This is how to make a bioactive terrarium for an orchid mantis made to show how much fun it is to make a DIY bioactive terrarium for a baby mantis however it can be used for baby mourning geckos, baby crested geckos and other small animals that will thrive in a tropical bioactive terrarium. This mantis setup shows DIY Terrarium vines, DIY bioactive substrate . Diy terrarium background. A full video on how to make terrarium backgrounds along with loads of fun along the way.
This can also be used as a tarantula setup or any other tropical invert species.

This is a great little enclosure for small pets and looks rly nice for a display. For me it looks perfect for a small arboreal/semi arboreal tarantula but I would change one thing, the mesh on the lid, tarantulas can sometimes get the hooks on their feet caught in the mesh and get themselves stuck which can result in losing a leg. A plastic lid with holes drilled in would be more suitable. Maybe mantis den could add the option of choosing which type of lid u would prefer.

It also opens from the top, which isn’t ideal for mantids or small spiders because that’s where they make their home

do you have to take (a lot of) care of the plants other than just watering them every day? i have an orchid mantis and would like to create an enclosure like this but i am REALLY bad with plants and keeping plants alive.

This is late lol but no! As long as there is good drainage, light and some microfauna, it’ll become it’s own ecosystem:)

I do no this has nothing to do with the this beautiful enclosure.but last night I actually got a recording of my leopard gecko shedding.and I no u like to educate people but cudnt explain on ur leopard gecko video and wud like to no if u wide like my futich.because u helped me alot and u cud help other first lizard parents.thanks for all ur good work Richard keep it up.😀🦎

@@NORTHERNEXOTICS I know, they are also not suitable for tarantula's. We as tarantula owners always need to demount the terrariums to get rid of that stupid mesh and replace it for something else (plexiglass).

Aren’t you worried about the biocides in the silicone you’ve used?

Nope. Not with 100% silicone

But that product isn’t 100% silicone!!! Everbuild general purpose silicone contains biocides. Here is a link to the product. www.everbuild.co.uk/product/general-purpose-silicone/ The same manufacturer does an aquarium safe silicone called aquamate which would be appropriate to use. Please, please, please use products that don’t contain biocides. It’s a shame, because this little setup looks really good!
