Cody, Thank you so much for telling my story that is more then I could have asked for. I do have faith and know that God is still on the Thrown. I will keep you updated on what is going on with us. I have tried to say thank you to everyone I am sure I missed some. I want to say thank you for all the prayers and encouraging words and testimonies that I have been reading. I will stand tall and face this challenge head on and make a better life for my family on the other side of the challenge. I am thankful I have a great family and a group of friends that I can talk to and encouragement in times like this. Thank you so much

I went through similar circumstance. I'm throwing this out there not as advice but something to look into maybe. For me it's been a tough 5 years. A lot of sacrifice but my comfort is meaningless if my family isn't being cared for. But, maybe try otr truck driving. You will be away from family, and it sucks, but with the money you can start rebuilding your financial foundation. I would warn you to keep in mind not all trucking companies are the same. There are some that are predatory. High turnover and poor csa records. I would love to suggest a company but hesitate because I don't want this to sound like a sales pitch. But this company will train you, help you get your CDL, pay you while training. And most importantly the training you get will be complete and get you started on the right foot. It's a hard life to lead, but desperate times desperate measures. If interested please let me know and I'll give you a number to call. I have a gmail account under this same name.

Mr. Wranglerstar, this is why I like you and your videos, you make great videos and you're not like other you-tubers I've seen, you actually care about your viewers, friends, family and you show it!! All in all i respect how "you" a busy man will take the time out of your day to show respect, love, and prayers for someone in need of help! Now that is what I call "A GOOD MAN" Cheers from Canada Mr. WranglerStar 😇

You are a huge inspiration to my husband ... He watches every single one of your videos. We are getting ready to take a trip to Seattle and he keeps saying how much he would like to help you move the Timber frame cabin. He's birthday is coming up and there will be nothing better for him then to be able to meet Mr. Wranglerstar !! :)

From the UK, We too are praying for 'scout' - due to injury I too have been laid off from my military service, but it's my community that has supported transition and now through grace I have seen that it is this community that offers me a new life. I wish you all the best and remind you that all things right now are just for the moment and the future is unknown, so why not try and make it anything you want.

RE: the apple trees and training with rocks. Great idea! However, I wouldn't leave them hanging. Rather I would have the rocks lay on the ground to reduce bouncing and movement from wind and other factors that would cause the rocks to swing and bounce. The more movement they incur the more likely you will be to lose those branches from the rocks swinging and bending the branches; which is a bummer when it happens to young trees.

I ended up not needing to weight my apple trees. When they were young and set fruit, they were so heavy laden, the limbs bent backwards and literally sat right on the ground. (I have all semi dwarfs, 3-4 years old) Id pull 3-4 apples off each limb per week for the first month or two or summer to keep the limbs from breaking and I remember hearing we didnt want them to bare so much fruit so young. This year will be the 4th year in the ground. --- Really love your little orchard. Look forward to seeing it thrive. ... prayers for scout and his family.

Outdoor area like that is great for a rocket mass heater. Having a heated bench to sit on is so wonderful. Also nice being able to keep a pot of water boiling ready for tea/coffee anytime and it keeps the humidity up. We tried cob first but ended up with using pebbles. Alot easier to move if we needed to.

One bit of advice be open to people wanting to help you. Part of my problems had to deal with swallowing my pride. God bless

I have been where this family has been a couple of times. Lost my property to fore-closer and than lived at a Christian Retreat Center for 12 years until the board changed and we were told to leave in 30 days and all I had was $5.00 in my pocket. Thankfully my faith had grown deeply through the years and we knew somehow God would make a way and He did. It was about that time in the Winter of 2013 I discovered Wranglerstar and other homestead videos that inspired us to look out in the country. God answered our prayers and we purchased a fixer upper with 8 acres in North Georgia by making the payments on an existing mortgage ( it's not a land contract as the property is in our name and with the help of a good lawyer we were able to get it done). Yes we had help with the 20% down payment also which was a miracle on its own. But for $70,000 dollars we are living the vision God planted in our hearts and we love it. We still have lots of work to do and little moneys for renovations. The key nothing is impossible with God. Commit your ways and life to Jesus Christ and He will order your steps Proverbs 3 : 5 &6 . Don't be afraid but to seek God till you find Him as He is never really is to far off to those who seek Him like Gold and silver and are willing to repent with their whole heart. A life of faith is not easy but the possibilities are enumerable. God will make a way for those willing to turn away from the world and live for Him. Praying for them to discover the adventure God has for them.

