman Atelier glosses, too. I’m always looking for the next favorite.
@@matildaonvideo Not OP, but the westman atelier gloss makes the lips look like stained glass and feels like a liquid lipbalm. Sadly it finished quite fast/ glooped up on me. 😢
I know I love lip oils when I tried all of them but the Ilia one 😅 Would love to see a video about balmy glosses or liquid lip balms like Roen, rare, and fitglow!
I have become a huge fan of lip oils recently but I'm a student haha so for now I have the Lottie London one and a very thin one from the small business Aquarius Beauty. I hope the trend stays around for a while because I love the look and feel, but even if it doesn't I'll probably keep using it! I think lip oils are perfect for me because I'm very much a lip tint and lip gloss kind of person.
I really like the Ilia one because it really stays put on my lips - even when I put lip balm underneath. It smells more like citrus than ginger to me, though.
I’ve enjoyed the Kosas and the Merit oils. That Ilia shade is calling to me 🤩🤩🤩 . I think I’m going to revisit your Bobbi Brown Crushed lip color videos, just in case 😜
thank you for this! i've been on the fence about the merit lip oil and this helped me make my decision. & i'm so excited for that merit review! once the signature lip in tiger is back in stock i'm buying it
I actually compared the new and old Clarins lip oils, both in the shade Raspberry, and made a video. The new one is thinner and less sticky. Except the packaging, I really like the new one, especially the shade Pitaya.
Hello, new subscriber and loving your videos! I’d love to see a compilation of matte/“blotted effect” lip products. I have a lot of sheer lipsticks/glosses but would love recs for a different texture. (You might already have a vid on this, I’ll have to comb through your backlog)
Thank you Janel! It's not a strong tinted lip oil so I didn't include it here, but I love the Dior Lip Glow Oil in Clear - it's not truly clear on the lips and leaves the softest hint of pink 💕 x
@@matildaonvideo Yes the scent is so sweet and candy like! I love it though! But the consistency of it is more towards a gloss than a lip oil.. but I don't mind it.
Thanks for another excellent video Matilda💗! I just bought the Clarins in ”Chocolate” and I love it😊. I also bought 2 of the new shades in the Vieve Lip Dew which is described as a mix between a lip oil and a gloss. Have you tried it?
Hey, can you try the Inn Beauty Project lip oils? I’ve heard really great reviews about them and I’d love to see you try them (I’ve never tried them lol)
I don't think I can get Inn Beauty in Australia unfortunately Lara! But I've heard great things about their lip oil from my friend State of Kait, I think she's reviewed them on her channel ☺️👍 x