Hi I am new to all this technology, I have been watching your videos for just over 2 years. It was an axe video that got me started. Something about your demeaner got my attention, I watched a lot that weekend. You have a calming common sense about you. Thanks for that . A little about me... I am a 50 year old that has had some health issues in the past and really had to rethink my path. With my families support I did that, But the rat race and pressures of life took over again. Your videos somehow got me back to a mindset I needed. Thank you for that. I cryed over the story of the boy that wanted boots, I have been almost that boy. Our family now has way more then we deserve we appreciate very little. Your videos again have give us the kick in the ass we so deserve. You are a great insertion to me and I use the common sense approach now to many decisions I make. We run a successful repair shop and have 15 employees. I make lots of decisions and I think about how you would deal with some of them when I make them. I now have about 20 beautiful vintage completely restored axes and all our garden tools now are something to be proud of. Thanks for you been you. Brent

First, in order of importance, prayers for Scout and his family said, and added to prayer list. Second, looking forward to the videos on the upcoming timber framing project. A quite wonderful location you've chosen, too! Third, broom hockey on the frozen pond! Ah, the memories. Ah, the aches and pains from those old "battle wounds" when the weather starts to change. Lol! Missed a season of Spring Track and Field, because of a knee blown out from being seriously checked while defending the goal. Wouldn't have done it any differently, though. Thanks for sharing.

I am generally not a covetous person. But seeing how well your homestead is coming along makes me a little jealous. There are things I will do differently, as I will be homesteading in Northern Arizona, but all in all I am impressed with your outfit and will emulate your example in many fundamental ways. Thank you for the education and enthusiasm. Keep up the good work.

This story kinda hit me as of me and my brother had a rough childhood, our mother took her own life when i was 5 years old by overdosing on sleeping pills. We were sent to an orphanage and was placed in a temporarely home on a farm for 1 year. After a year pased there were a couple visiting us. They played and talked to us and get to know us. But what i didn't remember from that visit was that i said "Is there nobody that want to have us" and my steph dad told me this not too long ago. it kinda shook my heart. But that is the reason that couple took me and my brother now age 19 and 20 into their family. So you hit the nail on the head this time! thumbs up and a prayer for Scout!

I have been praying for Scout's family and will continue to. I know the Lord can do anything when it comes to making use of Kingdom assets. I would love to come help you with your timber frame cabin in the orchard, but I live all the way on the east coast and making that trip is not exactly easy. I am sure plenty of people will make themselves available to assist with this chore. I would really enjoy just hanging out. The atmosphere at a location such as your homestead is so relaxing. Thanks for sharing your adventures with us.

Similar to "scout", a few years ago after being laid-off, I, my wife, my baby son, and our two dogs and cat had to move in with not only my mother-in-law but also my sister-in-law who was/is also living there, along with their three dogs who really ran the house and did as they pleased, and to do so for 3.5 years. My mother-in-law is one step short of a hoarder, so we had no space to move (we ate at the dining room table MAYBE 10-15 times the entire time we were there (mostly holidays), so most meals were on our lap on whatever seat we could find or even just standing over the stove), for a good portion of the time we all had to share one bathroom, and our cat (and his litter box) was locked in our bedroom almost non-stop for the whole three years and our dogs only got to leave the room to go outside to use the bathroom. I say all this not to seek sympathy or to bash my MIL or SIL, but to show that I understand first-hand how hard it is to move in with the in-laws, especially after having been out on your own and especially when you have kids. My brother-in-law and his wife (no kids) just moved in with her parents, and they also are now realizing the stress it causes after only a few weeks of being there. "Scout", just keep praying and working towards your end goal, and God will always take care of you--I know that may not feel very comforting right now while you're going through it, but just realize there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel. Keep your chin up; I'm praying for you.

I would suggest planting some windbreak trees. For the climate you seem to have there, I would suggest alnus glutinosa (common Alder) planted 6 meters apart, with raspberry bushes beneath. Alder is nitrogen-fixing, so you can train grape vines all the way 25 meters up eventually, and they will be automatically fertilized by the tree's roots. Good excuse to start a tree-climbing regime too.

Cody & Scout, we as Catholics have special devotions to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ's mother, Blessed Virgin Mary, and we are urged by Jesus to seek her intercession in times of trouble or need of help. One of our prayers we rely on is called "The Memorare". I quote, "Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen." You all are in our daily prayers that dear God will show his love and mercy. Good luck to all of you.

Best of luck to Scout and his family! Don't give up brother! When you're up against a trouble, Meet it squarely, face to face; Lift your chin and set your shoulders, Plant your feet and take a brace. When it's vain to try to dodge it, Do the best that you can do; You may fail, but you may conquer, See it through! Black may be the clouds about you And your future may seem grim, But don't let your nerve desert you; Keep yourself in fighting trim. If the worst is bound to happen, Spite of all that you can do, Running from it will not save you, See it through! Even hope may seem but futile, When with troubles you're beset, But remember you are facing Just what other men have met. You may fail, but fall still fighting; Don't give up, whate'er you do; Eyes front, head high to the finish. See it through! "See it Through" by Edgar Guest.

Sending Prayers Cody. It is my opinion that in both good times and bad no matter what the situation is, in the end all we have and all we can trust and count on is God. Through prayer and supplication we petition God for our needs and He blesses us in accordance to His timing and His will. The Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Keep praying and keep the faith. Thoughts and prayers for scout and all the other families that are facing the same challenges as he and his family. Prosperity is not always what we want or need it to be (according to the world) but what it needs to be according to our heart's, values, and our ultimate place in the scheme of life. A correction course is sometimes needed to bring us to where we need to be, God doesn't give us more than we can bare if we dig a little deeper within us and a new tomorrow will make us happier.

Hi Cody, felling excited for you. Cannot wait until i have my own land for planting fruit trees. Regarding the cabin under the fir trees, please be mind full of the tree roots, they will react negatively to any soil level change, and especially a concrete pad. I think you should build it on a stone and mortar pillar type foundation to minimize your foot print on the fragile roots. you will be amazed at how many trees i remove because they died from soil level changes, as small as 4-6inchs. Thanks for the videos

I have long want to have my own little orchard ! Lack of space (I live on a 1/4 acre lot in suburbia) has always stopped me. There are a number of apple orchards in SE MI, but most make their living by doing "hay rides" for school kids and families and selling some one else cider along with donuts. Sigh. Fencing that area must have been a huge and EXPENSIVE job, but necessary if you wanted your trees not to be completely eaten by the deer !

The way I was taught (and i'm no expert) you should try to train the the branches of the apple tree up at a 45 degree angle. You then allow the weight of the apples to open up the tree and allow the light in. If you train them to be too horizontal, then when the tree starts to produce a lot of apples it weighs the branches down and they can become strained and break. Either way great job and I love your channel!

oh... What would it cost to rent a timber frame cabin on the Wranglerstar homestead if only for a week? Just to have the ability to learn so much from such a wise man would be priceless to me. I could make the trip across the country for just that... Once again I enjoy everything you do and I will keep this family in my prayers.

My grandad taught me a trick for fruit trees is to put netting round the bottom of the trees so when any of the fruit falls off the tree it doesn't land on the floor and become rotten or is eaten by animals

I bought trees for my zone but its a hit/miss as we often have late frost. Plan B is to plant Trees for a colder Zone. Always check several sites and make sure there is a common denominator of which zones they can be grown.

oooh interesting. I have a pear tree that the branches grow straight up and bunch together. Going to try training the branches like you did to spread then apart.

mikeallenbrown1 I've seen a lot of pear trees like that. Had to cut one down last summer cause it got sick and died. Makes for great wood since there are a lot of branches and it's a hard wood!

Praise His ways. Praise His Holy Name. For Our Father loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. I pray for all families. Let their fathers and mom's be strong and loving. And faithful to our Father.

Rabbits eat fruit tree bark for the fat content when the weather turns cold. Even if there is green stuff readily available they will chew up the trees. My Nanking Cherrys (sweet cherry windbreak and wildlife habitat shrubbery) and Younger Apple trees take a real beating. The damage looks like a herd of beaver went thru my back yard.

I had to rescue my apple trees because I let them go too long without pruning because I didn't know what to do or even think about it. The ones at my home are fine and I only need to cut a foot or so off the top but that is going to happen next spring. I have a large one in Wisconsin that would be better served as smoking wood it is in such bad shape but I cut half of it and next year I will try again to graft it's own branches to it.
